      From KIA bulletin DTC P1B25/P1B77 - 125 AMP HV FUSE INSPECTION
      If the measured resistance is not within specification, or the P1B25 DTC is intermittent, replace the
      125 Amp HV Battery Fuse with the newer 150 Amp HV battery fuse (part #375F2 4R150).

    I just want to say thank you for posting your video. We have a 2012 hybrid Sonata that's been to 4 different dealerships that never solved the problem. They replaced the hybrid battery, 2 12v batteries, and ran diagnostics with no clear results but wanted to replace the transmission that was replaced 30,000 miles ago under the previous owner. So, after watching your video we decided to risk the $75 for the fuse and it worked!! We didn't even have to jump-start it, it cranked right up, the ready light came on, and my husband drove it around for several hours. After about 35 miles the engine light turned off by itself. I'm almost sure that fuse was the problem all along and it never even needed a new hybrid battery. I'm going to write to Hyundai, who, by the way, was of no help at all. I know it won't do any good, but it will make me feel better.

      Well, it worked for a little while and then it all happened again. Found a good hybrid tech at a different dealership who changed out the power relay and that didn't work. The 12v battery won't charge while driving and the factory was no help at all, just said to replace the transmission. Seriously? It could be the DC inverted inside the HPCU but I'm not going to spend $5k on the off chance it might fix it given we've already got almost $10k on an 11 year old car. So we'll try to sell it as is and just take the loss and be done with the damn thing!

      That really sucks!! Since I’ve had this issue, I found out that many of these cars qualify for the engine recall from Hyundai. My engine just started knocking yesterday (11/29/2022) so that’s when I found the recall & dropped my car off at the dealership. I’m not sure if yours would qualify, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to have them check!!
      Best of luck to you, I’m happy it worked for awhile, but am sad that something else happened; that’s really frustrating.

      @@HoodRichSWERVE I feel your pain. We finally decided to cut our losses, which were substantial, and sell it with full disclosure of the problem. Similar warning came on for my daughther'w, 2015 Sonata Hybrid, I did not confirm the "Check Charging" message. I had the car towed, let it sit for a day while I mulled what to do as the issue was still present the next day. My local, non-dealer mechanic came over, cleared the codes to reset them, he wanted to confirm if the codes still popped after being clearning up but same warning lights did not(there were many codes as I had tried to read them with my OBD2 reader). After my mechanic cleared the codes, the car drove fine. Nevertheless, I towed it do the dealer to see if they could find something wrong with it, they did not. I believe they did software/firmware update(free of charge, I believe because they kept the car for so long and wanted a good review(which I gave)) and/or confirmed latest greatest software/firmware. The problem has not repeated(knock on wood), its been 1month, 1 week. I am going to buy this fuse as I believe the issue will re-appear. If it re-appears, this will be my next troubleshooting step before I take it to the dealer again.

    What is good fuse reading ? Mine go from 0.5 to 0.1 in 3 seconds when testing it with multimeter is this good or bad?

    • @thejoki04
      @thejoki04  Рік тому +1

      Check this link out. If the multimeter is set to the right setting it should go to 0. That being said, the one from my car said it was good, but the replacement fuse had more amps & fixed the problem so I’m glad I replaced it anyway. If you still have the factory fuse in, I would buy the 150amp & switch it out since the tech bulletin says it should be upgraded to the 150.

    Dead post but mine did almost the same thing. I was driving car kinda lost power. Then all my lights freaked out. Now I think my 12v battery is dead too. I tried the mega fuse no avail.

    • @thejoki04
      @thejoki04  Рік тому

      That sucks. You can try your 12V battery, they make load testers for those that tell you if it’s good or not(something more than a multimeter).
      If it’s not that, I would check the hybrid battery power control module.

      @@thejoki04 it didn't work. I thought it might because everything else seemed to power on and there was a hum or something from the engine, plus the AC and radio powered on, but when put in drive it wouldn't go anywhere. I saw a check charging system warning with what looked like an alternator and a battery on the display, and after leaving it on for about 10 mins I'd get the same power off car do not go anywhere warning. The battery was so low I couldn't even lock the doors with the clicker thingy. Any suggestions?

      I recommend charging your battery in the trunk, you could probably connect jumper cables from another vehicle for awhile. They’d what I did with mine. Hopefully that works! If it doesn’t, it may be the power relay in the trunk above the hybrid battery.

I changed it but since then I only get that message on the screen “HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING. @@thejoki04 I just had this issue a week ago. I had to get towed to my house. My Kia Optima it's still covered under the factory warranty for the hybrid system. The worst part is that the service center is saying they cannot duplicate warning so everything seems fine. I had to call corporate to press the issue that the car was unsafe to drive. Kia told me do not pick up the vehicle it is deemed unsafe to drive but unfortunately my car will be in their hands as long as it takes for them to find out what's wrong

    • @thejoki04
      @thejoki04  2 роки тому +1

      That’s crazy. There is a technical service bulletin that was released for the Optima as well: static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10154660-9999.pdf
      I would bring this up with them & ask them for a loaner vehicle while they try figure it out. If I’m not mistaken, loaner vehicles are up to the discretion of your local dealership, but maybe corporate can help you if you ask them.
