There are a few "tags" you can use to make text _italic_ (put an underscore "_" at the beginning and end of the word or phrase, like "_italic_" - it won't work if it's in quotes), *bold* (Use "*" at the beginning and end, like "*bold*") or -strikethru- (use "-" before and after, like "-strikethru-"). There might be more, but those are the only ones I know about. Some tips: tags can't have any spaces after them. Like if you put "_ italic_", it won't work (without the quotes, of course). You can also combine them, so that, for example, you can do bold AND italic = *_bold and italic_* using both symbols before and after the word or phrase. *Have* _Fun_!! JW3HH
that would not be a problem for them as they had to be musicians in the first place to play the instruments so they could follow real instructions from real conductor
I love it how they give people the opportunity to do something that not everyone gets to do. This just so inspirational on how people can express themselves
TheNinjaPlumber I agree with you, if you listen carefully even it was same song but it not same when other people conduct it. so that's why people say that song is expression of our heart
Ever since my orchestra teacher saw this, he lets audience members conduct us during our Christmas concert. It's great, they have so much fun! Especially the little kids ^_^
_what happened if an actual conductor walked up and started conducting_ XD Edit: 5 years ago... I don't even remember making this comment. How the hell did it get so much attention???
+Thats Not Blood Thats Jam But, what is a proper conductor? There is no correct way to play a song, so everybody was a conductor. Edit: young me is stupid, disregard this comment
+Potato OX Don't be a smart ass. He obviously meant someone trained, or who does it professionally. You know, somebody who has a right to call themselves a conductor.
+Potato OX There actually is a proper way to conduct. Clearly you have never played in an orchestra before. There are certain hand movements you do for certain time signatures. Although conductors can add flair to these movements, they are universal.
I am undergoing treatment for stage IV breast cancer. As soon as I am healthy enough, I am putting "be part if an Improv everywhere mission" at the top of my bucket list! Thanks for making this chick smile and forget the hard stuff for a while! Learned about you through your documentary on Netflix... and I'm hooked. Xoxo
I told a couple people I was working with about IE a few weeks ago... I told them, "Oh, you don't know it? Well, one day when you have a few hours to spare..."
I am a professional musician and conductor myself. I would know straight away from just listening to the first two bars of the music. In this case it's Mozart Overture to the Marriage of Figaro . The pernultimate person got the tempo bang on right.
You could say the same for a professional orchestra led by an overrated conductor. I suspect that if orchestras played exactly as they were being conducted by certain conductors ( some of them quite famous), the concert halls would be not be so filled. Not all these hallowed music directors are so wonderful.
What a great way to bring classical music out to the public and have a little fun with it! It's a hoot to see so many folks letting out their inner conductor.
It's one of the best video on UA-cam , I just love watching. It makes me smile and happy to my heart content. Applauds for your work. Great work , God bless you all. 😃
It's so cool to see so many different people of different ages to come out not feeling embarassed or uncomfortable and just give it a full on go! Good for everyone! Great project - it unites!
I miss this kind of stuff from Improv Everywhere!! This is the stuff I love, including everyday people in the experiments! I'd love to see more of this!
I love how that one woman in the pink told the violist in the front to stand up......well yeah the joke's on him! Hahahahahaha!!! 😂 The viola jokes are so natural they make sense to strangers too....😂
this made me happy! these improv groups are a true testament of charity - bringing simple joy to others for no other reason except wanting to spread happiness. SO jealous of NY'ers who get to experience things like this so often :)
An old TV show called Candid Camera did the same thing except with a FULL orchestra. A janitor was told to help during their rehearsal, a classic. If anyone has link please attach.......
this was so fantastic ~ you can tell how much this brightened people's day and we could always use more classical music in our lives! also that cop was especially adorable. I could tell from the shot of him watching that he wanted to try too!
Actually, I feel like they are really going with the tempo that the conductors are setting, as well as the speed and intensity of the movements, at least most of the time. I have absolutely NO knowledge of this though, so I could definitely be completely wrong about this.
cmon they went to pianissimo when the girl was asking them to and when the girl asked them to finish the same note three times they did that too...they switched to staccato when the conductor made sharp movements...as far as I can see they were giving good feedback to the novice conductors :)
They are VERY responsive. They have to be, or this would never work. These musicians are trained to watch the conductor. It could be you, me, or Mickey Mouse, but whoever is on that podium is the leader.
They went out there and gave the gift of musical expression to random people. Many of whom never in a billion years thought they would have anything to do with making music. This is so beautiful. They should do this more. Other people should do this too. Just look how happy they are. Just look at it.
Patrick Manville All of a sudden, you went all the people's heads, and read their thoughts or what? They were having fun, and not taking it too seriously, which means....they automatically think that being a conductor is easy? WTF?? That's is really really REALLY fucked up logic!
Patrick Manville ,,But don't most people forget what the hardest part of this performance is ? Isn't the hardest part composing the piece of music? I might have missed it but did they credit the composer? lol,,
What Wetterwachs said. I've played in both a large ensemble and a quartet. We managed without one in a quartet, but when you are playing in a larger ensemble...you need direction. Along with telling everyone how he wants us to play it, he also provides visual ques to remind us how we should be sounding and at what tempo.
actually conducting an orchestra is literally the coolest feeling ever. when I was in orchestra in school our conductor gave us a chance to practice that and it's so cool to lift your hands and control the music. it's like the music is flowing through your movements even though you're not playing an instrument
They're playing outdoors. I'd be amazed if they were in tune. Anybody who has ever had to tune a harp knows the agony of what happens the second you open the auditorium doors. 😂
I LOVE this! There's something really powerful about this project, that feel of being in command of the music. It also challenges people to think outside the boundaries of what their capabilities are. I bet all those people that "conducted" that day will feel differently about music when they hear it now. They'll never forget that random experience.
OF COURSE It's no bloody good... you haven't even given them a score to conduct from.. you can't even expect a professional conductor to conduct an orchestra when they don't even know what piece they are playing!
Well do you expect any random stranger off the street to know how to conduct from a score? And plus, it's not to be taken seriously, it's just for fun.
It is hilarious to see these random people make fool of themselves. They have no idea what conducting even looks like! And if you notice that the orchestra was basically going the same tempo the whole time! The only real difference was how loud or quietly they played.
Well that's because most people were waving arms at the same tempo but you can clearly hear how they respected their pianos and fortes as well as crescendos, and there were a couple of people who did speed it up.
I'm so glad you were on UA-cam's home page. What you guys do is awesome, and I'd love to be an audience member IRL, you can tell how many smiles and memories came from this :)
*actual conductor walks up*
How were you able to comment in bold ?!
*magic*
There are a few "tags" you can use to make text _italic_ (put an underscore "_" at the beginning and end of the word or phrase, like "_italic_" - it won't work if it's in quotes), *bold* (Use "*" at the beginning and end, like "*bold*") or -strikethru- (use "-" before and after, like "-strikethru-"). that would not be a problem for them as they had to be musicians in the first place to play the instruments so they could follow real instructions from real conductor
So I go to this music class and my teacher showed this to us, since we are learning to conduct, telling us this is why we must always be prepared.
Oh man your teacher must be awesome
The Whiplash movie was fun because, spoiler, the conductor wanted the musicians and himself to look incompetent ?
Ddarra Smith 😂😂
Could I ask you? A conductor decides HOW you play a song then?
Yeah..I get it why😂😂
I love how much fun the people look like they're having. Even if they also look like they don't have a clue what they're doing.
Shell B you have 666 likes
yep
Now do a Carnegie Hall conductor with a random New Yorker orchestra.
Yee
That happens on the New York subway. The buskers have a bad union.
CollegeHumor FUCK YOU COMMIE SJW SNOWFLAKES
CollegeHumor Good idea
Oh hey its college humor, that's cool I guess.
I love it how they give people the opportunity to do something that not everyone gets to do. This just so inspirational on how people can express themselves
TheNinjaPlumber amen
TheNinjaPlumber I agree with you, if you listen carefully even it was same song but it not same when other people conduct it. so that's why people say that song is expression of our heart
The white red head lady thought she was doing something .. I'm fuckin dead💀

Kendall Johnson She wasn't?
I know right?! Like she thought she did something right like she did up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, a, and b
And she made that guy stand up like she wanted him to solo. But theu werent doing solos she had to conduct all of them. Dumbass
The guy in the white hoodie was like wigardium leviosaaaaaa
You're saying it WRONG. It's "leviooooosa", not "leviosaaaaa". XD
Actually, it's wingardium leviOsa, not levioSAR.
Ron VS Hermione hahaha
wronald vweeslyyy.....its levi0SAA
Most pointless argument I've ever seen
We thought the random New Yorkers were gonna be treble, but these guys were sharp and really measured up. Bravo!
Nerdist oh hey, its Nerdiest.
Thats cool i guess.
Lol music puns
lol
damn it mannn
Barvo!
Ever since my orchestra teacher saw this, he lets audience members conduct us during our Christmas concert. It's great, they have so much fun! Especially the little kids ^_^
that's hella cool
Do they do it right though?
and @@CLlJANO never got an answer 😪
How sweet!
This is wonderful and adorable and I'M NOT TEARING UP AT ALL. I'M A STRONG MAN.
Soren?
Lol
It’s him!
The joy in their eyes makes me smile
You think they'd shit their pants if an actual world-renowned conductor just happened to be there and started conducting?
Ben Anasarias
I think it would just sound really good, considering they're all world class musicians xD
Let John Williams
Oh hello gergiev, when did you get here
Ben Anasarias lol itd be hilarious to see
Only if he makes them play "the brown note"

_what happened if an actual conductor walked up and started conducting_ XD
Edit: 5 years ago... I don't even remember making this comment. How the hell did it get so much attention???
Crying Crimson some of them showed some degree of knowledge xD
+Thats Not Blood Thats Jam But, what is a proper conductor? There is no correct way to play a song, so everybody was a conductor.

***** Hermes Yes Yes, I know, I do band at school. I wasn't being too serious, you know.
I sometimes think about moving to New York, just for Improv Everywhere.
Xoxo
yay you are so strong! I also gained a lot from them when I saw them.
Hello? How are you?
Just found this channel, and it's already bringin a big smile to my face with each video!!! 😄
It's the best!

I am a professional musician and conductor myself. I would know straight away from just listening to the first two bars of the music. In this case it's Mozart Overture to the Marriage of Figaro . The pernultimate person got the tempo bang on right.
It would be kinda cool if one of the "conductors" was actually a real conductor.

This is now my Favourite Channel
JamalHadjkura for real!
that was fun!) but it would be nice to see what really would happen if the orchestra performed exactly as people conducted them)
You could say the same for a professional orchestra led by an overrated conductor. I suspect that if orchestras played exactly as they were being conducted by certain conductors ( some of them quite famous), the concert halls would be not be so filled. Not all these hallowed music directors are so wonderful.
lol i would've been literally throwing that stick up and down randomly
This is the best improv i've seen. I love that you were bringing classical music to the masses
Faith in humanity restored
This is delightful. Those "conductors" look like they're having so much fun.
What a great way to bring classical music out to the public and have a little fun with it! It's a hoot to see so many folks letting out their inner conductor.
We're excited that everyone is enjoying this! It was lots of fun to make. Visit Carnegie Hall's UA-cam channel to hear more from Ensemble ACJW!
Is mayonnaise an instrument?
No.
No Patrick, mayonnaise is not an instrument.
It's one of the best video on UA-cam , I just love watching. It makes me smile and happy to my heart content. Applauds for your work.
Great work , God bless you all. 😃
This is now one of my favorite videos so far.
the smile on the second guy always gets me. man was LIVING for it
I love these guys so much, they do this to make people happy, and that makes me happy!
Didn't know about this.
The trailer brought me here and it's absolutely brilliant!
The second guy looked like mr mosby from Zach and Cody, and one of the people in the orchestra looked like London
Yeah true :P
I'm holding back tears... This video is so powerful
Everything about this channel is so pure. I love it so much. Just dedicated to spreading happiness and joy where ever they go.
2:48 Best one yet.
2:49 Gustavo Dudamel
Jokes are really not my forte. 😉
You're nothing but treble
Was that an accidental pun?
I'm gonna put in one more pun for good measure
+Marshmallowgurl321 I think these jokes are becoming a little flat
Give me a rest.
It's so nice to see people smiling and having fun. No hate, no dramas. Thanks Improv Everywhere. Hope you visit vegas one day.
1:41 haha that lady is so cute :) and the violinist/violist (yes, I didn't forget you, fellow violas ;)) is good at making us laugh :)
2:54 that guy cracked me up! XD
The kid at 1:10 is like "I have no freaking idea what i'm doing"
This is just fantastic.
1:20 may the real violin player please stand up
please stand up
please stand up
xD
It's so cool to see so many different people of different ages to come out not feeling embarassed or uncomfortable and just give it a full on go! Good for everyone! Great project - it unites!
Is that orchestra called Pepsi cause it Sure made that cop happy
I saw this in a Mr.Bean episode!! xD
... Anyone else conducting at their desks while watching this? Just me?
me too😂
I miss this kind of stuff from Improv Everywhere!! This is the stuff I love, including everyday people in the experiments! I'd love to see more of this!
Possibly the best Improv Everywhere ever !!!!!!!!!!!
I wish they could do this in downtown Houston, TX.
Yass it would be fun if ppl would do stuff like that here
Houstoins would love it !
Dude. I wish I lived in NY just to stumble across these guys.
SHE is beatiful... and you know who I'm talking about
I love how that one woman in the pink told the violist in the front to stand up......well yeah the joke's on him!

2:41 THIS IS SO FUNNY
I thought someone was gonna try to reenact the looney tunes episode were bugs bunny uses his hands with intesnse facial expressions.
The guy is like ok I had my fun. " That's it y'all, I got a job over here, ok." 2:30
this was so fantastic ~ you can tell how much this brightened people's day and we could always use more classical music in our lives!
also that cop was especially adorable. I could tell from the shot of him watching that he wanted to try too!
Looks like they're completely unresponsive. They just play their thing.
it would be a shambles otherwise!

I don't know why but this just made me really happy and I couldn't stop smiling while watching it :)
Was I the only person thinking about bugz bunny when the one guy stopped conducting and put the baton under his arm?
They went out there and gave the gift of musical expression to random people. Many of whom never in a billion years thought they would have anything to do with making music. This is so beautiful. They should do this more. Other people should do this too. Just look how happy they are. Just look at it.
I love it when music brings people together like this.
I would have walked up there and been like EXPECTO PRATRONUMMM!!
A great video but I find it extremely cringeworthy people think being a conductor is easy
Yeah, it's more than just moving your arms around. XD
They probably knew it was not that easy in reality. They were just having fun.
I might have missed it but did they credit the composer? lol,,
true, I am just biased as I am a drum major and it makes me mad whenever people just denounce my position thinking it is really easy.
396 people can't conduct.
What Wetterwachs said. I've played in both a large ensemble and a quartet. We managed without one in a quartet, but when you are playing in a larger ensemble...you need direction. Along with telling everyone how he wants us to play it, he also provides visual ques to remind us how we should be sounding and at what tempo.

dare to to lead ! :)
the violinist is cute
The woman in pink seemed to be a music teacher.
Man this channel forces a smile on my face
It's always nice to see people having fun.
who else is here because of Teens React?
omg me haha
Thought I was alone >D
+Olivia Howard Me! I thought I'd be the only one!
Why, did they make a video reacting to this?
Checkmate1138 No, it was in the suggestions
I was hoping someone dressed as bugs bunny would walk up there and start conducting it.
Holy crap, hey me from two years ago wasn't expecting to see you here, also that was an awful ass comment fyi.
there was an out of tune player... either he or she is deliberately sabotaging the band, or even worse, they don't know they're out of tune
Michael Pfahler I don't think they actually mean that there's an out of tune player. Its a quote from a movie called Whiplash
They're playing outdoors. I'd be amazed if they were in tune. Anybody who has ever had to tune a harp knows the agony of what happens the second you open the auditorium doors. 😂
Fuppy Ko straight outta whiplash
Good movie.
I love how they do this because they make random people's day and it makes them happy and it makes me feel all warm and bubbly inside. :3
I LOVE this! There's something really powerful about this project, that feel of being in command of the music. It also challenges people to think outside the boundaries of what their capabilities are. I bet all those people that "conducted" that day will feel differently about music when they hear it now. They'll never forget that random experience.
its good but soooooooo cringy
OF COURSE It's no bloody good... you haven't even given them a score to conduct from.. you can't even expect a professional conductor to conduct an orchestra when they don't even know what piece they are playing!
Well to be fair this piece is really famous
well to be fair... no.
+ZJStrudwick Well it actually is....
Well do you expect any random stranger off the street to know how to conduct from a score? And plus, it's not to be taken seriously, it's just for fun.
ZJStrudwick it's REALLY famous. Mozart's Marriage of Figaro. Anyone who has conducted a semi pro orchestra will have this piece memorised
I love this video but does anyone else here think the kid at 2:15 is really annoying?
hmm, reminds you of anyone famous?
Super annoying..
Fokis Gaming I found him funny
It was just for fun and I found him hilarious
This was so creative, excellent and gave so many people an opportunity to play and experience from both sides of the baton. Bravo!
I feel like some of these people are/can be real conducters! This is my fave video from this channel!
It is hilarious to see these random people make fool of themselves. They have no idea what conducting even looks like! And if you notice that the orchestra was basically going the same tempo the whole time! The only real difference was how loud or quietly they played.
Well at least they are having fun and not worrying about what people will think.
that is true
Well that's because most people were waving arms at the same tempo but you can clearly hear how they respected their pianos and fortes as well as crescendos, and there were a couple of people who did speed it up.
the Asian kid wasn't satisfied with their performance..typical haha
:-O I did NOT know that I was going to be on UA-cam when I conducted that!!!
I'm so glad you were on UA-cam's home page. What you guys do is awesome, and I'd love to be an audience member IRL, you can tell how many smiles and memories came from this :)
Incredible. So many hugely talented people in New York.
This is so great!!!!
I love this. Music is something you can play around with and there are no right or wrong ways. Music brings so much joy I love it
they all looks so happy....thanks. marvellous group effort
I love this channel. I'm so glad I found it.
im just so adicted cant stop watching your videos
