I love the sound of diesel engines :-)
IV kept a watchful eye on your progress of this vehicle from over the pond in the UK. man this is my dream motor. love your videos. regards
ceet12 is
This makes me wanna swap a powerstroke into my expedition
Jay Carden just buy an excursion my friendl
Put a 7.3 into a 99 black expedition
Awesome job. I have a 1996 Suburban 6.4TD 4x4, I would love this entire conversion.
I have a 2004 excursion I would love to convert to a Cummins, live the work you do!!
This paint makes the whole thing look great. These old subs always look awful in stock paint but you guys really pulled off a great overall look!
One of the best garage builds I have ever seen
Thank you
Should've called it the cumburban. Lol
Joe DiCocco or suburmmins!
Same could be said about my ex girlfriend.
My dream suburban
Thanks Jacobe, appreciate that!
Just awesome. One of my favorite vehicles. I had a deisel 92 suburban dually with a full 1 ton suspension setup on it. I regret selling it more than you could imagine. Thank you for sharing!
I was just complaining to my wife the other day that I didn't want a Duramax Suburban, and wished Dodge would make an SUV with a Cummins. Think this would be a better option than putting a 6BT in my 80 series LC.
I have done both swaps, Land Cruisers and Suburbans and starting with a larger 3/4 ton vehicle does make the conversion a little easier.
That would be awesome if dodge came out with a new ram charger but without all the newer crap!
My question is. How long of a process and average price. I have a '98 Burban I want to convert.
Felicidades por todo el talento y pasión puesto en este proyecto yo estoy mensando en un motor diesel para mi camioneta saludos desde México.
Awesome rig and work! My perfect rig. Would LOVE one!
That 12v is the best sound.
Country roads take me home!
To the place I belong!
Time to get back on my 1993 2500 surberbon 4x4 and my 1974 f350 2 wd I like a lot of your part for the build thks
The font match on the gauge pod tickled my jimmies real nice
Man this is such a beautiful truck. I been thinking about doing it on my 99 Chevy Tahoe 4x4
I hate people that cheap out and rig the shit out of a build I love everything to almost seem like it should have came from the factory that way and I think you hit the nail of the head and also glad you decided not take the nasty easy way out with a body lift
The center light bar is tied in with the high beams, boy I'd be pissing a lot of people off lmao
Looks great, love the Cummings swaps.
This build screams for a SAS
The independent suspension and antilock brakes work very well on these vehicles. Also if you want a solid axle you should just build the older body style.
Good looking Burb!
Thanks for your reply, really like this build.
Dude is that Edgewood? Lol. Nice build man.
Hey thanks!
Man this is beautiful. Great work.
Thanks a lot!
Man, that's a good looking rig. I see this video is a little old. I'd like to know what power mods you made and how well it's running.
That is great. Man i have a 04 Yukon xl I would love to do this to.
Do it bro. And post it. I have a 99 tahoe and a 04 Yukon Denali. Don't know which to do it on.
your welcome your work speaks for it s self
We try really hard to produce a total package not just a generic builds you see everyday.
Perfect, wouldn't change much of anything.
Very cool. Excellent work.
thank you once again one of the best conversion you guys do very good work
Thanks for your support.
So sick
LOVE IT!
That thing is unreal.
I’ve got a ‘97 K2500 that I’d love to rip the 350/4L80E out of for a 12v/NV4500 setup.
Very beautiful truck
The ladder is cool but I honestly feel like with my boots Ill break the rear window trying to climb it lol.
That's awesome!!! I want to do this to a 2dr Tahoe
What a great built!!
Thank you. This vehicle will be for sale the spring of 2018 listed at adventurevehiclesnw.com
Love your work! I think I’ve seen all your videos a few dozen times...
I was wondering if you could speak to the pros and cons of keeping the 4L80E vs swapping in an NV4500, in terms of cost/benefit, time, difficulty, etc?
Will Do
Thats a sweet rig
Fantastic looking build, don't really understand two key things though, leaving the 12v stock when you're just going to go back into it for more power after a couple miles, I can only assume this is a customers vehicle so you guys can charge again 😅
And secondly, why all the LEDs but leave the stock halogens and incandescent lights around in the stock locations when you could've easily swapped everything to LED for better overall visibility instead of having to hit the highs....that's just me though, if I'm putting LEDs in, I'm doing all of them, plus it looks silly running incandescent lights next to LED.
Great build!
Awesome Truck!! Best of luck to you.
First off love this build it’s amazing! Second I just want to know what the cost could be to just do the full engine and transmission swap in my 99 suburban?
22,654.34
This is beautiful
Next door neighbor is practically giving me an obs crew cab 4x4 2500 zero rust.not really wanting to put the 5.7 heads back on.any reason you wouldn’t swap a 5.9.I miss my 2000 Cummins.
that things badass
Soooooo. How do we discuss doing almost an identical project for my burban. 1997 GMC burban?!
In my opinion it's a really nice truck I got a 1993 but I'm not understanding why the seats are so loss in yours
Nicely Done!! Beauty truck!1
Thanks
Very nice build.
Fascinating. While I've always loved the Cummins 6BT diesel engine, but I've always questioned the idea of a 5.9 litre inline six engine inside the engine bay of a 6.6 litre V8 engine. You know, will it fit comfortably? Will it work reliably? Since I've never driven either, I've no way of knowing either way.
Looks awesome!
OMG great job !
I need a 97 Cummins , and it put in my 97 Tahoe .
We all need cummins in our lives.
Badass!!!
Hey thanks, appreciate that!
Very very nice. I've been thinking about throwing a LBZ in my 99' suburban. Would you recommend the Cummins over Duramax or prefer any diesel engine over any other? Great looking truck sir. Love what you did to it.
What sort of parts would I need to put that engine into a 1998 Mazda b4000? I know some mechanical stuff but I'm no genius and I don't really have experience
what upgrades will you be throwing at the engine? I love your hard work it makes me want to get my 93 suburban 6bt all decked out. I'm up in Silverdale washington state do you do trades for work as well? I have a military m998 humvee I might be willing to part ways with reply back if you're interested :)
Sorry I am not interested in any trades.
Vehicle is currently list on eBay buy it now price of $45K. 7 Day auction ends on September 26th 2017
did it sell?
Pure Badass.!!
I need this
Beautiful Build!!!
What lift kit did you use?
Thanks!
I want the wheel tire suspension info awesome
Are you using the stock torque converter?
What was the total cost of making Subruno?
I apologize if it was already mentioned. But if you don't mind me asking, what was your total cost in the swap alone?
Cool , good job .
Let's see under the hood man!!!
Update on tuning. etc?
What is the coating on the truck? Raptor u-pol bed liner? Awesome rig! I prefer Ford😜but this rig is sweet! I don't like anymore blockage of my view on the pillars. Already a big blind spot without adding a gauge pod
PPG base coat with a flat PPG 2021 clear coat. The texture on the flares is rocker coating and the bumpers are coated with Monstaliner.
Mean looking ride
I would love more information on the engine ?build? stock? any upgrades...mpg hwy ,city? Thanks
Where in the PNW are you located at?
Did you have to modify/beef up the ifs and steering components to handle the 6bt and 37s?
Sweet build 👍
3/4 ton steering components are strong enough. 1/2 ton stuff is not.
Great swap man! Beautiful truck. Did you body lift? or were you able to tuck the 6BT in without a body lift?
No body lift
any quick tips you might share about shoe horning that thing in?
Do you think a Cummins 6bt swap into a 2nd Gen Avalanche is practical ?
i know it's a defender series roof rack. but what model number. looks like the perfect size.
One Sexy Built Vehicle
Jonesyautoclub, before you sold the Subruno, we're you able to get an idea of miles per gallon?
Approx 18mpg but that was before power upgrades
Very nice.
Can you provide info on what lift kit you used?
I have a 1999 K2500 GMC Base Model Suburban and am having a heck of a time finding a IFS lift for it. Appears that only superlift carries them unless there is someone else out there I'm just not finding. Would appreciate your input since you guys trusted it to hold the weight of the 6BT.
Tuff Country 16853KN. The wight is supported by the torsion bars which are reused and not included in the lift kit.
Sweet looking Suburban. Awesome looking engine swap. Are you sure about the year? Judging from the front end, it looks like a 1992-95 Suburban. I love the grille.
Yes I swapped the work truck style grill in order to gain more room for the charge air cooler and better fit the theme of the truck.
I've always liked the sound of a well-built, and well-maintained diesel engine. Don't ask me why, since I've never owned or driven a diesel powered vehicle.
And how did the grille provide the needed room to accomodate the Cummins Diesel? I would think that because of the length of the inline six engine, you'd somehow need to get a larger engine compartment, or a longer front.
It has to do with the marker light and turn signal location on the work truck grill vs regular GMC suburban grill
Where can we get the tow mirrors 🤔
Hey, I was wondering if you all had to cut the firewall to fit the 12v. I’m trying to decide between a 4bt and a 6bt cause if I have to cut the firewall I rather not get that deep! Thanks for you help!
No firewall mods are required other than bending the pinch weld around the transmission tunnel.
Also got a cummins swapped suburban although it's a 1991 with a 24v. Definitely much louder in my cab than yours. Just curious if you did anything to quiet the engine noise?
The 24v engines are noisier than the 12v. We did however install heavy mass backed carpet form ACC and a bunch of sound deadner from Fat Mat.
You said you were getting around 18mpg.
I'm not a big diesel guy but have been told 4BT swaps are easier in place of standard GM V8's over the 6BT Engines.
With this in mind I've been considering a 4BT vs. 6BT swap for my 1999 K2500 Burb or maybe even my 1968 CST 10 Suburban.
Having done a lot of work with these can you provide some quick pros and cons to either option?
Deboss garage put a 4bt in a tahoe. He has a youtube channel and is from Ontario, Canada
I have a 98 chevy suburban k2500 with the 6.5 turbo diesel. How much weight did the cummins add and did it effect the steering? Any upgrades on the suspension, steering or drivetrain like the axles/driveshaft/rear end ?
The Cummins is not much heavier than the 454 that was removed. I don't know the exact weight difference. All of the bushings and steering linkage was replaced and or rebuilt when the 6" lift was installed. Things can be fined tuned with the front torsion bars if needed.
nice very nice job
Another question for you, what is the wheel width and backspacing?
20x9 with a 00 offset.
Do you still have this truck?
How did you reset the odometer or is it a new one?
The brand name front bumper thks
Nice conversion!! How much was the total cost of the job?? Am thinking of converting to diesel in my vehicle also..
Approximately $45k.
What's the part number for that roof rack?
Smittybilt 45654
Im not at liberty here to tell you what you could cut off for me to have one of these!!!
Did it have the 6.5 diesel in it before the cummins?
454 Gas
Do you still do conversions? Where are you located?
Hey Don - We're located in the Pacific NW, though our customers come from all over the country. We do these conversions on the regular, but we're lucky to have a whole lot more interest in us building projects than we actually have manpower or time to accomplish. We're currently booked out for 2022 and not yet taking projects for 2023. We choose our customers very carefully along the following criteria:
(1) Do you have a cool project?
(2) Are you a patient, encouraging, enthusiastic person?
(3) Are you confident enough in our integrity to understand that it costs what it costs?
(4) Are you confident enough in our process to understand that, timeline-wise, it takes what it takes?
Thanks for the inquiry!
Just curious, but why would a person put a Cummins in a suburban? I see some of these swaps, but diesel is more expensive, and regular gasoline has enough torque to break stuff in these vehicles.
The Cummins is a very reliable mechanical diesel that can get excellent milage and tow anything. Also the only full size SUV with a diesel that is decent is a Ford Excursion. So if you want to haul your family and tow a big trailer and not get 8 MPG you don't have many OEM options. Lastly these trucks are very well built and heavy duty and do not have any issues handling the weight or torque of a reasonably built Cummins.
Because it gets 18mpg Instead of 10mpg for the 454 (7mpg towing a camper) and will last longer
