    Just downloaded their latest build 0.2.5 and now the copy / paste is working on Linux, and got a report from a Windows user that it's working there as well... so huge step forward in my book. Also, locla image import is also available now in 0.2.5! Awesome!

    I really love AppFlowy. I want to see 4 things for it in the future:
    1 - An AppFlowy SyncServer, like Joplin Server, because file syncing methods for applications like this are not always ideal - especially in the case where you have your workstation and your laptop running the same application on the shared file and then a modification happens on each while both are open, then the databases overwrite each other and it becomes a mess
    2 - a native mobile app which can join that sync server
    3 - users and groups integration
    4 - OpenLDAP integration (so I can use my FreeIPA)

    I really like the look of this. My only hold back is no access on a mobile app. I am dealing with Obsidian/Syncthing but this looks a lot better in the UI. Most of my notes start on mobile and get developed on a desktop.

      Totally understand. I've got some high hopes that AppFlowy is going to be a break away hit with just a bit more time. Totally a bit of software I'd contribute to monetarily if they can get a few more bits built out.

      It's pretty cool, but I'd say stick with Jopline a bit more til AppFlowy has a bit more time to mature.

    Hi, great video, thank you very much!
    Can you tell me how can I sync desktop app with mobile app?

    • @AwesomeOpenSource
      @AwesomeOpenSource  6 місяців тому

      I'm not sure about that. I didn't try the mobile app. Syncing by keeping the documents in NextCloud was my solution, but perhaps using SyncThing on desktop and mobile?

      Just be careful. I put a little warning in the Description. The short of it is, there is no copy paste from AppFlowy yet. It's being worked on, or will be worked on in the future, but right now, you won'at be able to copy out anything you put in.

      @@AwesomeOpenSource Hey, actually it seems to be working on Windows.
      Image pasting into AppFlowy seem to not be functional, but I was able to copy-paste out of the app into a notepad and could see the data in the Windows Clipboard.
      Clearly some work is required but it might be enough for my current needs. Cheers again!

      @@zparihar Given that it seems they are entirely focused on companies rather than everyone. Not sure. Can't give an opinion on something that doesn't let me signup without a business email. What constitutes as a business email..? Gmail certainly doesn't, but a business can use Gmail as much as they like..
      Edit: Managed to get the docker container running on my server and I have to say, it's not very feature rich.. It's just a plain kanban board from what I can see..

    Very nice video and comprehensive introduction to AppFlowly. For AF the Server sync is missing. I know there are concrete plans for this and it will take a while, just like to mention that this with end-to-end encryption would make it a game changer.

      I agree it's nice to have a built on sync, but I've been using it with sync to my NextCloud instance with great success. Just depends if you intend more than one person to be editing documents at the same time or not I think.

    This instant goes to the top of my top 10 productivity tools, and for 1 simply reason, the document-area has flexible width... I've tried a dozen similar apps recently, and they were created fixed-width, which was OK in 2005... But in 2023, where people have 4k or UltraWide monitors, it's just f*cking stupid.

    Who writes an application like this these days as a monolithic thick client, rather than a web based one. Mind boggling.

    • @AwesomeOpenSource
      @AwesomeOpenSource  Рік тому +6

      I like the fact that it's an installable app. Means I'm not dependent on a network connection or internet to access my information. More convenient for a web client, yes, but I think there is some work to dockerize it so you'd be able to get to it through a browser interface at some point.

    Kanban is basically 'post-it notes'. Not real project management that deals with time-lines, resources, dependencies, pert, and critical path, etc. Kanban was developed for car factory to control workers activities, per, hour, per day. Real project managers, also have to manage not only themselves, but manage, their managers to some extent. Kanban is too limited. Keep it for shopping lists ! I asked you many months ago to cover real project management software instead, but so far have not seen any.

    • @AwesomeOpenSource
      @AwesomeOpenSource  Рік тому +4

      So, yes, Kanban alone isn't a great project management tool, but Kanban tied to Calendared events and due dates, and lists of things to mark as completed, starts to make a really good option for a project management tool. That's what AppFlowy has. I agree, it's not quite there, but it's getting there. I've seen 100s of Project Managers working from a spreadsheet as their primary tool, so AppFlowy has a leg up on that.

      Hmmmm. Ok, I'll look around and see. For patient records, something like @Baserow might fit the bill, as it's pretty configurable to whatever your needs are. I'll have to look around for monitors. That might also involve some custom building against APIs, but we'll see.
