I took my son Bryan Gossel to our first Knoxville nationals when he was 10 on his 10 birthday ! and now he has raced there . I helped Tim Green take his nationals car apart in the old Trosel Garage which is in the Museum ! Great clip thanks .
Racing history at it's best ! I grew up watching Jim Malloy and the Unsers. Racing was a lot of fun, I wish that so many drivers didn't get hurt or killed back then.
i was 7 in 1979 and i know i was at this race cause we never missed the outlaws at knoxville back then.those were great days indeed.i was a wolfie fan.when he got hurt sprints lost alotta of their appeal to me,ihardly ever go to knoxville now for sprints.i go now for lm's,mods and midgets.
@vintagesupermodified It's fine just the way it is, I can hear it in my mind's ear, and this song fits real well. Kinser looks so young, and the cars are still sportin those skinny front tires.
@vintagesupermodified WOW!! Thanks SO much for putting this up! Do you have any other footage from this era? Seeing "THE WOLF" and "The Flying Shoe" really takes me back! How old was Kinser, like 10? Joking... Take care Buddy.
I had the pleasure to be with my Brother Richard Brown who was Crew Chief For Doug wolfgnag in Gary Stantons Dozmore car, The night Wolfie won to WoO in Hanford Calif at kings Speedway. Wolfie gave my mom the trophy. He told her she put the winning wash on his unifrom..lol.. he had stayed a few nites during the week before the race. I have met many wOww from the begining because of my Boune Family connection and my brothers long career as a crew chief, he was metored by Kenny Woodrift.
@blm99 Screaming small blocks always sound better. When i got this clip, It had elevator music. "IF" I could get the fine art of dubbing down, I'd like to replace the music with the right sound, as I'm sure you agree. It would have to be so good, no one could tell it was done.
For young sprint fans, this is incredible footage of the storied history of our sport and its biggest event. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the video brings back a lot of great memories from my youth when you won races in the shop .Race what you Brung.

@StanBennet No, and IF I did, I wouldn't post it. Posting fatalities upsets those that were close to the drivers.
@JDGooseVideo Thank you!
at :30 it's Tim Green. I need to fix that.
Sorry Tim
@StanBennet No offense taken here nor intended to you. But I have had complaints of what has slipped through in regards to fatalities.
when was it made my guess is 19 something
That’s when men were men and everybody knew which bathroom to use!
