They offer adapter for non-canbus bikes?
Started the video, checked the link, saw the price and said "nope", saw the whole video with the light demo, now i want a set!
That looks incredible.
They do look a little big on the bike though.
I installed a set of these on my 1200 GSA, and hot damn are they bright! They look great. Thanks Ian for the review.
I also bought a 24' GSA before they're no longer available. Installed these lights a few weeks ago and they are amazing.
Ditto, and ditto
I've had the lights on my 1250 for two weeks now, and they are jaw-dropping. Installation took me a day, but I've never taken the plastics off my bike before. I could probably do it in a few hours if I had to do it again. That they work with the "wonder wheel," the turn signal switch, and the high beam selector is a huge bonus. I have emailed Lone Rider about certifications for the US. Anna replied on 19 Nov 24, "The certification is ongoing; bureaucracy takes far longer than expected. We will update the website soon with the relevant information for the US. But be aware, not all states have the same regulations. We can put DOT on the light, but some states have bylaws."
Did you got the wires underneath the tank or how did you do it? Thank you! 🙏🏻
@@GWBRXmoto @GWBRXmoto After removing the plastics on the tank, I was able to use gaffer tape to route the harness in place. Keep checking that they don't interfere with the plastics. The harness is just the right length to mount it this way. I removed the bolt at the back of the tank and routed the wire under that mount (there is space), then up and over the left side of the tank. The short one goes straight and the longer wire routes around the top/front of the tank and down behind the forks. I am using the under-nose mount and was able to zip-tie everything in place and out of the way. Like a bonehead, I just filled up the 30L tank so I wasn't too keen on taking it off but this solution worked great. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures.
@ thanks! I did manage to get it done. Lifted the tank just a little bit so the cables move freely. Thanks again 😉
I just received my set of lights. I pre-ordered from the first batch back in October. Boy are they big, and heavy!
I have yet to have them installed, hopefully next couple of weeks, but I'm looking forward to it.
I will say with all of the features and such, it's an impressive piece of kit, and a lot of folks are (rightly) grousing about the prices.
But that said, the primary reason I did get these lights was the price. Or, more so, the value. I originally was in search of a set of DRLs for my F750GS. And if you price just those out from Denali, or Clearwater, or other places, they're really expensive. Like these.
For the same amount of money, if I had gone with Denali, I would have just got the DRLs. Here, I get a whole suite of stuff: DRL, wide beam, high(er) beam, spot beam, turn and hazard integration, etc., well integrated into the bike (the options are a bit overwhelming to me at this point to be honest). And the fact that I got these on pre-order for 25% off just made them the best value at the time.
I know I could have got some (likely much) cheaper lights, but I did want something well integrated into the bike. Maybe an ezCan and some random lights from Amazon would have done the trick for 1/2 price (I honestly didn't know about the ezCan when I first bought these -- the ezCan is a key part of the magic for this system). But I wouldn't have got the entirety of this offering.
All told, I think it's a good value in this space.
The included mounts won't really work with my bike as is, or with my lower crash bars. Denali sells an under-fender mount for my bike that I plan on using for the install.
Looking forward to getting these done. Nice review.
Great job as usual.
I am glad to see that your review is inline with the opinion I expressed two months ago, when you published the Denali D7 Pro review, I commented the following:
-----
LoneRider sent Denali, Rigid, Clearwater and everybody else back to the drawing board, with its insane Motolights!!
Even lst week I was still pubbahing over the D7 Pro, that is, until Lone Rider came up with its MOtoLights. They are doing to the aux light market what they did to the soft luggage. Kudos to trailblazer Lone Rider. The Denali D7's reign was really brief, but bright, you have to give it that .
------
and then,
------
P.S. with the introductory price of $599 and 23200 lumen for the pair, the cost per lumen comes to $0.026. Wow!
------
Keep on the good work
Their innovation pushes the entire industry forward, it's great.
Will receive mine before the end of the year and i can't wait to take a ride with them.
Mine is on backorder and I am waiting for them as this video is out. looking forward to brighten up the roads! Sorry for missing about the kickback!
I bought for my 2023 r1250 gs adv and waiting to be shipped. Thanks for this great review.
Sweet, I just got mine for my 1300 and am excited to install them this weekend! I go the pre-release pre-order discount but glad to see they have a yearly sale too!
Hello from Dubai, UAE.
Just placed an order for the LR lights for my 1250 GSA TB after watching your video. Used your link :)
These lights look awesome. I have a friend who got these installed on his 1250 Triple Black GSA and the amber DRLs combined with the Headlight guard amber look stunning.
Cant wait to receive mine.
Great looking bike! I did the same thing: bought one of the last 2024 GSAs; not due to any negatives about the 1300, but simply because I love the outgoing model and feel it is perfectly designed and sorted out. I also live in semi-rural California, and one factor in considering adding auxiliary lights is that, other than dark, low traffic country roads, most California roads are too busy to use much more than the standard lights (which themselves are much better now than previously). All that said, the LR system certainly seems to be well ahead of the competition regarding the light features and the CAN bus setup, and they look great on the GSA.
Great news, I will bring the cappuccino maker on the next trip now that I know you have extra plugs!!
we totally need that!
Being in the US it would be great if you could find someone with a pair of Baja Designs XL80 Drive/Combo lights fitted to compare the Motolights with. I have the Baja Designs and I am pretty sure they have a wider spread and slightly less reach than the Lone Riders which here in Australia is slightly more useable as our skippys tend to launch from close quarters :) The BD lights put out 19,000 lumens which is going to be almost indistinguishable from the 23,000 lumens of the Motolights. Both manufacturer's lights cost around US$800 a pair for the lights only. The 160W draw of the BD lights is also a little easier on the bike's electrical circuit than the 180W of the Motolights. Anyway, a good review, thanks.
Thank you, Anne for this great video. Wow, those things light up the road like a landing strip when I need auxiliary lights I’ll definitely use your links. Looking forward to the next video. Thank you.
Boy, you did such a great job reviewing the Denali D7 Pro's, I had my heart set on them!
Now I'm doubting that decision. Luckily I'm a few months away from purchasing them, so nothing lost. However, I would like to make sure that the 'amber' on these would work well as fog-lights in foggy conditions.
GS has the best lights of all bikes, so good that you just installed a grand worth of additional lights. Amazing.
Key word there Bud was: “acceptable.”
@BigRockMoto Ian, you might also want to give the Motopegs a look.
love mine, only drawback is you have to change the shift linkage to a modified shorter one (1/4" shorter overall) to clear most boot toes with the rubber inserts installed, it is a workable solution though.
Looks fantastic Ian! Thanks for posting this. However, at the moment, I've got too much invested in a Denali CANsmart system on my RT to change. I also have a Neutrino Aurora Black Box controller; which in my opinion, is the best controller on the market. 6 circuits rated at 25 amps each - total system rating 60 amps. Almost unlimited customization through an app on your phone connected via LE BT, and many more features too numerous to list here. There's no denying the power of the those lights though.
Very nice indeed. If I wasn’t in need of some other expensive items for a couple bikes I’d grab some.
One day sooner than later I hope.
Thanks for sharing Ian and I hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving!
🦃 🏍️💨
Thanks for the video. I'm a huge fan.
Can you tell us witch GS moto buttons do you use to activate or the lights, or interchange the 4 type of lights? (ring light, wide beam, high beam and spot beam)?
Thanks!
Over 1000 bucks for a set of lights??????
clearwater denali etc same.. insanity.. drive during the day
Every time you think this Regarding a piece of gear that increases safety, think this "How much is my Life Worth to Me?"
This why China is slowly but surely gaining western motorcycle market share. There’s always a cheap Chinese product that performs good enough for the majority of weekend warriors. $1000 is something a rally race team could justify for an actual race.
@@jonasbaine3538Unfortunately, the pending 60% tariffs will make products made in China unaffordable.
I’ve been using Clearwater lights since 2010. I do a lot of night riding, and when you put them on full high beam, it puts out a quarter mile of daylight. Expensive, yes. If you just want running lights, get a cheaper version.
Thank you for clarifying these only need one spot in the ezcan, installation videos seem to point in that direction but it was not clear to me why Denali needs more.
Because each connection is only rated to 10 amps and the Motolights exceed that.
I just purchased a 1250 GSA Rallye too, I'm going to put those lights on my Christmas wish list. What highway pegs are you using? Thanks Ian and see you out in Anza Borrego!
I have rode and will ride all kinds of bikes. Those would be great on a Harley ultra also. Man them things are BRITE. Cool video bud. Thanks for the hard work.
its “ Ridden”
@ cut me some slack I’m a hillbilly. 😎
Very cool lights and I’m sure worth the $$$ to some folks but what cracks me up is when someone says “they are the best you can get” and a few breaths more say “I don’t ride that much at night anyway”. 😅😅
These are some impressive lights.
Hello, can I know which company the connector glass to the windshield is from and whether it obstructs vision or is it comfortable and safe for driving?
I bought the last 1250 GS Adventure in triple black.
You might want to put a serious set of horns on that really nice R1250 ADV. Some Fiamm Freeway Blasters, Glad you got one. That's a proven great machine. Just because a new model came along really doesn't mean much. It was top dog for a long time. Millions of rider miles under it. Great looking lights. Wild animals and crazy people really stand out. Wattage, how much do they draw full 100%? Not many bikes can support very much electric draw. Warranty? I'll check their site. All good.
Technically these lights are really top level, but I see two things that stop me from ordering the Motolights. First, the wide lights are less effective than the D7 pro. The D7 pro has a wider light beam, which improves safety and visibility for the rider. Secondly, in my opinion the center light is disturbing and takes away the attention of the rider, which again does not improve safety. I would like to have the best of these two brands, that is the technology of the Motolights and the performance of the D7 pro. Untill then I will be purchasing the Denali D7 Pro. Thank you for the video, Keep up the good work. I'm a follower from the Netherlands.
Have these lights or the BMW high beam light AUTO function built in like many cars now have ? Just in case you don't know what I am talking about. Some cars can automatically turn on/off the high beam when oncoming traffic is detected. I found this super useful as you don't need to remember to do it manually or get flashed by oncoming traffic.
I have Baja design LP4 on my GSA. They are a great option too
Do they make a bundle for Ducati?
Last week I watched your review of the Denali D7 Pro and you said that was the best out there, so I ordered them in a bundle that included the B6 tail light. Then I watched this review and you say these are better. Good thing Denali let me cancel my order and I was able to order the Lone Riders with the Black Friday sale. Will the Motocan and the Denali B6 tail light work together? I sure hope you don't order a better light before I get these installed.
Fantastic bike 😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I wish they had a plug and play MotoCan for my Triumph Tiger. They said they have no expected date for them to release it, if they even do.
Ian, are we twins now? I have a 1250GSA and a 2024 KTM Exc-f 350 :)
And a CRF 300L but that will be sold in spring.
Is it possible to use with BMW oem aux lights?
Can you make a video on how to turn on/off different parts of these lights? Specifically, how to just turn on flood beams manually at night.
My use case is that I dont want these ON for riding around town and rather have just the orange DRLs for visibility but would like to turn on just the flood lights on regaular crowded freeway.
Not a bad price essentially for 4 lights in one.
Can you use these lights with the CanSmart controller Gen 2 from Denali?
You rarely meet any motorcyclists at night on the roads 😂
Ugh, there is no mounting kit for the T7. 💔
Give them time, brand new product, sure it will happen, be sure to let them know of your interest though.
Impressive. Ciao, Marco.
Where is the kove 800 review?😢
You should try an AJP PR7 next.
BMW has one of the best OEM lights on a motorcycle, period. But a set of Aux lights can do wonders to be "seen" and to see in country roads.
As a Clearwater Erica/Billie light user, I believe this is one of best true competition to them. I have great success in twisties in TX and AR. Vehicles behind and on opposite side give me the respect and space without me being an idiot. I never use more than 70% of what my lights can put out.
The biggest difference is the user interface to customize the settings. Button presses and pulls are so 1990s. Clearwater team... if you are listening, we love you but you need to work on the user interface or risk losing business to Lone Rider.
The issue with all this brands is that they use a cold 6000 kelvin colour, which is very tiring for the eye and also reflects a lot the dust and fog. It even reflects the asphalt as if it was white instead of black. Same on the dirt, it looks white instead of brown.
For the same reason the potholes are not so easy to spot.
So the only option with them to ride comfortably is choosing their yellow lense to make the tone warmer, but at the cost of reducing the output a lot.
The right colour for driving lights in normal conditions is 5000 kelvin, which is pure white.
So far I only know Baja Designs offering that colour, and that's their biggest selling point.
Unfortunately their design sizes and shapes are not so friendly with motorcycles.
Paying over a grand for these lights only makes some sense if I often ride in low light situations, or at night. Which I don’t. Personally I try and make sure my rides are over before the sun goes down. But if I don’t beat the sun to my destination my Denali S4’s are way more than enough to help me get there safely. I’ll stick with them.
Who is the Chinese manufacturer? Seams good!
can you use all those lights in conjunction with heated jacket, gloves and pants?
You may be able to, but it would all depend upon the alternator output of your bike. What bike do you own?
Have you compared Clearwater lights?
yeah, that's what he mentioned in the video
What brand of windshield spoiler is that on the Gs?
Puig, large size clip on
Ye - very nice stuff 🤔🤔🤔 Pity that many bike companies install, mostly, crappy lights.
Yes, that's a big pet peeve of mine.
Why did you sell your GS 1300 man?
Have you try loboo light ?
He ain’t going review it if he doesn’t get it for free.
Hi, they are fantastic. However, I still think that Denali D7 Pros are doing better especially with the floods at 20%. (Based on your previous video). Regarding Lone Rider’s Motolights, even though the bottom four is dedicated to the fog or flood they are not performing well compared to Denali D7 Pros. For sure that’s what I see from your recordings.
Keep in mind, Ian had the Motolight's flood beam set at only 10%. I would expect a doubling of output at the same 20% as the D7 Pros.
@ I understand. However, when I compare the fill rate on the sides even on full blast, D7 pro’s floods seem to be better performing to me. I don’t know may be I’m wrong.
Pre ordered mine for 800 and installed before they put out any instructions. If the instructions were out when I did mine then it would have been easier
Can I put them on the Aprilia Tuareg?
Good question.👍
The Hex ezCAN Arno is available for Aprilia Tuareg 660 and supports the MotoLights
ty
I can’t wait to get these so I can blind every goofball blinding everyone else with insanely bright headlights.
It appears these lights will not work with the Motocan controller which is currently only available on certain motorcycles. I was curious if anyone found a way around this issue.
Keep an eye out for KTM fire sale that might be coming soon. In case you don't know they have just entered self-admiration to cut cost left / right and centre and are in real trouble. In those document filing it also states that they will stop producing bikes in January and February completely because of excess stock.
That's all very bad news for KTM BUT potentially great news for anybody planning on buying one. I personally can't get over the chocolate cam issue and wouldn't want one even at half price. But they are not all bad so might be worth the risk if the price is right.
What does Pierer Mobility's financial issues have to do with Lone Rider and their lights? 🤔
I balked at the price…but, safety is worth it since I commute and often at night AND you can move from bike to bike so the price means I can move to other bikes if I sell it. It’s an investment.
The only thing I haven't figured out is that I only have a desktop... no way to hook the can to the bike and computer at the same time being 3 stories away...
Similar situation here. My laptop died, and my wife's Apple doesn't have the proper outlets. 😞
Awsome lights but somewhat expensive. Riding in the UK they have somewhat limited use as the roads are so busy. Riding around blinding other road users ain't best! Great kit though.
Anyone using the denali canbus with these?
$1000, thats a no from me dawg.
I perfer my Diode Dynamics.
I've always planned on not riding at night because it's unsafe to ride slow enough on the freeway to not overdrive my moto headlamps... until now?
My only question is, can I light up the road far enough to ride at freeway speeds and avoid debris but without blinding other drivers? Sorry if this was covered in the video, but it seemed like the high beams were the main focus. I'm specifically wondering if I can get enough throw at low beam.
Thanks for the great review!
I would think it is a given that if you are running these on "full blast" you would be blinding other drivers and need to dim for oncoming traffic, just like with high beams.
A guy on UA-cam, who seems mostly concerned about us using his affiliate links for shopping, tells me that the product he got for free, ist the best he ever used?
Have seen too much of these shit an won’t believe any of what you said.
I guess if you never ride at night it doesn’t matter. I just save $1k too
Problem is, most impacts with wildlife, ie deer, are them running into you from the side. I know, it sucks but it’s the truth.
no ore KTM videos? 😆
I try not to ride at night.
Same here. I did a day run last January to Death Valley/Lone Pine and ended up out later than I anticipated. Man the ride back through Red Rock and Dove Springs was pitch black. Tried to keep a car in front of me so any potential critters would run in front of them and not me.
And when there wasn't a car for me to follow, there was just enough oncoming traffic that these lights would have been useless.
During the day I just keep my stock fog lights on on my Tiger for a little extra visibility to other motorist.
I used to work evenings, so one half of my commute was always at night. Anywhere from 8 pm to 4 am, through the Florida swamps, with deer, hogs, and gators. I had D7s on the bike at that time, and they helped immensely. I'm still in the process of installing my Motolights, and don't ride as much anymore but I'm looking forward to finishing up the installation.
Mad money and even then sold out. How much cash do BMW riders have? Or is everyone just addicted to credit card? 😮
Never underestimate the amount of equity these 50+ age people have.
Keep cheaping out on safety equipment and you'll end up in an early grave.
@@Waldo1122 Oh no I died because I didn't buy expensive extra lights for when I ride in daylight
@@HypeRapEnjoyer These lights makes you more visible in the day. You think cars only pull out in front of you at night?
@@Waldo1122 My point is the most expensive brand is not necessarily needed man 🙂
A bit unrelated, but, the GSA looks like a mutated bird, staring into your soul.
$1k for lights is nuts you are better off looking at other lights. Many bash on chinese products but almost all your products are already made in China (maybe these too idk).
$1k\ I will never buy these lights
I will my life is worth more than 1k !
stop promoting overpriced items. Not everyone can buy a $30,000 BMW GS with $900 lights and $1,500+ trunks. There are very few people who can afford this. Advertise for the normal person with an average salary.
Are all your viewers super rich…. Crazy crazy amount of money generally on here…. Show us some value products….. show us where the great performance at value lays maybe?
Over a 1k um nope the are sweet but not over a 1k sweet.
$1000 haha
« Even 80 miles/h in the middle of the night in the country, complete confidence… », until you hit a dear blinded by your lights ! Just kidding but I have the D7 Pro with the same ridding pleasure at night but I’m always extra careful because this is the time wildlife is up and about !!!
