    Fun Fact: Michael Jackson wanted to actually make a movie depicting the Ancient Egyptians according to who they really were, black people. He went to lots of his Hollywood friends like Steven Spielberg for assistance, but they said no. So the genius of MJ, decided to tell the story through this iconic music video. To this day, it's one of the only mainstream depictions portraying the Ancient Egyptians accurately.

    • @bdalani1985
      @bdalani1985 3 роки тому +108

      @instagram user You can usually tell you're talking with someone uneducated when they assume every black person speaking on a particular subject matter is American, as though African American is the default for a black person. I've never even been to America.
      Also, I'm acutely aware of what North Africans look like TODAY, but my comment was referring to ANCIENT EGYPTIANS. Modern Egyptians and Ancient Egyptians are two completely different people. No different to how Modern Americans and Native Americans are two completely different people. The Arabs arrived in North African in the 6th century AD as invaders. Research The Arab Conquest of North Africa. Thats over 1,000 years AFTER Ancient Egypt fell. Arabs have as much to do with Ancient Egypt as white people have to do with the Aztec civilization. Ancient Egypt was originally as black as any other civilization on the African continent.

      @@bdalani1985 It depends on when you look at it, it's really kind of disputed honestly. But they for sure had at the very least quite some black influence even at later stages

    • @bdalani1985

      @@LAKD "At the later stages?" So what race was responsible for Ancient Egypt before "the later stages?" The first king of Ancient Egypt was Narmer Menes, go look at what he looked like. It's only disputed because Europeans and Arabs have manipulated the history of Egypt so much that it confuses the uneducated. What's even more insulting is people like you like to give an Egyptian identity to invaders. Just because people like the Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, etc invaded Egypt, and lived there for a while, it does NOT make them Egyptian. You can't murder your way into a culture. America invaded Iraq in 2003, does that make the population in Iraq American now?

    Michaels "music videos" were different from everyone back then because he made it as short films. Having a story mixed in with his music and dancing. Now you see it much more with artists .. because MJ was ahead of his time and always was 10 steps ahead of the music industry. Would've loved to see his impact during the social media era though.

Like the artists you guys mentioned but Chris Brown was heavily influenced by Michael he even talked about it I believe in a documentary where he would sit in front of the Tv watching his videos & live performances learning Michael’s dance moves, footsteps, etc. y’all should react to Chris Browns tribute performance to Michael Jackson. I believe there’s 2 or 3 but the one when he passed was sad & it hit Chris Brown deep cause you can see it in his emotions & he broke down on stage & live television.

Racism and violence was rampant at this time this was still the crack era especially in the black community. Besides him feeling the need to prove his “blackness” it was also to show black people we are black kings and queens. Remember where we come from…. It’s deeper than just “happy and have fun”

    When it came to Michael he really made music videos that were versatile like they were very creative imaginative he did things that people didn't do the fact that he had different types of people in his music videos divisions that he had they weren't just music videos they were more like movies.
    I would say hiw work was aways unique and creative not to mention diverse like that in the 90s amd early 00s . We always did futuristic stuff with modern tones and incorporated so many different things like platform or space boots, colorful hair, elongated necks, turning into different creatures, having it be diverse with the dancers and the cast so different ranges of people .
    Michael made music that was generally for pretty much everybody, no matter where you come from r what age they loved him.
    The fact that he was injured while doing a live version of this at an award show and he, really wanted to dance and go all in
    He couldn't move too much but still gave his all had fun dn got a standing ovation

    Hey, absolutely agree with what you're saying. Everything being 100% 'perfect' - is that really life? I don't know. Need some drama is a good way of putting it - needing stimulation is a better way of putting it.

    It's not just Michael....artists in general put a lot of effort into their videos back in the day.....GnR's November Rain is a prime example of that, Prince's diamonds and Pearls etc.
