    I lived just off The Loop for 12 years and logged thousands of miles on it during my time there. Tucson is great if you prefer a bike over a car as your primary means of transportation. Everything I needed was a short bike ride or walk on The Loop; it was probably the best use of taxpayer money in the history of Pima County.

    Hello. We are a family planning to move to Tucson, I would like to read your comments on suggestions for renting places (house or apartments) to live close to the loop... are there schools or high schools close to the loop? I have a 18 and 12 children.... Besides, which places along the loop do you recommend us for living? Thanks a lot. I have already subscribed to your channel. Excellent videos for people willing to go there!!!!

      Hi there thank you for reaching out! Did you receive my email? Was able to answer most of your questions? Unfortunately, I do not do rentals, but I sent some links an additional information that I think would be helpful. Thank you and have a great day!

    Enjoyed your video. 2 questions -- can you order a copy of the map from Pima Maps and where/what part of the city would be your suggestion for hotel/motels choices if riding the loop was a main part of a trip to Tucson ? Keep up the great videos.

    • @TucsonArizona
      @TucsonArizona  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the view and comment! You may want to consider staying somewhere near or off of River Road, (in between La Cholla to Craycroft), because in addition to the Loop, you will have easy access to restaurants, shopping, other small businesses, and really nice parks.

      I’m not sure if you can purchase maps anywhere, although you probably can… But they are easy to download online and they change often because certain areas are often under construction and being built. I hope you enjoy your trip here! 😎🌵☀️

    The loop isn't a good place to ride if you are an older resident or a tourist since ebikes are not legally permitted, although the level of enforcement isn't clear. If you are a resident you are stuck with Tucson's poorly paved streets; if you are a older tourist who is worried about committing a class 2 misdemeanor you can seek out a more ebike friendly place to visit.

    • @TucsonArizona
      @TucsonArizona  2 роки тому

      It’s true that anything electric (E bikes and E scooters) aren’t supposed to be used on the loop, but they can be used downtown and in other places in the city. The loop is really nice for cyclists and pedestrians and even skateboarders, roller skaters and roller bladers, and even horseback riders.

    • @davidgantz6806
      @davidgantz6806 2 роки тому +2

      @@TucsonArizona Why would anyone (except for commuting) want to bike in downtown in traffic, and on Tucson's poorly paved secondary and tertiary roads, when the alternative is many miles of scenic, well-paved Loop bike path? The supervisors' ban on ebikes is a solution looking for a problem. If there is any danger on the Loop it is younger cyclists riding lightweight road bikes faster than traffic conditions permit, certainly much faster than the maximum 15 mph speeds achieved by most older ebike riders. If my memory is correct in the past there was a posted 15 mph speed limit on Rillito Rover portion of the Loop. THAT was a sensible rule!

    • @BikeLaveen
      @BikeLaveen Рік тому

      Plenty of people use ebikes on the Loop. Just ride like a person on a bicycle and not someone riding a moped. Throttling around will most likely get you some attention while pedaling around under 15 mph would help you blend in. If you need an ebike for mobility issues, I would suggest having some sort of documentation of your disability if you are worried about getting stopped. I think The Loop used a broad brush when prohibiting all classes of ebikes because of how hard it is to enforce. I'm guessing the real concern is people riding ebikes/one wheels/scooters in a manner that makes it uncomfortable for pedestrians and acoustic cyclers. A LOT of ebikes are fat tire bikes with rear hub motors and knobby tires which makes them loud and can detract from the peace of The Loop.

      @@BikeLaveen
      "acoustic cyclers" I love that term. I've also seen the name "analog bikes".
      The official policy is that pedal assist e-bikes are allowed on the 53 mile main loop but not throttle equipped. So a 20 mph class 2 e-bike would violate the policy but a 28 mph pedal assist class 3 would be fine.
      In California they split the bikes by speed instead of equipment, so class 1 and 2 are legal on mixed use trails, but the faster class 3 and 4 are not.
      Although again, if you keep the speed down the police can't tell how fast your bike is capable of.
      And we don't have anything on the level of the Loop system here in San Diego.
