    So the most requested video is here!!! I did a mini analysis of how much does it cost to live in Prague... The cheapest way possible and a bit above the standard... I did both options for you to watch! Let me know what you think? Could you live with this budget?
    Hello and welcome to my channel! My name is Andrea and I’m so happy you are stopping by here! My husband Jan and I live in Prague, Czech Republic. I work from home so all my videos are home-related, cooking and lifestyle! I also love to share things about Czech Republic and how it is like to live here! I love cooking and preparing, delicious yet cheap dinner ideas, with ingredients you can find almost anywhere! I also do grocery hauls to show you what I buy each week… I know how hard is to get organized in the cooking/eating part of life, so I hope my videos can help you out! I hope you will stick around and subscribe for more videos like this!!

    Small correction. The pass for public transport is INCLUDING trains in the territory of Prague (zone zero). :-)

      Try different city than Prague. Prague its like other EU main cities. For example try Plzeň, Olomouc, Ostrava or Brno. They are slightly cheaper and you can also find good job there. And its maybe better start of living in czech rep.

    Just to be clear:
    The average pay of 37500 CZK is a value for whole Czech Republic but the costs listed are solely for Prague.
    Hence i would like to clarify that average pay in Prague is actually 42 760 CZK.
    Also if you pay for public transport on yearly basis it costs only about 300 CZK per month.

    • @ArepasforDinner
      @ArepasforDinner  4 роки тому +1

      Borek Hanzl unfortunately babe according to 5 different sources the average moves between 28K and 40K making it average around 32K. And also if you rely on public transport is about to go to 500 per month so that’s that. If you are making more good for you! ;)

    Andrea, zabudli ste povedať, že domy v Českej republike sú postavené z tehál, betónu a nie z drevených trámikov a drevotriesky. Prípadne má aj pivnicu (tie novšie už nie). Takže pochopiteľne je cena vyššia.

      Then you should check my video on the real estate crisis in Prague... I'm 100% with you... I feel people move to Prague cause of the "low cost" but once they are here is like a wakeup call... And now we have much more inflation than what we had when I made the video... Rents went up almost 15% since then... Fruits and veggies 20% water and electricity 10%.. Insane! Oh and salaries stayed the same of course :'(

    We are a family of 4 (two kids - just turned 2 years old and a 10 month old) and we try to made do with 33-34 000 czk/month including everything - rent, utilities, groceries, gas, car insurance, health insurance for me (I don't work), phones, internet, etc. However, it takes a ton budgeting and planning. Czech Republic is very expensive.
    I have lived in 4 EU countries and CZR is unfortunately the most expensive of them all so far.

    • @ArepasforDinner
      @ArepasforDinner  4 роки тому

      Wow!! Really??? I can't imagine how you guys make it!.. I guess outside of Prague is more doable in Prague it would be almost impossible... Rent by itself of a 2 bedroom apartment + living and kitchen is around 16K in a panelak... It would be hard

    • @HristinaSedlackova
      @HristinaSedlackova 4 роки тому

      @@ArepasforDinner Oh, I forgot the going out budget but that is not a lot ~1k a month. Since the kids are not restaurant friendly yet and we take mostly only coffee when out and about.
      It is not easy but is doable (I have lived with much less in Denmark as a student). And yes the biggest chunk goes for rent. We live in Prague 17 which has good connection by tram to the center and is also close to shopping centers so we don't drive far. I also don't pay for the public transport when I have the kids with me (which is pretty much always).
      To be honest, we started managing our spendings a bit better since we limited the eating out (primarily because of the kids) and also my husband takes lunch from home. However, meal planning and grocery shopping only with a list helps to not overspend as well.

      it’s a known fact that living as a family is much cheaper than a single person. Not to mention a solid social support for mothers and small children from the Czech government (and you’ve got two kids and from what I understand you’re a citizen, so your health insurance is also being covered by the government). Not to mention that rent prices are lower for locals renting from locals (it’s not a secret they charge more from for rent from foreigners).

    Qué piensas sobre conseguir empleo en español o inglés cuándo eres estudiante? Es complicado? Podrías sobrevivir con un salario de estudiante?

    • @ennaarts
      @ennaarts 4 роки тому +1

      El salario mínimo son 100ck/hora, con un trabajo a tiempo parcial podrías hacer unos 10.000 antes de impuestos. Al ser estudiante todo salario que no supere los 10k está exento de pagar impuestos. Una habitación en un piso compartido son como 8.000ck pero puedes reducirlo a 4.000 si la compartes con alguien más. Eso te deja con 6.000ck para transporte, comida, teléfono y otros gastos. Ten en cuenta que en muchos trabajos de estudiante la seguridad social y sanitaria no está incluida por lo que debes de hacerte con un seguro privado. Lo bueno es que hay muchos descuentos al ser estudiante, por ejemplo el transporte es como un 70% más barato. Lo malo es que los precios de todo son igual o mayores que en otras ciudades (ropa, cosméticos, comida...) Es bastante complicado pero se puede si te buscas los mejores precios y te ajustas mucho el cinturón. Yo llevo un par de años viviendo así y se puede, pero no es ideal. Olvídate de ahorrar y lo vas a pasar mal si hay situaciones como la del coronavirus ahora. Lo mejor, si es posible para ti, sería trabajar a tiempo parcial y que tus padres te apoyen con un extra hasta que termines de estudiar. ¡Suerte!

    The prices are very high in relation to income. Prices are almost on pair with Sweden but a basic salary in Czech R is even less that social welfare in Sweden. Why are prices so high when salaries are so low? The math dont add up. Is it poor competition on the market?

    • @ArepasforDinner
      @ArepasforDinner  2 роки тому

      I think it’s cause the companies that actually hire here do it cause of the low salaries. So yeah there’s no unemployment but salaries are horrible. On top of that there’s no real salary range. Like a person that makes little would make 800 euros and a person that makes a lot would make 2.500 euros (both low salaries compared to the range in for example Spain where a poor person makes 1000 euros and a person that makes good money makes 6000 euros

    With the average Czech salary, CZ is definitely unlivable
    You need at least 80K per month, after taxes to live in Prague, even more.
    Imagine, you have a family with 2 or 3 child, they have to go to school, you need an apartment, furnished, with 3 bedrooms, definitely more than 60 sqm, maybe you will buy one instead of renting for crazy amounts; you need at least one car (if you have child). You have to pay health insurance for them. You have to eat, buy clothes for the kids (in CZ clothes are ridiculous and too expensive) Must pay water, gas, electricity
    I ensure you 60K after taxes is not enough, is nothing
    The thing is that at the end of everything, you get nothing special in this country. Quality of everything is even very low

    • @ArepasforDinner
      @ArepasforDinner  4 роки тому +2

      Antonio Colucci indeed is not enough for a family I was just talking about a couple. It yeah for a family you need a bigger place. At least on my standards. But right now I don’t have much info about it cause we are not there yet and we wanted to do this based on our experience and our friends. You are totally right. Honestly right now Prague is quite unlivable for a family moving in with kids as you say
