    Hey Ben, Glad to see you back at it. I bought your gasifier bible a year or so ago. Hope to get it built this winter. One of the most intriguing parts of the book was the Waste Bot section. Look forward to following your work again!

    Hey Ben, what you are doing here is really cool. Taking a gasifier and finding heaps of practical accessories to make it even more versatile. Not just a backup emergency energy source. With your double bottom hot tub, are you circulating hot gas or ignited gas?

    • @VictoryGasworks
      @VictoryGasworks  5 років тому +3

      I had it set up to recycle the hot gas, not burn it, but you have to be close to the machine to get the heat.

    Great video, I'm going to buy your book, looks like you've done a great job to make it simple for people like me. Just wondering with your design, how long one batch burns for and what size generator I could run ? Or generally how much gas 1 batch would generate ?

    got the book couple days ago from amazon, been interested in gasafiers since i was younger. I really like that you go into the how it works, temp ranges that happen etc. its quite thourough on the build process anyone with even just ok fab skills, some tools could do it.
    ill be getting the parts to make it over the coming months. So far I have the 2 100lb propane tanks and the ceramic insulation. I'll probably be taking piks or video if the build process along the way. End goal is to power my older toyota pickup with it.

    How long would the full gas bag run a Honda 2000 generator? I’m trying to compare that to gas or propane. How much energy is in there? Can it be compressed?

    • @ucoder8905
      @ucoder8905 2 роки тому

      This gas cannot be safely compressed practically by a home person. Hydrogen will escape from the smallest gaps and easily reaches ignition temperatures at high pressures. The liquid stage at room temp pressure required for hydrogen is also prohibitively high.
      So, this background helps answer your question. The engine will very quickly go though the bag (maybe a few minutes for that size bag, like 5 or 7). The solution for almost any gassifier application in my opinion is to produce the gas when it is needed, but have buffers like this bag or a gasomoter for fuel exchanges.

    • @ucoder8905

      My concept will be fed by pellets and ignited on demand. I have a device (to to expensive) that grinds scrap wood and process it into pellets.

    Are YOU, yourself, selling a built-up ready-to-use, long-life (stainless ???) gasifier ?
    I am finding trouble contacting any manufacturers (except in Finland) of "off-the-shelf",
    fine-tuned, long-life, ready-to-use, commercial quality, bug-free, Pryrolysis (sp ?) Gasifiers.

      If you dont know about my company, I am one of the few leading companies in the US that build small scale gasifier systems. My reactor cores are 1/4 wall cast SS.
      The reason you may not be finding full SS systems is; You dont want to go full SS in a gasifier, SS retains heat and once the gas has left the reactor we want to get rid of the heat to drop its moisture. SS has to be very carefully engineered in the reactor as well. It will be subject to over stress as it will grow as it is heated. This expansion will create stress on the steel if it can not dissipate that growth and lead to stress failures.
      The metals used beyond the reactor are not subject to oxidization as the gas is void of oxygen. If the unit is shut down for a period of time or stored you would simply rinse it out. I also use an industrial coating internally beyond the reactor that nearly indestructible. This keeps cost down and in market price point reach. Full SS for my machines more than quadrupedal the cost. I could certainly build a full SS version. But cost would be very high with longer lead time.
      I offer a fully automated (turnkey) 5 kW power station for $10,500.00 It features a Honda GX 630 V twin engine with a 13 kW peak output generator head. This will produce 36 kW/ hours pr hopper fill. It is fully automatic other than initiating modes from its touch screen interface. Im pretty much the only manufacture at that level in this scale of machine in the world.

      @@VictoryGasworks Ben - we are in Northern Nevada and since the whole 2 year episode seems to never end... what is the price of the unit that you have in your video and is it able to operate a 6.5 kw Onan gas generator? I am still ordering the book but this has gone on for far too long and I need power up on the mountain. It will also be solar but I prefer the backup generator in the event something goes down on the solar and wind turbine side of things. Thanks so much for responding. I'm trying to send you an email and I am on gmail but it doesn't go through for some reason. Be Blessed and thank you so much for all that you do to get the word out to us!

    I am developing design considerations , one thing I would avoid is the cooling tubes design.
    I can see this would be a problem with extended use. When I do build my system any such
    cooling tubes will have a header plate to remove to clean out the inside.
