It's interesting to see how the drag (makeup) trends evolved after this, at least on social media: Pearl's 2015 face, Naomi's bottom lashes and Trixie and Kim's white under-eye in 2016, Valentina's brow hairs, the insane highlight and glittery liquid eyeshadows, and those pastel wavy wigs from 2017… Cannot tell you what happened after that, but what a time it was to be alive. Like, does anyone remember Arabia Felix's tutorials?
Also, I found it cute how your blue light matched the eyeshadow look, while the shirt and the other light were pink! Okay, color palette!

I really miss petrilude, they taught us A LOT about makeup
The thumbnail alone had me searching for petrilude’s channel. That unzipped tutorial changed my brain chemistry in 2009
i was interested in starting drag when the manilla video dropped so i tried it out. it killed my drag career then and there.
Petrilude was soooo ahead of his time and so talented
I started drag in october 2019 and had done about a show or two a month until March of 2020 when a little known incident called covid-19 happened. Once the lock downs started with no more shows to do (other than the occasional online ones) I basically trial and errored my way through my makup looks for 2 years because I felt like none of the tutorials out there gave me a look that fit my face so now my makup is pretty much mostly original creations
I love what you've created so far. it's interesting how COVID really shaped queens in so many different ways

I’m a UA-cam queen I use to watch misty maven, misty eyes, and Blanche Babcock NIGHTLY. I loved misty eyes advice and tutorials she was so charming it felt like I had a friend I had never met and we caught up weekly.

Whenever you follow a makeup tutorial they’ll have the randomest stuff you’ll decide to focus on. Like. You don’t need the exact tools! They have this song playing so I have to have this music playing. They have a cat , where can we borrow someone’s cat??😅

Im not a drag queen but as a young goth who had no one to show them make up alot of the things I still do was stuff I learned from watching queens put on makeup. On youtube or even from looking at them on tv.

so i'm not a drag queen but i'm a trans woman who has tried drag makeup a number of times (never ever successfully glued my brows down) and it was Definitely the youtube makeup tutorial era in the early 2010s, the first drag tutorials i distinctly remember watching are willam belli's makeup tutorial and (had to look her up to remember) pixiwoo aka nicola chapman's vid where she does drag, but the first vid i remember that made me wanna try to recreate the look wasn't a tutorial but was that vid of jinkx monsoon putting makeup on in the first part of the drag becomes him series, i thought it was So glamorous i had to try it.

I started watching drag when i moved in with my Grandma and Uncle . I was 13 and so upset with the world and we started watching Season 4 of Drag Race as a family during dinner. It was the only time in my life i felt peace and instantly was hooked. Soon after season 7 aired and i was obsessed with Katya and Violet. Now im 22 and grew up watching and using drag queen tips in my makeup now. I also have a bit of an eccentric style and i like to think its because i grew up on Drag. ❤
i started performing in late 2016 and I was heavily influenced by miss fames iconic glam tutorials, specifically the very first one she ever posted. And yes I DID buy every product she mentioned and tried to achieve her look.. and failed horribly because I was so young and learning in college. Now im a full time entertainer in cleveland OH :D crazy how time flies. I used to paint in dimly lit lighting on the floor with a towel and used the built in mirror of my old apartment with my laptop nearby constantly pausing to get the look.

I did drag once for Halloween in 2012. It was pretty pedestrian (both makeup and outfit) and the clothes I was wearing was from a friend who is much smaller than me so it was rather slutty and revealing LOL
Also had no wig because I had long hair at the time. It was giving first out on early a drag race season design challenge.
I also got painted by a friend in 2016 and the mug was mugging.
I've wanted to dabble in it more, but haven't had the time.
I think its time to bring her back!
Honestly, I'm someone who does things by simply doing it. BUT, if this counts, I guess I'm a youtube queen. When I started in 2021... I only watched a few videos from ru girls that were in the "essential items drag queens should have" vein of tutorials. I never really looked at make-up tutorials unless it's for a very specific step such as gluing down eyebrows or layering spirit gum and hairspray together to make sure your wig stays on.
The question is, did the tutorials help the wigs stay on?
