  • Today we're tracking newly formed Tropical Depression Two in the Atlantic basin, along with two other areas of interest. For today's video, we'll mostly focus on TD2, since one invest isn't likely to impact the US, and the other is very far away for now.
This afternoon the NHC upgraded Invest 95L to Tropical Depression Two, located about 1225 miles from the Windward Islands. Maximum sustained winds are near 35mph, and it's moving quickly westward at 21mph.
The future of TD2 seems to be quickly becoming TS Beryl by tomorrow. It should become a hurricane on Sunday, and is expected to strike the Windward islands as a strong hurricane, around Category Two intensity, on Monday.
From there, it will enter the Caribbean Sea, which may prove more hostile than the environment it's currently in. A range of possibilities are down the line from there, it could be anywhere from Cuba to Central America by July 4th. We can probably rule out an east coast strike (FL-NC), as it appears unlikely to lift out of the Caribbean. But the Gulf coast from Texas to Florida isn't off the hook yet. Too early to call, simply will have to see how things progress.
We'll have regular updates on the FB page, and videos as things develop.
