La proie pour l'ombre comes from a fable of Jean de la Fontaine, where a dog gets surprised and confused by the shadow of his prey, losing the real prey in the process. Losing something material for something immaterial.
Aaaackk! Am totally in love with La proie pour l'ombre. Just tried my sample received, am breathing it in. Upon spraying, intense pines/cedar with cinnamon & smoke. Cinnamon fades quickly. Am breathing in the sweetness & pineyness now. If this is leather & vanilla, ok. Am not a frag expert by any means. Will have to compare with the Cedre and Fille en aiguilles, which is a definite favorite. I know it is different, but there is a similar note am picking up. Am guessing this to be a future purchase, am loving so much, which says a lot because there are at least a half dozen SL's that i truly enjoy. Difficult to choose, want to keep my purchases as different as possible, including from each other.
I'm fine with having perfumes that I struggle to pronounce. Serge Lutens is one of the brands that made me fall in love with perfume and got me into niche. I still think his early work was groundbreaking. Because this house has personal meaning for me I can't help but get personally upset at the reformulations, hiked up prices, and what I think are inferior offerings (compared to older works). "Try harder next time" indeed!
What a shame! I actually haven't tried this one (nor Perilleusement Votre) but the latest Gratte Ciel seem to be going for 'simple duo' style scents. I personally did like L'Innommable, which is honey and caraway, but even that pales in comparison to earlier scents like Arabie and Ambre Sultan. I also wouldn't have imagined any new leather by Serge could stand up to his Cuir Mauresque within the same Gratte Ciel collection.
On me, there is a lot of licorice in this scent, which makes is far more interesting. It’s a bit too sweet, I feel, but I’m keeping it. When I wear it, other people love it. Weird!

Ah, okay, that does make sense. Thank you!

If you say so.

Yes, it’s hard when the things we love change.
Many thanks for watching.

Yes, this range seems to have a very definite agenda.
Thanks for watching.
Your shirt looks like an English rugby shirt, apart from the zany colours, of course! : P
I think it is based on a rugby shirt.
Thanks for watching.
A new Lutens! Again! 🌹
I know! 😃
What type of leather would you say it is? Is it similar to Cuir Mauresque? And how does it compare to les Indemodables vanille Havana? Thank you :-)
I’m afraid I’d have to re-smell it, and I no longer have my sample. Very sorry.
I find similarities in the dry down with Eau noire from Dior, what do you think?
I didn’t think of the Dior, but you may be right.
Thank you for watching.
Very Nice Persolaise!
Thank you 😊
@@Persolaise Your Welcome....

Ah, fascinating.
Many thanks for watching.
Just food for thought: the "shadow" might be in the Jungian sense.
You may well be right.
