I no longer suffer from Reynauds. Three months after I began taking NAC, my finges no longer freeze in winter. Also I no longer get cold and dont have to over dress to avoid getting cold.
I have recently developed white fingers when I put my hands in warm water. They go numb then purple then normal. It happens when I wake in the morning. I have a private insurance and they are prepared to investigate. But require a GP letter . GP refuses and offered anti depressants. I am bewildered. My GP without seeing me had said it's most likely stress related. I do not smoke and am almost 65.
Vasodialator medicine was a bit intense for me. My eyeballs felt like they were being dehydrated from the inside out on this medicine. This was one of several side effects from this medicine. I just picked up a new script today it's a topical nitroglycerin ointment I haven't gotten the courage to try it yet after the last script.
Buerger's disease is caused by swelling and clots in the arteries; it is a lot easier to occlude the small arterioles and arteries in the distal extremities, versus larger arteries. But as the disease progresses, it can affect larger portions of the extremities as well. It _is_ possible for the arteries of the GI tract, heart, kidneys, and brain to be affected, however, that is less common than the effect seen on the extremities.

Yes. Low doses are less likely to produce side effects. 5mg dose is better than 30mg dose. I speak from experience here because I thought I was going to freaking die when I took my 30 mg prescription once daily for several days. I'm still recovering.
Very well done and extremely informative
Glad it was helpful!
I'm an ex-nurse (was RGN in UK) now working as a foot health practitioner. I have found this helpful. Thank you

why does buerger disease usually occur in the extremities? And why does it not affect the large blood vessels and organs?? I hope you can answer 😊

Can placing your hands in warm water, then transferring into warm water help to increase the veins to open and close better?
