Did this install last night. There are quite a few steps but they are all simple and straight forward. Also, if you have the shifter in neutral you can do this entire process from the top for disconnecting the shift linkage. I was able to complete the entire install from inside the car. As far as the rattling concern mentioned, there is none whatsoever. It looks great, performs great. 100% recommend. Combine this with a weighted shift knob and you get nice short throws but still retain good mechanical feel as well.

@h4tm4z How did you manage to remove the shifter linkage from inside the car with there being such small clearance to get hands under, along with retainer clip?
Been using this short shifter for about 3 months now. No issues at all. The install is was pretty ez except that damm retaining ring; however, did install from inside car. It's great and man I do not miss that stock shifter especially since I'm able to compare against my friends stock 22 brz shifter every so often.
I found that the snap ring, and pin are easiest to remove and reinstall from inside the car. simply wiggle the shifter up and out then do the snap ring and pin.
Damn this looks like a massive PITA. Would take bushing kits over this any day. The TRD shifter for my 2000 Celica GT-S was the best short shifter kit I ever installed on any of my cars. This is a fantastic install video though. Will be extremely helpful to people I'm sure.
This install takes about an hour to do, and is actually quite simple. It’s not anywhere close to a massive PITA compared to many other car modifications!
Do you guys do shifter extensions? Do people still rock those lol Idea was to make the shifter closer to the steering wheel and adds leverage to the thows
I just installed mine and it’s rattling really badly. Took everything apart and rechecked to make sure everything was tight and the snap ring was seated correctly. Still rattling terribly. Any ideas?
Put some white lithium grease on the bottom reverse lockout portion before screwing on the top half of the reverse lockout. I think the rattling is due to the metal on metal contact from the surfaces not being perfectly matched or round.
I like that it maintains the OE look and still works well.

That's the most complicated shifter install I've ever seen. Love the video. Very in depth...but makes me shy away from an aftermarket shifter haha

any experience with rattling? I know for the Gen1s no matter what brand of short shifter there was a slight rattle. Looks good though
No rattling! We include 3-orings in our reverse lockout to eliminate any potential rattle!

@@cmitch8667 did that fix the rattle so far? looking to get one for my gt86 but that rattle is making me second guess

Do the instructions apply to the GR86?
Yes the 2022 GR86 is the same as the 2022 BRZ!
