Hi everyone! Thanks for the great video, Z. Just chiming in to lend some insight on the Touring's design and the volume affiliated. Most may assume the Touring Edition will be very quite given it has dual resonators in the rear. The resonators in the rear are our patented 180 Technology®configurations that feature a (quite literal) straight-through design with zero packing material like a traditional reso/muffler. Their primary purpose is to isolate frequencies responsible for producing drone and destroy them, all without interrupting the flow of the exhaust. Due to the lack of packing material, the exhaust note will not change or degrade over time -- this often happens with exhausts that use typical packed mufflers as their material breaks down over time and thus influencing the sound. The Track Edition will sound nearly identical as the Track Edition outside of the car -- the primary difference occurs at highways/cruising speeds. Finally, the Touring Edition and 180 Tech within it are very much controlled by the throttle, thus allowing you to creep if needed. Cold start, as with most cars, can be rowdy -- but as ya noted, it calms down after the cats are warm. Anyone watching that has questions, reach out to us on IG, or direct via performance@awe-tuning.com. Cheers 🤘
I was going to comment to zygrene that I'm curious how the sound might change after a few miles of "break-in". Sounds like nothing will change over time, by design! I have to admit I was definitely shocked by how loud the touring was especially given the existence of the track edition. But it's truly amazing how much boxer rumble you get just from installing this catback, with no header mods needed! Any chance there are db measurements available inside the cabin?

I think I just found my exhaust. Sounds sick. Those AWE pops and bangs are how this car should have sounded from the factory. Love that it doesn't drone yet gets aggressive when ya want it. Pay day purchase.
Honestly it’s exactly what IM looking for in an exhaust the crackles are the icing on the cake. The fact that once its warmed up it tones down but then when you step on it. It comes it life I NEED IT

Thanks to both Zygrene and AWE for providing the video. To me, it sounds just right. I'd love to know if the filming was done with the active sound control on.
This is the video that turned me Into a subscriber because this is the second time you’ve made a video that literally was in my mind!!!! First was that Cayman vs BRZ.
I love the way it sounds but I'm surprised how loud it is for just being the touring version. I plan on getting an aftermarket uel header and this exhaust will probably be too obnoxiously loud for me.
It crackles in my hks exhaust as well. I think in low rpm, brz/gr86 runs a bit rich, so some of the unburnt fuel got dumped out, then it produced the crackle sound.
I recently fitted mine. I really like how you get the downshift noise in an exhaust that is quiet when just plodding around. you gone downshift with a smaller blip at lower RPM and it doesnt pop. well, at least you can on an EU spec car with a GPF. I don't like the loud cold start noise, but that's a mapping issue. not much you can do about that with a stock tune if you want an exhaust with any volume.
I have a 2020 WRX Premium AWE Touring Catback and it sounds incredible. At first, I thought you had the "Track" I don't have no where the amount of pops and or crackles as in the video with the BRZ. That's why I purchased it. It has no drone and deeper sound. The inside sounds awesome and not over bearing. It does come with a resonator. Maybe that's why it doesn't have that issue? Lastly, AWE is great company, and would buy from them again...got me thing about giving it to my son and get a 2023 WRX...but, I hate that rear end. Yes, saw it in person.
That exhaust sounds pretty nice, but California's strict emissions laws/regulations are way too extra. It's a bit hard to enjoy your car here without risking getting state reffed.
I'm in the same boat, but according to AWE testing in their marketing video, at 2500 rpm, the db rating is ~92. The requirement is to be under 95db at 2500 rpms while being tested. My only concern would be at cold start during valve overlap, but I'm sure that if you're getting a noise complaint at cold start, by the time the cop is testing, the idle will have lowered to a passable rating. I owned a VB WRX with the turbo'd version of the FA24 and the cold start idle lasted for nearly 3 minutes! In my GR86, the cold start idle only lasts 20-30 seconds. I'm sure we'll be okay to be honest. I wouldn't go any louder though or modify the exhaust in any further ways that might increase noise.
Not sure if I missed it in the vid, but do you have the track version too? If not, I have the track conversion kit. I got it free because i ordered the touring version and an AWE rep asked me to do comparison vid. But i ended up cancelling my order. Instead of messing with returning it (don't have the box anymore), would you want it, so you can try it out? I'm in the Bay Area, East Bay.
Any recommendations besides AWE that has the Subbie rumble, dual tip, low to moderate noise levels ,and has no drone ? I love the AWE exhaust sound but sometimes I don’t want to draw attention with a loud exhaust.
Why are you downshifting and not getting back on the gas during street driving? From your video is sounded like it only popped like that when you didn’t hit the gas after.
I have my eye on this exhaust, but living in California I am hesitant on buying it because of the noise laws. I see you’re also in Cali so I would like to know if you’ve had much unwanted attention by police because of it? Anyone else who lives in Cali and has this exhaust, I would love to hear your experience as well.
