it’s very rare to find bands that write and perform their own songs. Everything has largely been decoupled - songwriters write songs, producers produce / make the song, singers sing the songs, session musicians play the songs etc. Everything is in a silo.

I didn't hear them once mention how this new technology gives soo much more opportunity to the independent artist. The music INDUSTRY has turned it's back on artists creating original music decades ago. So as an independent artist writing my own music I have no sympathy for these people.

How nauseating hearing rich business men feign concern for poor artists. Do they think we were born yesterday?

what the middle guy doesn't get, nor does anyone else, is that the streaming services are all forced to charge the same price 'TEN BUCKS A MONTH as he says thereby avoiding competition. That violates anti trust laws. Apple and Rhapsody is 410 bucks a month too. AT the beginning EVERY SONG ON THE ITUNES MUSIC STORE is 99 cents; PRICE FIXING IS ILLEGAL. Ww need to force the labels ( who force the streaming sites) to compete in the market place like EVERY OTHER AMERICAN/WESTERN INDUSTRY. The music is not on an economic island. They have to play by the sae rules as every other business and COMPETE OR FACE A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT based on their crime.

2 years later, still no IPO on Uber and Travis may not even be CEO anymore. Also Taylor's music is on all streaming platforms.

But spotify pays musicians...would you rather earn nothing and everyone get your music for free? If you try to fight technology you will become irrelevant and lose
