  • A day that started a touch slow exploded into a huge session in the last 30 minutes with heaps of brown trout caught and released. The last 10 minutes are action packed, so please watch until the end.

Nice to see so many fish! I fished mainly above that bridge in December and caught a few fish. Saw a Platypus off the bridge at dusk and Tiger snakes which made my day. I used a dry/dropper rig from the side of the river as I have mobility problems and the river was so slippery. I met a Scottish angler and some friendly Tassi folk and really enjoyed my three-week holiday, including my son's wedding in the highlands. What sort of Perdigon do you use? I have been tying a few for the World Flyfishing Champs in Slovakia so any variation I might get would be helpful. Regards from NZ.

Hi John. Apologies for the late response, but my earlier response didn't publish for some reason. Thanks for watching my very amateur production! I also fished the stretch above the bridge this particular day last week, and also happened upon a tiger snake- my first of the season. I am more than happy to encounter the many platypus on the Tyenna, but the snakes I would rather not cross paths with.
Sorry to hear of your mobility issues, but at least you get to exercise your passion from the bank. Dry dropper is such an effective rig- I was using the perdigon under my dry. Please PM me for details on the perdigon. Cheers, Guy
