Sharon Michelle Webster when using a cable needle the instructions (when read) "slip sts to cable needle and hold in back" . The video demos holding slipped knit sts n front. Which? Does it matter?
Memmmmmmoryyyyy I was new, and doing a spider. The instructions boasted that it had almost every stitch invented in it (fitting that it was a spider!!). I couldn’t for the life of me understand this stitch. I went into a needlery, and asked the old woman working behind the cash box... she was knitting something and simply showed me right away. Once I thought I had it, she undid it and continued with her formal pattern. I felt like I was in the company of a goddess......HOW’D SHE DO THAT??!?! Well, that was close to 20 years ago, and lo, I still get stuck on it. ‘Which way do I wind while I’m back there?’ allllllways gets me. Thankfully, it doesn’t come up very often, but I feel like a god when I do (accidentally) get it right! Sheash! Sure makes good argument for WEAVING!
Just want to be sure. When you first read out what you'd do if doing on a cable you said "hold at back of work" then when you stitched it you held at front of work. Do I need to hold at the front for the left twist? I hope someone will respond with an answer please. And thanks in advance
Hi Hannah - I definitely meant to say "front of work" rather than "back of work" sorry! Thanks for picking up on it. The visual demonstration afterwards is all correct!
LIFE SAVER!!!! I read the instructions for a palm frond motif, did a swatch and could not get my head around this st OK the instructions did not say back loop just to work it from behind!
The first video that showed me how to do a left twist purl wise. Thank you so much, really appreciated!
My pleasure Sophie, I'm so glad the video was helpful! ♥️
Another great video, clear & easy to follow - thank you, because of you I can now finally cable without a cable needle 😊

Thanks for getting back to me. Your videos are a big help, stops me having to ask my mom every 5 mins how to do something
