Love this video! I bought the book right after it came out and I have to say, it is my favorite TTMIK book. My reason is that there are lots of books on grammar and vocabulary (and I love TTMIK's books on these topics too), but not so many on pronunciation. Thanks to K-drama OSTs, now I know these differences and the correct pronunciation. After finished watching a Kdrama l listen to the OSTs with hangeul lyrics. So I can understand these three and some other difficult pronunciations. Listening is the toughest part for me, as a Korean language learner.
In my dialect of English we have a lot of unvoiced consonants, which has really helped me! I struggle with some of the vowels though. Thank you for this!

The abrupt stop on the final consonant applies to most words in English, too.
I use the google translate app to practice my pronunciation. If the AI can understand me, it's generally a good bet a human could. But I have so much trouble with that double ㄹ sound. The app often only understands one. I don't understand how to do it so it is intelligible. I get the concept but not the practice. Can you guys make some videos getting more into that difficult phonology? (Or trying to do speech to text in Korean and pointing out where the AI struggles with native speakers as well?)

Some ending consonants oftentimes get cut off or shortened at the ends of words in English as well, depending on the word and other words around it. For example,with plastic bottle I barely pronounce the k sound. If it's at the end of a sentence or followed by a vowel, like plastic egg, it gets pronounced more and possibly even gets shifted to the beginning of the next word, like plasti kegg.
At least with the way I speak as a Milwaukeean (sp?).
Yeah and to use your example, as an English person we have a tendency of not saying bottle but more bo'le, like we skip the t sound in bottle, some not all have a tendency of skipping the hard t sound. So we don't say boTTle of waTer, we say like ba-all of war-uh y'know what I mean?

감사합니다's standard pronunciation is [감사함니다] but when speaking fast, people often makes the sounds that you mentioned : )
Just to clarify the end ㄱ is not pronounced? Is this what you mean when you say you cut it short?
I want to learn the Korean alphabet but I’m finding it hard to do the pronunciation bc I’m a few years into learning Japanese so I accidentally say the Japanese pronunciation instead of the Korean so it’s kinda annoying

My pronounction is not a problem for me but listening is. I'm havng a real hard time with that. How if I watch Kdrama and Kpop will improve my listening skills and why?? They speak very fast at times I need help with this.

Its not that, i just suggest u try listening to the words their saying a little harder, ive been doing that for a while and i can listening and understand the song better than i did before.
There's an English word I'm finding out that is pronounced incorrectly...by Koreans... Orange... They pronounce the "e" at the end of the word .. they do not understand that the "e" is silent. It sounds like they are saying Orangey. Thanks for your fabulous video on Korean pronunciation.... This is where I have the most difficult time with the language.... Please load up more videos on this subject.
that’s probably because in korean it’s pronounced like that. orange as in the fruit is 오렌지/olenji. it’s a 3 syllable word in korean pronounced o-len-ji. romanization is off a bit for the first 2 syllables, but you should be able to get the point. the last syllable 지/ji is pronounced in korean.
How do I pronounce 공룡?
I can't hear the difference between 2 "K" sounds at all. For me they sound the same :(
But then where's the difference between the k-sound of 기억/가족 and 부엌? Is it the same sound and they only differ in writing?
This also confuses me with all the 받침s (sry there 😂) which have a t-sound. The difference between ㄷ, ㅌ, ㅆ, ㅅ, ㅊ, ㅈ, etc. Also 없다 for exmple.
ㅋ as a 받침(batchim) is always pronounced as ㄱ!

Okay but like...If it's an English word to begin with, is it really wrong to pronounce it with English pronunciation? lol. Somethings like 컴퓨터 are just incredibly unnatural for an English speaker and to me, it genuinely feels like I'm trying to mimic an Asian who can't speak English properly. It almost feels like I'm being insulting by pronouncing the word that way. I'm sure Korean's don't see it that way if you're using the word in a full Korean sentence though, but as an American...it feels kind of weird.
Also, what REALLY throws me off is ㅈ, so many times I see a word that starts with this letter and very often it sounds like Korean's are pronouncing the word as if it starts with ㅊ instead. I've come to the conclusion this is just something that happens due to the speed at which native speakers speak though.
Lastly, is there any advice for properly pronouncing the double ㄹ ? In my head the 받침 sounds like an L and the first consonent sounds like an R...but when you pronounced it was one ㄹ it sounds almost identical to the double ㄹ pronunciation and I'm having trouble picking out the difference.

Guacamole is NOT an English word. It comes from Mexico.
