Akuma/Gouki on X-Men COTA had two different codes to select him, either 1p side or 2p side, and he also had Messatsu Gou Shoryu. Has an awkward input tho, its double Dragon Punch. Not to be confused with Double fireball motion for Messatsu gou Hadou. That "parry" was strike counter special. Solid glass cannon character.
During my high school days, there were rumors that ANITA was the daughter of Akuma. Dunno who's the mother but yeah, I just found out this year that it's not true. I can't believe I've been fooled for so many years. Me and my friends.

Anyway, again, like I said, I know now that that rumor is false.

That's why I love it when I found out about emulators back in early 2000s, WinKawaks was the first emulator experience and then I bought it to my friends at our computer lab in college and they went nuts about it. Back in the day it would cost you some money to really play around arcade centers specially in the hay day of fighting games. So when there aren't any students around the computer lab you will hear keyboard clicks as we play our favorite Capcom FG. It was after college I discovered about the game cheats to play as the boss characters on the emulator and it really got me for hours playing boss characters which is not possible on most FG back in the day. Gamefaqs back then would formulate fake button combinations to play the boss characters and most of them never really work because it wasn't possible without the cheats. Man I'm definitely buying all things Capcom collection as soon as I got my PS5 Pro, I do have PS4 pro but nah I still can wait. Congrats to all of us FG fans for winning all of this FGC collections.

The tilted ranking screen in MvC2 feels like an intentional design choice but still quite strange

Adult Anita was supposed to have been in Vampire Saviour (VS takes place 16 years after Vampire Hunter), but Capcom scrapped it.
Her adult form shows up in Darkstalkers Collection in Dee's ending (Dee was also a scrapped character from VS, later made for aforementioned Collection).
They were planning to, but the design they had for older Anita was described as “Not very tasteful”

What I _do_ know is that _Vampire Saviour_ maxed out the CPS2 board, which is why the arcade version couldn't hold all the characters. It's why the Saturn version of VS is the "true" version of the game, and I'm still sad it's stixk on that system
I watched Justin's reaction to the reveal over and over just to share the joy. So jazzed to see this coming out, despite the fact it's a bunch of old games I can play on Fightcade.

definitely counting down the days! super excited to play these. and arcade-perfect Punisher is welcome bonus, for sure.
Justin, if you read this, let me know if they fixed it or not: in MVC2, pick Magneto or Iceman, versus Colossus, Do the Super Armor Hyper Combo of Colossus, and then grab him with Magneto or Iceman (The HP), immediately after that, hit Colossus with HP, HK or E-M Disrupter (if you use Magneto) or Ice Beam (if you use Iceman), if isn't fixed, MVC2 will crash.
I actually 1 coined punisher when i was a kid. They use to have the cab at a walmart my parents would always go to
It's insane how influential these games were to gaming.
These games started the trend of characters from way different IPs working together. The start of what pretty much is how we see guest characters today.

X-Men vs. Street Fighter released in 1996 but the first fighting game crossover was The King of Fighters '94.
But we could say these games were the first to crossover IPs from different companies, since KoF is a crossover from different SNK franchises.

3:55 I mean, you've not noticed it before? That's like the first thing I realized at the first trailer. I'm gonna say it is not a bug and that's how the aracade version was, seeing as that's what we're having here and not the Dreamcast port.

In the arcades, MvC1 pretty often went above CPS2's sprite limits. Especially with certain duo team attacks. Hence the flicker issues. Dreamcast didn't do that, but it DID drop to 30fps temporarily, and PS1 dipped further down than that.
Super hyped! I've never played MvC and I'm excited to give these classics a try!

There is not CROS FEVER vs MODE , like in the DREAMCAST ,alt MVC 1? This means 4 Players simultáneous vs mode , each one controlling 1 chraracter.

Kind of a bummer that xmvsf is that version instead of the fun, busted one but it is what it is. Also, have you tried holding the assist button of the character you want as point and pressing the reset button in training? That works in marvel 3 iirc

I can't wait till modders figure out how to change rom version in X-Men vs SF. They should have just put various revisions in and let you pick the alternate roms if you want.
That limits player base, making a small pool, even smaller.

@@Dumah36 I haven't played these games since 2004 or '05 when my Dreamcast broke (I know there are other editions and online options) so I can wait 2 months for the physical release. It is all perspective.

Love your reaction to how busted Anita is, yeah... she's "uber" tier in Marvel Super Heroes (funny how the collection has the option to ban Anita in the easy select for secret characters... to mimic the non-JPN versions of the game, but also to help tourneys organizers to avoid having her playable without the proper code), nice that MVC has the Ps1 treatment of picking the secret characters once you fulfill the conditions like beating the game with Megaman for Roll (just without having to do that... I don't think you can pick Magnetic Shockwave Mega Man, that must be a ps1 exclusive like the EX Edition balances), the assists is just for training mode, would have been nice to have the option to pick them in the same manner as the ps1 version outside training, well, we can't have everything, but still nice, easy secret character pick in MSHVSF is the same way as ps1 version of holding start on specific characters and then press an attack button to pick the character.
In the end... I know I'll get the collection 4 times (minimum if I end up getting console digital of course, as if possible I'll get them physical, and at worst case scenario I double dip for the 3 console versions... assuming Xbox gets a physical release of course in case I get digital first) sooner or later.
Edit: Geez... the audio is just... not good, hopefully they fix that in an update (very noticeable in the CPS-2 games... especially X-Men vs Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter).
Edit: The Punisher is only in custom lobby for online.
Glad I'm not the only onw who noticed the audio issue in the games like Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and before, since those use almost the same tunes

I'm curious about if Norimaro is only playable on the Japanese version or if they'll enable him in the US version as well, I'm sure Justin Wong's playing a pre-release version, so this collection might be subject to change in the future.

Man I told my friend Dr. doom in marvel super heroes was tame. And then I hit him with photon array once on random mix and he tried to convince me Anita and doom are the same tiger. Then I showed him the infinite and he instantly changed his mind.
Yeah people do 1 credit clear Punisher. Its actually considered easier than some other games like Final Fight
Disappointed they didnt allow us to select the early roms with infinites (in Xvsf), it would have been an instant buy from me. But Im not interested in the patched crippled rom sets they have with limited fun appeal for me.
Interesting, I'm used to Nash being named Charlie in the MvC2.

Justin, If the marvel vs street fighter is the same version as sega saturn, cyclops infinite is done differently. Rather then doing fierce, fierce at the end then doing the jab, short, mp, mk, fierce. Try doing the full set including roundhouse then quick mk, fierce, roundhouse I’ll freeze the opponent so you can reset the combo.
I don't know if it is me, but it feels like the music is out of sync at 8:20 and 8:40, I can hear the notes from Dan's and Shuma-Gorath's themes being out of sync
Edit: I think the games are bugged with the soundtrack

1 thing needs to be fixed (at least in the Switch version, I haven't tried the others)
The games demonstrate juddering when playing. It is especially noticeable when there are long straight scrolls of the camera from a vertical or horizontal sides ( ie: Xmen vs SF letters intro as well as when fast forwarding during in mid round wins). Playing Switch version.
In a perfect world, this game is cross platform. Im glad we are even getting it but one can dream right?

I really hope people are playing some of the other games in the collection other than MVC2 online. I have a lot of love for every single one of these games. Especially Cota and Marvel Super Heroes.
