Pine loop track ends up back at the pine forest you drove through on the way in. Not that long. Can do it in about 20mins on a bike. Also the track up too eungella would be best cleared by a dozer. Heaps of trees across everywhere is the biggest issue.
Cheers mate. We actually had a crew together to actually go thru that track up to Eungella yesterday. The rains over the last few days forced us to postpone. Want to do Pine Loop still and the track up will be next time we are free on a weekend with good weather. A couple of chainsaws and some winching and we'll be right. Also had the historical society send me some info on the forest road and it's history. So doing a little bit of research for the video I'll finally get to making about it.
You will need a good crew. Tried to ride it a year ago. Had to walk out due to losing daylight. Had to walk in with a chainsaw to cut a track out. Pine loop track would be ideal after another day of sun. Was out there today. But is washed out more since I rode it last.
@@jayrich7813 yeah... we were planning on staying out there a night or two. If you're keen to jump on mate. Hit us up. No idea when we'll do it. But sometime soon. As for pine loop. Well. Probably do it once it's propper dry. If it's more washed out it could be very interesting and a great challenge for the ol luxy. But nothing a bit of track building can sort out.
Yeah no worries. If I'm free and not working. Should be able to lend a hand. But yeah will be a test for the lux that's for sure. My bt is missing a few bits to take on that track.
the first time I went up there would have been 20 years ago, it was just a Sunday drive on a dirt road, then last time it was about 8 years ago, after a few cyclones, and it was VFO, but still busy on a Sunday. I would say that the powers that be just don't wont to maintain it, so they let it go
G'day Bill, yeah I've heard it used to be a great little drive. Now it's a bit of an adventure. I still want to drive the entire road. I've been told recently of a couple of spots where it's washed the road away now. I'd like to go with a few vehicles and repair or cut a track around where it's washed away. One spot I have seen myself and just needs about 20 mins with a couple of shovels. No idea about the other one though. Great spots along the way to camp too. I've also been told of a road from Cathu forest to the Eungella Dam. But no one has been on it for years and it's apparently heavily overgrown. Bit would love to also drive it.
@@TimRumble yeah, I used to (5 years ago) work with a young bloke who with he father went riding a few times from Cathu through to Eungella, again, an old dray trail
Son and i done the captains crossing to denham range track couple years ago, ended up in the dark, top track, luckly the gate at other end wasn't locked, don't think would have mattered if it was we weren't turning back.that was before couple young blokes ended up stuck for the night and cost emergecy services a lot of money to find them so then they said"no more, access denied", bloody shame.
Not sure mate. We completed the track to Eungella earlier in the year. Got a bit of feedback from a few lads saying it's private property. I looked into it and discovered that 6 or 7kms of track was indeed leased land. I've tried to talk to people to get more info and permissions but to no avail. So I havn't been back. Captains Crossing itself is still available for camping though. As far as I'm aware anyway.
Chuck a left on the bend as you come into Pinnacle. Follow that road until it veer left. Go thru between the cane paddocks there is a little sign says Captains Crossing.
G'day drew. Did you really? I've been trying to find what happened. But yeah we just got told what we did from SES on the ground. Lokka is pretty good mate. Will do a video on the next couple of weeks discussing my thoughts etc. Hows your cape trip looking?
