So important to recognize that no amount of beautiful diapers will fill a void inside, thanks for being vulnerable and honestly sharing your experiences.

This video is like: "Things I wish I knew before cloth diapering. Not, like, about cloth diapers. Just what I wish I'd known earlier."
And I love it! Thank you for being such an authentic voice on this platform and a valuable asset to this community.

Yes Love! My biggest take away from this was MINDSET! I’ve accomplished a lot these past couple months with my own mental health, my physical health and more. I’m a first time mommy here at 30. Baby boy been in cloth successfully these past 15 months thanks to the knowledge you have shared. But yes ladies and gents let’s get our MINDSET right and we will all benefit 🥰

I love that 💕 mindset can really change every single aspect of your life in varying degrees. Mindset is incredibly powerful 🔥 mental health has been such a huge theme for me since 2017 because I’ve seen some dark depths but also amazing heights. It takes work to move through mindset but it’s worth it. It’s where growth happens 🌱🦋✨

The present is called the present for a reason. This in between stage, between past and future, the process of finding yourself, of remembering who you truly are it's a Gift. The gift of growth, Spiritual Physical and Mental Growth...It's also what good mothers enjoy about raising there children, watching and helping with the process of there growth. We as parents help shape who they are becoming but the minute they are in our belly they start to shape who we are becoming and even for different children and at different stages in our lives the process is just so uniquely beautiful...

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  3 роки тому

      Wow! So beautifully said 💕✨
Time won’t wait for us. The is illusion is that we believe we have time. Time is a precious gift that is best spent while being present.
One of the best things we can do for our children is work on ourselves and grow. It changes the way we raise them and show up to them. Such a profound lesson I’ve learned along the way 💕

I’m really happy I found your channel a couple of days ago. I’m a new stay at home dad and I’ve found cloth diapering to be very empowering as I validate my new role, which can get really lonely because most communities are for women/moms (I don’t mind joining those communities but there can be obstacles beyond my control to being accepted or feeling like I can belong). Being the one who takes care of the baby and the house is also very liberating for me as a guy, especially because all my life I’ve tried to break beyond gender expectations. I’ve binged many of your videos and many of your insights about life in general remind me of stuff I’ve gone through, including growth and change. I hope to watch for a long time to come!

Thank you for your beautiful sincere words. I really feel you, motherhood can be so hard and lonely and such a learning process, I would say nowadays is harder than ever.
I see a lot of need for BUYING ALL THE NAPPIES in this community and for me I know that if I allowed myself to get there with my addictive personality is not going to be healthy. Some can do it for fun but I know myself and I need to see diapers as something that full-fills a need: hold pee and poo.

Your video was exactly what I was expecting for your video. I feel your pain, girl. I went through a divorce in 2013 and that shit changes you, or maybe you changed and grew and that's why your marriage didn't work out long term. Whatever it is, you'll get through it and be a better you at the end. 💖 You're totally right though, buying diapers or whatever will not fill the void.

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  3 роки тому +2

I feel like marriage in itself changed me. I used to see marriage through this air of illusion... it’s just a piece of paper to celebrate deep love and a deep binding contract.
Back then I thought it’d make love more meaningful which is backwards. I learned a lot about myself through the reflection of marriage. No regrets 💖
Sometimes we outgrow people when we outgrow versions of ourself. Luckily we are still able to maintain peace and a friendship despite the divorce... and that’s on growth! LOL I’m thankful for the way it all unfolded

Im trying so hard to invest in quality absorbancy from the get go but i have so much that isn't working because my little one is still so little, especially trim between the legs (3 weeks, 9 lbs, already in OS pockets) that things like flats are just too bulky and i cant even get the diaper on her, and the ones i can get on her with more bulk i have to use different snaps than usual to make the diaper a lot bigger. Like double the size she is with our regular inserts. no idea if thats a normal thing to have to do 😂
too many diapers- I feel like im buying too many diapers just in trial and error, not even addicted to buying... yet 😂

A few things I wish I knew before cloth diapering. It’s not all or nothing!
It’s never to late to start, this one was so powerful for me. I thought at a year old was just a waste of money and would be easier to continue with disposable diapers than to learn something new. Hint: I was so wrong!
Cloth diapering would be to hard or complicated. Well, here I am almost nine months after a preloved set from Facebook. That set is now gone and all diapers are the brands I enjoy.
Flats are scary and to much work....😂😂😂😂 if I could just go back nine months ago and slap myself I would.... Thanks to you I’m a flats girl. And omg.... they are so easy!! You get a little better each time, and when all else fails fold that shit into rectangle and go.😂

Mistakes are ok. Things don’t have to be perfect. Sometimes good enough IS good enough. Don’t research until I die; at some point, you gotta get out of the chair and take the first step! Give people the benefit of the doubt. Not everyone is out to get you. Friends don’t have to think or look like you.Give their perspective a shot. What I would tell my past self about cloth diapering:
Don't do so much research. You won't even bother reading all those notes you took on Google.
Try different diapers. Don't dismiss pockets because you'll want to try them later.
Your preferences will change over time. You'll really like prefolds, but then you'll fall in love with fitteds and realize those aren't perfect either.
Strip diapers on a regular basis, like monthly. Not once in a pink. Ammonia builds up.
    Don't ever soak diapers.
Buy a heavy duty drying rack. Those cheap Maytags will break overtime.
There will always be a sale. Wait for one.
It's not rocket science using high efficiency machines. You can totally wash diapers at your sister's house.
You should have started elimination communication at birth. Why didn't you look into it when you first heard of it? You could have been all geared up, no blowouts, no spraying nasty first solids.
By the way, you think it's the worst thing that can happen to you, maybe you'll give up cloth diapering, but solid waste will develop into ploppable poo sometime in the future and spraying them will get better. It still won't be your most favorite thing about cloth diapers. Another reason why you should have given elimination communication a try.
Your portable washer was a great investment for stripping diapers.
Don't be so disorganized. Think of a system to store diapers out of use. Be strategic about the order for the ones you currently use.
Get good cloth wipes (no polyester blends). Give them a try with your homemade wipe solution. Ends fray, but that's not a huge deal.
You should have bought more wool covers from Organic Caboose because they will go out of business.
It would have been good to practice folding flats and making diy stretchies when you were pregnant. Your toddler will try practicing with you. Your son will adorably put his diapers one at a time into the dryer when he is more than 12 months old. He gets easily distracted, though, so don't expect much help.

Mom groups on Facebook are way to judgmental.
We are all different what work for Sally down the road is not going to work for you! I agree with you not showing your wash routine. I wouldn't as well.
So many are so closed up and set in their own way and they think its the right way for everyone. I had to learn the hard way while babysitting. I CAN'T STAND AIOs I couldn't get them clean at all i washed them 6x one day and followed a Facebook groups steps. The advice from that group was so rude they said some stuff I refused to repeat but I actually stripped the pul off of them from washing them the way they told me in just 5 weeks!! I switched to prefolds and flats with pockets and covers and left that group and never looked back!!

I always always love your videos! I learned a lot not just on cloth diapers but also as a person and as a mom. Thats also I felt. I bought a lot of diapers because of sadness and i felt happy because of them, but it only lasted for a few months. The emptiness is still there. It also became one of the factors of why I felt stressed and sometimes I'm having anxiety attacks. I mean, because I bought a lot of diapers my financial state is not that good anymore and thats when the anxiety attacks me. I also focus on my mental health and I promise that I will not be that hard on myself. Another thing. It's okay to use disposables if you feel tired. There's nothing wrong with that. Always always focus on your mental health. Always put your self first! ❤️

    I would tell myself...
You’re trying so terribly hard. Stop.
Take some time to sit quietly. It’s ok if it hurts- it won’t last forever if you just let it wash through you, even though it feels like a tidal wave. Tears will help the pain soften to be not so sharp, just a little sore before it fades. What happened is over.
What is beautiful and here now? What’s here that you love?
Let your gratitude build until it bursts out of you, because you do impossible things when you’re filled with passion.
Just a moment alone will do... let it in. God has been here all along, and blessings and grace already surround you. Let them in. Let it be easy.

Can you use just a hemp/bamboo insert or do you need to use them with microfiber (something that absorbs quickly). My baby isn’t a super heavy wetter and microfiber is enough when we are at home, but I’d rather use a natural fiber. Most things I’ve read say to use both, but that leads to a pretty big diaper and seems like more than we need/defeats the purpose of using a natural fiber. Help!
