Idea: Paint a scenery on the tank, it will blend in better... and place gravel down around it so mud doesn't splash up on it

Paint the propane tank to make it more aesthetically pleasing to you, even if it means just painting it a green or brown.

You should probably put your feeder and water containers under cover where they’re not exposed to the weather. When I kept chickens, I made it a rule of thumb to disinfect and sanitise the waterers, especially the drinking cups and nipples to eliminate the presence of green mould. I also de-wormed them regularly, and provided a source of grit for their diet. Chickens like to sit high, so if you have any fallen trees, perhaps you could fashion some logs of various heights for them to jump up onto? Could you throw down a thick layer of mulch around the propane tank? This would cut down on soil splash back when it rains.

Becky you can buy a pre-made trellis and put it in front of the propane tank. Plant something beautiful like roses that you can see from your bedroom

The veggie boys have a similar wooden box frame in their blueberry patch, but only seem to cover it with netting when the berries appear. It keeps the critters out. You may have some appreciative birds and deer because your berry plants look loaded!

May want to put bricks under propane tank. Will not help the green from trees, would help with rain splashing up. Plants in front of tank, not sure if can see from your house or not. Some people paint there tank to match surrounding, but have to own the tank. I found it easier just to clean 2-3 times a year, was simpler then painting. Nice to have fencing around it or in front of so propane can still be filled by propane truck. Looks great. Thanks for tour

I know that future plans include some sort of a kitchen remodel. Taking care of (or parts of) infrastructure things like some of the HVAC stuff ahead of time will help soften the cost, construction and upheaval time, effort, and all the rest when you do move towards the actual remodel. On the other hand .... replacing the heater, a/c, and ducting has probably delayed the kitchen remodel.

A number of the old world (Europe et al) herbs we consider to simply be flavorful spices actually have some medicinal properties. I am far from being any type of an herbalist but what I do remember that it is a good thing to add oregano to foods as a flavorful spice. Also, that a little bit of oregano is good for animals too. For most of us, there isnt enough oregano to feed the animals too. You might want to check on line first but also toss some of your weed wacking and mowing clippings over the fence to the chickens since you have enough to do so.

Hi, Becky! Can you tell me what kind of wire basket shelving units you use to store your canning jars with?

I do not have wires shelves for storing my canning jars. They are plywood and I would not recommend them because they do not hold a good amount of weight like the wire ones.

I have to say I often wonder how she is able to do all of this with a toddler around. I feel that a huge part of homesteading/gardening at this scale is being missed by not addressing how all this is accomplished while being a mom.

You know we have a guy at the famous Peabody Hotel here in Memphis who is an expert duck trainer. Maybe he could help you with your chickens. Just kidding. You are wonderful with them. 😊. I love you with your girls. They are so pretty.

The weed your girls aren’t eating is narrow leaf plantain. Some use medicinally and say it’s edible. 😁

So excited to see the girls. I don't know why your chickens excite me so much, but they are just the cutest little things ever.
