Blueberry bushes, apple trees, and roses hold a special place in my heart. My grandpa was a hobby farmer and everyday he picked a rose for my grandma until she died. He also planted an apple tree for my brother and an apple tree for me when we were born. They were yard snacks. He also believed that it wasn’t Christmas unless he had colored lights, my grandma didn’t agree, he would cover our apple trees in colored Christmas lights every year. He has moved 4 times in my life and dug up and took our apple trees with him every time. My mom, his daughter, planted an apple tree for my nephew at her house. The blueberries were another yard snack. We had a blueberry bucket that my brother and I would take to the garden and it never got more than a handful of berries. We ate the rest right off the bushes. Now when he picks my nephew up from school they pick blueberries and his new wife makes blueberry muffins with my nephew with the berries he picked. I think my grandpa had a garden just for my brother and I to benefit from. If we mentioned liking something he would grow it.

I was just going to write that when I saw your post, and because of the chicken manure the plantain was beautiful. I myself harvested some today to make plantain salve for our home.
You should probably put your feeder and water containers under cover where they’re not exposed to the weather. When I kept chickens, I made it a rule of thumb to disinfect and sanitise the waterers, especially the drinking cups and nipples to eliminate the presence of green mould. I also de-wormed them regularly, and provided a source of grit for their diet. Chickens like to sit high, so if you have any fallen trees, perhaps you could fashion some logs of various heights for them to jump up onto? Could you throw down a thick layer of mulch around the propane tank? This would cut down on soil splash back when it rains.
I’m so jealous of your cilantro harvest! I had a huge pot full of it on my deck…..a groundhog got up there, even though I blocked the steps and ate it down to the soil! I’m leaving town July 10th and having no one to water it for me, I have to wait until I get back in late July. I’m so sad…..I had a great start to having enough to use throughout the summer and fall…..I’ll replant when I get back. You’re so lucky to have Josh! He’s a miracle worker! I just want to know where you get your energy! I never had it at your age and heaven knows at almost 75 I don’t have it now! You really amaze me! I love seeing all you accomplish in one day…….I’d be thrilled to get so much done in 3-4 days! You’re awesome and Josh is a KEEPER!!! ❤❤❤
Always nice to get things cleaned up! Just a warning putting your galvanized chicken feeder on concrete blocks will cause a reaction between the galvanizing and the concrete causing your feeder to rust out prematurely best to set it on wood blocks!! I learned this the hard way and rusted out two good feeders.
I bet someone has already suggested this because your viewers are a font of great ideas! If you get some white garden rock or river rocks and spread it around the propane tank, esp where it's just dirt, you will get much less splashback all over the tank. LOVE everything you and Josh have done to your home. Absolutely gorgeous!!😊😊😊❤❤❤
Watching you and Josh tackle projects on the property is AWESOME! I love the fact that Josh is working from home now and seeing this channel grow in leaps and bounds! YAY TO YOU AND JOSH!
@@Raisin9502 I too am in Florida - in a city on the I-4 corridor which makes it even hotter. In 2019 my a/c quit. Due to the high replacement cost we lived without it for 18 months. Talk about hot 🔥. I'm in my 60's and hope I never have to live without a/c in Florida again!!
Your home renovation videos are the most motivating for me of all of the series that you do. You guys take it on in such a practical and relatable way, not just getting it all knocked out at once or paying a team to come in and fix it all.
If you have a power washer, the propane cleaning would go a bit faster. I love that you and Josh want to do all your renovations on your own! You are hard working people!
Propane tank looks great. One thing that might help it stay clean would be a border around it and put mulch down to prevent the mud spatter. Every propane tank I've had was the same way. Except the one on a slab but that would be a JOB. Beautiful job!
Becky, You cleaning off the propane tank, reminds me of myself. Things like that bug me too. You'll need to either put stone or mulch around it or it will be dirty again when it rains and splashes up on it from the dirt around it. I learned this the hard way, but I only had to wash it off twice!!! HA
My grandparents planted bushes near there propane tank so it couldn’t be seen by a window. They were far enough away from the tanks, that the trucks could still come in and fill it.
Getting smell out of the soft silicone bags and instant pot seals is pretty easy. Hang them, bag inside out, in direct sunlight for a day or two after thoroughly washing. I don’t know how it works but it really does.
Hi Becky, Thanks for letting us see the chickens. They have grown. So sweet! When will you start the new chicken coop? Yes, your propane tank looks much better. Wow, all the room you have in this house is amazing! That living area could be a game/TV, movie room. You are very good at your weed wacking! Thanks for sharing it all! ♥️☺️🫂🧶🧵🪡🐾🦋🌹✨️
It probably wouldn’t be best to sell it since it has been growing in a coop with chickens walking and pooping all over it. But if Becky has more around other parts of her property she could totally use it herself or like you said, freeze dry and sell it!
Loved today's video. A little of everything. I'm glad to see y'all are turning the upstairs into your dreams. Y'all are gonna love having your own offices.
Your home, and views out the windows are BEAUTIFUL!! Josh is SO talented- and, of course so are you! The dream team! Excited to continue to follow your journey!!🥰
I reuse my disposable gallon bags for things like veggie scraps & chicken carcasses that I always have in the freezer for stock&soup. When empty I wash the bags& stash in a corner of the freezer. Next time I have scraps, I grab a bag out of the freezer instead of using more disposable bags.
My sister painted beautiful flowers on her propane tank, it is so pretty, and a neat idea to make it look prettier in your yard..nice job cleaning everything up Becky!
I'm from the deep South, and it gets really hot in the summer. The only colors we are allowed to paint ours white or silver. Something to reflect the hot sun. Absolutely nothing dark that absorbs the heat. Gas and heat is not a good combination.
@sonjaallen9838 I live in Texas, I don't have a propane tank, but my sister lives in Michigan,, she used lots of pretty colors, hers is also under some big trees!
You are such a hard worker, Becky and Josh is doing a great job on your renovations. You both have a lot to be proud of and your homestead is just beautiful.
You might see if you can put some sort of Rain X on the propane tank so you won’t get a dirty build up or put a section of fence set back in front and plant a beautiful tree in front of that (crepe Myrtle) and then the tank will be camouflaged and your view will be lovely.
Ok... I love your energy!!! 😂 Love my Oleander plants in front on my propane tank (we too loose power periodically and so grateful for our propane)... a quick fix that might be helpful, just place some of those lovely pavers you used under chicken feeders; just place them all the way under the tank and the mud won't splash up on the tank.... 😊
It's so lovely to see a couple treating each other well and working together successfully. You are a great team and are very lucky to have found each other.
Becky, you truly have the most talented husband that does all the things with pride and not just well enough to not hire someone. We all love Josh!!! Love his kit too, mine is also a red glitter Ludwig
The veggie boys have a similar wooden box frame in their blueberry patch, but only seem to cover it with netting when the berries appear. It keeps the critters out. You may have some appreciative birds and deer because your berry plants look loaded!
Hello, greetings from Mexico. You have the lifestyle I have always wanted, I mean living in the countryside, with chickens, a garden and all that. By the way, I recommend a small roof for the tank. It is not good for it to be in the sun all day, especially with the heat we have had lately.
Sometimes you need just a "putter day".... where you don't do any major projects but go around and do little things that make a big impact. Looks like you had a great putter day!! Josh's windows & doors are BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I am so excited for you! I love projects and progress and it feels so personal when you invite us into your home. Your videos are perfect and you make it look so easy but, I know better. Thank you for letting us into your life. I have four grown children, 20 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and I wish I had some of the expertise you have with organizing your meals when I was younger. I had a raised bed garden and used the Square Foot Gardening book, which I have given several as gifts. I would put grape juice in quart jars and make jelly from it as needed. Also, freezer slaw was a favorite of my family. With only one zucchini plant, I would blend, skins and all, to put 2 cup portions into ziplock bags and freeze. My kids liked zucchini bars, and my recipe called for the 2 cups. It would have been so much fun for me to do some of your projects, but at this point, I am cooking for only myself. I lost my husband several years ago to ALS. I can't wait to see what you do with your kitchen in the future and I am excited to watch your green house and chicken coop come into fruition. I know you are an inspiration to a whole lot of young housewives! Wishing you and your family well and waiting to learn the little man's name one day.
Also wanted to tell you i made the chicken spinach Alfredo lasagna last week, your recipe, and was so glad to see you had some noodle sheets that curved up and were crunchy, because mine did too. My hubby didn’t like them crunchy, but leftovers are softened and very good! THANK YOU for all you bring and share in your videos!
I've raised chickens over 50 years. It is better to use some sort of soap to clean bacteria off of your waterer and feeder.I saw black mold) especially with the water spout areas and the insides of waterer and feeder. , then rinse thoroughly Putting their water and feed out in the direct sun and heat is not healthy for them either. You don't give them fresh feed every day, and it ferments in the heat.
Thank you for all you do. I have learned so much from you. I am a new gardener and jumped in by planting everything from seed. It has been amazing to see things growing and taking off. I live in Ohio and am starting to see fruit setting! It's so exciting! Hope you have a wonderful day and know how much you are appreciated! 😊
Have you thought about planting some of your calendula or marigolds in your chicken pen to replace the annoying weeds? I know you love flowers and the ones I mentioned help chickens with immunity from disease, provide antioxidents, make egg yolks richer from the vitamins added to their diet, and have the added benefit of helping ward off aphids, squash bugs, and other pests that eat your garden. I'm addicted to your channel...very motivating and fun.
Liked in the 4.3 K , shared and now commented. Great to see everyone. I totally agree that once you have home dried things... store bought doesn't even compare... Hugs from Esquimalt
They make propane tank covers that look like large rocks. It is easy to take the top off for filling. They are nice because no matter what angle you approach from it's hidden. My mom planted a few tall grasses and flowers in front of it to add a little more camouflage.
Unless you’re planning to do something around that tank, washing it will last until the next heavy rain… I would think. Maybe add a rock/stone base around it????
Typically you lay baseboard after the flooring is in, esp with wood or vinyl- you don’t want it butting up againt the trim as the trim will get wet when you wash it!
Thought the same exact thing. Why is base board and trimmed doorways going in now when flooring isn't complete. Need to get those edges of flooring underneath those baseboards and jams. Hmm.
Where you have your blueberries from the previous owner. You could use some of your woven ground cover to put around them. Then you would not have to weedeat around them.
Becky, So funny! We just got a new A/C and heater last week also! Just loving it! My husband just finished door molding in our bathrooms. Such a big job! Josh just love your door moldings your pride of work always shows through!!!! Becky aren’t we blessed to have such talented men in our lives!❤ I really miss the chickens! It was great fun to see them! Thank you for sharing your beautiful lives with us!❤
The second floor living room you can make like a entertainment room where you can play video games or watch movies and make a snack bar with a mini refrigerator or something you'd like
So happy for a new video today. Fell yesterday and broke a bone in my hand. Have a splint on it now until I go to the orthopedic doctor tomorrow. Hopefully it can be fixed with a cast and not surgery
On propane tank. Edge out a rectangle around the base and level it out. Nothing fancy. Then buy bags of small gravel rock Or small river rocks. Put it around the tank. It eliminates the splash back.
They have the things that look like fans that you have things climb up on at garden centers or a couple of your older posts with even chicken wire in between you can plant any climbing plant/ andor flowers. You could even combine them by season.
Around us, people paint their propane tanks and add flowers or grass to the bottom of it make it blend in. It’s cute. I must admit for something you have to have in your yard.
I planted bottle brush shrubs around the visible part of the propane tank. Not sure if they’d work in your area, but in hot Southern California they do great. Anyway, the bees love them, so I thought they might be a pretty perennial option to a privacy screen.
Becky, I found it is good to unload dishwasher and then put the dishwasher soap which lets us know it’s ready for dirty dishes ! Have a great day! Love watching you ! 🥰🥰 great job on Chicken coop & Propane tank ! Josh is doing a great job in your upstairs !
You look great! Healty and slender...i dont know if it is acceptable to just say this. Here in the Netherlands its a topic to adres when someone looks better than before, not the other way around though😊 . Anyway i love watching your videos and love your bread baking ones!. And the garden are my favorites. I thank you for all your work!
The weeds you are weed whacking are called narrow leaf plantain. It’s a good antihistamine and made into a tea is good for a cough I thank you for sharing with all of us
Oh my, I love your girls Becky! They are SO cute! 😊 And your propane tank looks fantastic 👏 👏👏 Josh is really good at carpentry, isn't he! Those window frames are awesome. You two are quite the team ❤

Thanks for sharing your early morning chores with us. I always wondered if anyone else, besides me, cleaned their propane tank 😂👍🏼 Loved seeing the chickens! And the trim around the upstairs doors and windows have beautiful detail. Great work Josh!
There is a spray on product available that dissolves all the grime off metal that grows over the winter on propane tanks, heat pumps and air conditioner grates. Spray it on and all the grime just rinses off. Don’t know what it is, but when I had my HVAC serviced recently he used something that did the job and only took only 10 minutes of soaking in and rinsed all the crud right off. Good idea to build a cedar privacy fence around that tank. Your bedroom view will be perfect.
Oh I love early morning projects! Always feel so accomplished if I get stuff done by noon! Maybe you could paint the tank green so it blends in with the background or maybe plant some sunflowers on the side that faces the house. That way it would work as a blind and give you some sunflower seeds to boot! Plus they are easy to take care of. Thanks for taking us along today! Have a great day!
Garlic scapes freeze dry very well. And those weeds in the chicken run are plantain. It is great for making a poultice to reduce insect bite itching/stings.
Hi Becky love your channel. To keep your propane tank clean try some landscape fabric around and under the tank, this will supress the weeds. Then cover with 3/4 inch crushed gravel. The gravel will prevent the rain from splashing dirt back onto the propane tank.
Josh dont forget the trim around the closet door across from the pantry! Sorry u quit ur job, but ur making a fantastic handy man 😎 glad to see glimpses of the house again 🐣
Everything looks beautiful. We can always hear Josh Becky. Every video as well. BTW. Can't wait to see the mom's again & your dad as well. Did you make beef Wellington for your dads birthday this year? That was a great video. God bless you all and many prayers 🙏🏻 ❤️
Your cooking videos are great, but I love when you just take us along for random house projects/cleaning. I just find it motivating and fun.

I would love an update on how motherhood is going for you. I hope you are all well. Thank you for another wonderful inspiring vlog.

That grows like crazy all over my front yard! Thanks for the info
@@stak536 There is nothing like plantain salve for minor wounds, cuts, scrapes, mosquito bites and diaper rash. A great healer and antiseptic.
@stak536 It's so good. Indigenous People used it as a spit poultice by chewing it up and applying it to wounds directly.

Paint the propane tank to make it more aesthetically pleasing to you, even if it means just painting it a green or brown.
I agree as I have a friend that used stencils. It is super pretty with about five different types of flowers and grass. Looks amazing!

I would just expand the old enclosed berry patch. Plant bushes in front of the tank.
I’m so glad that our propane tank is buried in our yard, props to you Becky I don’t think I would ever want to scrub mine
I forgot about the upstairs LOL The propane tank was my fave part!
Liked in the 4.3 K , shared and now commented. Great to see everyone. I totally agree that once you have home dried things... store bought doesn't even compare... Hugs from Esquimalt
Your home and property are absolutely gorgeous. The vision and energy you two bring to your projects are heartwarming. Thank you Becky for sharing.❤❤❤
They make propane tank covers that look like large rocks. It is easy to take the top off for filling. They are nice because no matter what angle you approach from it's hidden. My mom planted a few tall grasses and flowers in front of it to add a little more camouflage.
So excited to see how it all turns out! I'm sure you are both super excited to get back into renovations together. 💕
Hmm.
Seems they must be thinking carpet if Josh is putting in the trim.
Yes, they must have settled on rugs, then that would be the reason why the baseboards are already done in the rooms.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful lives with us!❤
It is so good to see your 'girls' again!! I have missed them!!!!
Becky motivates me to get up and git 'er done! Great video!
I love home renovations, cant wait to see the progress
On propane tank. Edge out a rectangle around the base and level it out. Nothing fancy. Then buy bags of small gravel rock
Or small river rocks. Put it around the tank. It eliminates the splash back.
Wheee! Such a joy to see the girls once again. Love how you are for them. The look so healthy and happy. Very cute.
You should spray paint the propane tank green so it blends in to the trees
They have the things that look like fans that you have things climb up on at garden centers or a couple of your older posts with even chicken wire in between you can plant any climbing plant/ andor flowers. You could even combine them by season.
In lieu of a privacy fence you could consider planting a boxwood hedge, easy fix to items you might find eyesores 😀
I think I would have laid all that cut grass under the blueberry plants as a mulch and weed block. Great for the soil and your back.
Around us, people paint their propane tanks and add flowers or grass to the bottom of it make it blend in. It’s cute. I must admit for something you have to have in your yard.
What a cute idea 😊
Flowers are a great idea
That is a great idea! I need to think about that. Green would make it blend right in I think :)
@@AcreHomesteadthere are also propane tank Wraps you can buy
Yes! A compliment is always worth saying ❤️
The weeds you are weed whacking are called narrow leaf plantain. It’s a good antihistamine and made into a tea is good for a cough
I thank you for sharing with all of us
Oh my, I love your girls Becky! They are SO cute! 😊 And your propane tank looks fantastic 👏 👏👏 Josh is really good at carpentry, isn't he! Those window frames are awesome. You two are quite the team ❤
Josh does great work! Congratulations on getting some of your household projects done.
Wow has it been two years? Crazy I’ve started watching when you were moving. Love watching your channel.
Oooh, I’d never seen the chickens or other areas of your house. This was a fun one! Thank you!
Everything looks good outside and in. Glad you can help Josh also inside.
Becky, I found it is good to unload dishwasher and then put the dishwasher soap which lets us know it’s ready for dirty dishes !
Have a great day! Love watching you ! 🥰🥰
Thanks for sharing your early morning chores with us. I always wondered if anyone else, besides me, cleaned their propane tank 😂👍🏼 Loved seeing the chickens! And the trim around the upstairs doors and windows have beautiful detail. Great work Josh!
You’ve done a great job. Josh does fantastic wood work. Love seeing the chickens again. Thank you for sharing 🤗
I needed to see the girls tonight!!! How precious are they!!!
Garlic scapes freeze dry very well. And those weeds in the chicken run are plantain. It is great for making a poultice to reduce insect bite itching/stings.
Wow Becky, you have amazing looking narrow leaf plantain growing in your chicken coop. Great to make into a salve for first aid minor skin issues.
I got my Freeze Fresh book yesterday! Love it! Thank you for the recommendation!
I believe those are narrow leaf plantain plants and they are medicinal 😊
I've seen an ad for a standup weed puller that seems to be real easy. The next time I see it I'll send it to you!!!
