    Clean out worked great. Getting that damn cotter pin back in the hole might be the hardest thing I've ever done.

      I am so glad that worked out and got you back up and running. And yes that design with the cotter key does need a little tweaking.

    Thank you so much for posting this video. I thought I was going to have to get a new grill. Mine was very severe and it only took about 1.5 hr to clear the auger. I was so thrilled when both the auger motor and igniter worked flawlessly. Again thanks so much for the guidance here.

    It looks like a brilliant idea that I am going to try out. I bought a used Bullseye and I love it but my question is, if the auger is stuck will the ignitor still fire? When I tried to cook a chuck roast that is when I discovered I had a problem. It sounds like the fan is working but I see no pellets coming out and no fire. Thank you so much, and I look forward to your advice.

    • @DRGCustomCarts
      @DRGCustomCarts  2 місяці тому

      Good evening Jeff. yes the ignitor will fire for a short time. But after it does not detect a rise in the heat via the heat probe in the cooking chamber it will shut down, and should through up a code. Now it could be the auger motor has gone up or you have a jammed auger. If you follow the steps in this video, after you remove the auger motor take a pair of plyers and see if you can tune the auger, if you can then you may have a bad motor, if the auger will not turn then proceed with the video and clear the jam that maybe all you need to do to get back up and running. I hope this helps my friend.

    Nice Video and tips! My issue is why does something this expensive have this many issues? I have a factory new unit which will not deliver pellets. Was diagnosed as having a defective auger motor. Waiting on Recteq delivery of new motor in hope of being able to use this grill. Was never offered a replacement unit. I am not all that happy so far. Looking at all the replies below I guess Recteq finds these issues common & ok. Gonna look for a better product.

    THANK YOU so much for your video and information. I had my first pellet grill auger jam - and it was a good one! A month and a half ago I realized that it was jammed and I called recteq and talked with someone from their help department on what to do. They were awesome and so patient, but after an hour and a half it was still jammed and I was out of time. We were expecting company and I had to put my unprepared Bullseye Grill back together and make other plans for cooking dinner as my Bullseye was to be the star attraction that night with our company. It's now 1 1/2 months later (we had our daughter and her family from out-of-town company for a week and half, then went on a 2 1/2 week trip to the east coast with them - getting home 2 days before more company for another 1 1/2 weeks of fun with them), and I've been able to get back to fixing my Bullseye. I've been dreading/worrying about how to do what I needed to do to get my Bullseye back running again. Today after arriving home from taking our latest company back to the airport - I pulled out my computer and found your video! I was thrilled as 1 1/2 months ago it was not online.... I knew there had to be answers on how to fix it easier than what I was trying to do before. I checked online at Home Depot for Welding Rods and all they had were 14 inch rods. I needed to go to Walmart for some bread too - so I went to Walmart first and hunting all over their hardware/auto stuff corner - I found my answer to Welding Rods - a Sign Holder post. The holder had 2 metal "polls" with a couple cross braces. The polls were definitely over 17" and the size looked similar to the welding rods you showed on our video - and it was definitely more stout than a metal coat hanger that you talked about.....so I purchased it for $1.83, got my hacksaw and cut a 17" rod out of the holder and bent the tip and went for it! In 30 minutes I had the jam cleared! I kept working at it until I could get the rod through the jam, and then until I could get the jam loosened up enough to pull the auger out. I had worried about it for a month and half and in just a half hour had the jam out. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

    I keep mine inside the garage, never been rained or snowed on. Has not jammed so far. But, I clean it out after every 3 cooks reguardless of how long each cook is. Thanks for the video. A lot of useful information..

    Thank you for this. I just about a week ago believe mine is jammed. It was all working fine and then all of a sudden it just stopped working. The control panel went dead, and saw smoke. My guess is the motor is shot too so I will have to order a new one.

    Good greif. That is awesome. I have cleared 4 jams in my Bullseye, and your weld rod and cotter pin solution are enlightening. Recteq should send you video links to every owner - and include the weld rod in the box. Thank you!

    MY MAN!! Currently have the 2nd Motha-Of-All-Bullseye-Auger-Jams in 12 months and I was within minutes of making a tool that would allow me to use an impact wrench on the end of the auger.... then I found your tip, which looks way simpler (plus I don't currently have a drill press), shopping for welding rod right now. (What is the type of welding rod in the video?) Thanks for the info... God's Speed....
    PS: Used a 5/32 x 18" solid piece of mild steel from a hardware store (Lowes & HD prolly have same) which meant I had to use a vice and hammer to bend the correct 30* angle and cut with a hacksaw to 17.5 inches. YOUR TIP DEFINITELY WORKED PERFECTLY though it required about 45 minutes of diligent drilling to finally free the jammed auger (approx 2hrs total). The volume of compacted-stuck-together-nastiness out of the pellet feed tube was shockin. I felt like Andy Dufrane digging out in Shawshanck Redemption. Given that my bullseye is stored under a vinyl cover and beneath the roof of a back porch I was totally surprised this occurred. There was also evidence of finely ground and burnt pellets within the tube itself which makes me wonder if a pellet hopper fire is possible in the right circumstances. Given that pellets are often ground by the auger it's only a matter of time before every owner is gonna face this PIA issue. (Even if stored indoors!) Again, Thank You so much your video !!!!

      Only if it's going to sit outside in the rain or humidity for a few weeks without being fired up. If you use it every week you will be fine....

    If you have the original Bullseye with black body and non PID controller, there is no cotter pin. It’s a tiny nut and bolt. I think you would pretty much remove the pellet bin above the auger.
    Not worth it to me, time for an upgrade.
