Between you, me and the gatepost, I think that the original type of trams should come back, but in a more modern form. What London needs is something like that in Manchester!!
Unfortunately the powers that be decided to invest in a rather expensive fleet of Hybrid buses specific to London, instead of investing in a light rail system for central London. Who knows, the future may change that and light rail trams may appear on the streets of central London.
Trams are such a great idea that I don’t understand why London gave up having them.
Actually, we have the London Tramlink from the City of London to Croydon. So we still haven’t got proper trams anymore!!
