Mario Kart came out in 1992, and the first F-zero came out in 1990. Also, during the SNES time, Nintendo wanted to make a 2 player F-zero after the first one, but instead they used Mario characters for a new racing game.

The inclusion of the 'Pacs from the Arcade games is a nice touch, despite them clearly contradicting your point about removing the guest characters. Honestly though, with their inclusion, it really makes me wish for a Super Smash Kart.
Excellent roster! I agree, I really don't care about seeing other characters from Nintendo franchises that aren't related to the Mario or Mario adjacent franchises! I've been pulling for Dixie Kong to make it since Mario Kart Wii. I know she was in Tour, but I want her in MK9!

The Mario series's existence is actually dependent on the Donkey Kong series, it's the other way around. But yes, your point still stands that since Mario owes its existence as a franchise to the DK franchise, characters from those games should be brought over, I agree.
I also agree that non mario characters should just be left out of mario kart. The mario series still has plenty of good characters yet to be added to mario kart and it just feels weird seeing characters like link and inkling instead of funky kong or petey piranha. And donkey kong along with luigi's mansion are very closely tied to the mario universe so it makes sense for those characters to be there.
I feel like instead of characters like Link and inkling add other Nintendo racing characters that haven't been seen in awhile like Captain Falcon and Excitebike racer
this game needs alternative costums. That would get out some recolor variants. Idea for the Koopalings, maybe they could all be combined into one character, like the yoshi variants. That way 7 slots aren't wasted but they can still be in the game. The icon would switch between them, and they would basically have their same stats as Mario Kart 8's. Just a idea I've had for a while, sense Lemmy is my all time fav Mario character. I grew up with NSMBW.
i don’t know about Ashley being added for the next mario kart game but I agree that Tiny kong should be in the next mario kart game because of they add diddy funky and dixie I feel that tiny kong would defenetly fit it will suck and be sad if she isn’t added since tiny kong was in diddy kong racing ds along dixie and diddy so if tiny kong was added I’d pick her often and I’d enjoy using her but the possibilities is that Nintendo won’t add her because people aren’t saying that they want tiny kong in the game
Nice point of view about the other Nintendo characters not joining Mario Kart 9. But I would still like to see Captain Falcon joining the game cuz we don't have a F-Zero game since a long time ago and seeing him on Mario Kart would make a lot of fans happy.
The idea of fat Yoshi being added to Mario Kart reminds me of when Big Chungus was added to Looney Tunes World of Mayhem. Even though it's unlikely, it's a cool idea.

I think you should wait until Nintendo announces their holiday games. If one of the holiday games is Mariokart 9, then get it but if not then get Mariokart 8 Deluce

Donkey Kong is technically Donkey Kong Jr, so I don’t see it happening. But Kiddie Kong I’ve always considered to be DKJ’s spiritual successor, so I’d love to see him added.
I don't think Cappy shoukd be in the roster. He's too small for Mario Kart. It's better if he acts as Mario's hat in the game (his eyes will be visible in the character selection screen and tricking)
Here is what I would love for Mario Kart. Title: maybe SUPER Mario Kart Double Dash or something like that. Customization: customization for each combination of characters and vehicles should be different from others, having their own unique parts to choose from. No two combination sets being alike. Each two characters get a variety of parts and paint jobs to choose from. Coins: Still function in the racing like in 7 and 8, but also, all the coins you collect in the race will also be used as currency to buy more parts and paint jobs. Courses: Like in 7 and 8, but also maybe add in eventually almost if not all the courses from all past games. And maybe some courses if not all of them go through changes during races Special Items: Special items should return. Like the bros' fireball bursts and Bowser's giant shell and maybe nee special items for each character like Mario having a cape feather to fly over everyone and gain a good boost in speed. But it would only last shortly or til you slam the ground blowing away all around you. X3 Stats: Stats should also be able to be tweeked some after you select your vehicle parts. Like say if you want to reduce your weight for the sake of more handling or your traction for better acceleration. But only a limited amount to keep the game balanced. We don't want the speedy cool vehicles like b dasher and P wing to suffer like they did in 8 Deluxe Trophies: For More difficult classes you finish and win, the trophies should get bigger, shinier and more detailed. Most importantly, it needs to have all karts bikes mtvs and combos worthy of being awesome in competitive online. Speed vehicles being REALLY speedy to make up for low acceleration. And MAYBE a decent mini turbo in case they get slammed alot. Also keep 200cc and all cup tour
I agree for the most part, however, I’d take out Cappy and make him an item, Ms Pacman since Pacman is the main face of his series, fat yoshi since thats just a meme, and make dry bowser a skin to Bowser, I also would remove gooigi since it seems like an alternate skin to Luigi, and finally add hammer bro, good video!

In case youve never played mario kart tour. They have actually added peachette, pauline, hammer bro (ice bro, fire bro, boomerang bro), monty mole, dixie kong, and nabbit. In addition, fan favorites such as funky kong, birdo, and diddy kong have made their return.
Tricky Nick it has great elements that have been watered down by the greedy gacha. The large roster consisting of many new and returning favorites, as well as a large amount of creative skins is one of the positives. I especially enjoy the return of special items for each driver, giving players a reason to choose drivers other than stats. Other then that, the ambition when developing new and retro tracks has been great on some occasions (not so great on others). I believe Tour has the experimental beginnings of what mario kart 9 can build off in the future, obviously excluding all the gacha and greed that comes with a mobile game. For the record I only mentioned these characters because I believe their debut in Tour greatly boosts their chances of getting into MK9
I really like the list! I agree with most of them except ROB and pac man, you said that Mario Kart should only have Mario characters, I agree with that completely but ROB and Pac man aren't actually Mario characters... I'd replace those 3 characters with chunky kong, tiny kong and swanky kong!

I wish they added a clear kart that is no better than the standard kart but it would be a reference to Mariokart Wii when they drove their invisible cars with just the wheel. The kart could have a slightly visible outline to make it slightly visible but I don’t think it’d break the game too much.
I think Honey Queen should be replaced by hammer bro (with options for all the other bros.) also give toad and Koopa Troopa color options like Yoshi and Shy Guy

It's been a bit since you've uploaded this video, so I don't know if your choices have changed, but I see two inconsistencies? 1. Metals & babies are costumes for their respected characters, but Dry Bowser & Dry Bones have their own slots 2. The Pac-duo & ROB contradict your Mario-only rule. I think it's either have none or remove the rule & leave it at 2 max, as long as it makes sense. As much as I like Pac-man, he has ONLY cameoed in the GP series & a costume in 8, whereas TLoZ & Super Mario made several cameos in each other's main games, & originating from Miyamoto. Personally, if it were me and I HAD to add guest characters, I'd only add 2, being ROB & Link. Although I dislike ROB, I'm fine with his inclusion, because other than being a huge part of Nintendo history, but like Link, he's also made several, although much fewer cameos in Mario--er, rather, Wario this time. + This one's a fun-fact with your Goomba inclusion. In case you didn't know, Goomba doesn't actually "need" hands to drive, as he can hold a bat with ease in Mario Baseball. Goombella can also easily pull out a book & turn its pages in the Paper Mario games. Other than that, you've got a pretty decent roster. I really hope I didn't sound harsh in this, I don't mean to, I'm bad with words. I really enjoyed your video!
I like this roster, but I would replace Cappy with Blooper as I think Cappy would be better as an item and we should get rid of the annoying Blooper item. I also think we should add 20 more characters: Paratroopa, Noki, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Yoshi, Gino, Mallow, Monty Mole, Chargin’ Chuck, Glydon, Whomp, King Bob-omb, Pom Pom, Cheep Cheep, Hammer Bro, Sprixie Princess, Penguin (from Super Mario 64), Wart, and Tatanga. Now I know the babies might be controversial, but the first 3 were babies that actually existed in Yoshi’s Island DS and Partners in Time, so it makes sense for them to be here. And Baby Yoshi was in New Super Mario Bros. U and is kind of cute, so I wouldn’t mind him. I’m also surprised that you didn’t include Hammer Bro and Monty Mole, since they were in Mario Kart Tour.
Also, I am not really a fan of non-Mario characters in Mario Kart, like Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-man, or R.O.B. I’m fine with Donkey Kong, Luigi’s Mansion, Yoshi, and Wario characters though. So I would replace R.O.B with Ashley, and I would replace the Pac-Man characters with King K. Rool and Kritter.
I also think you should talk about other parts of the game, like what items, retro tracks, nitro tracks, battle mode options, and mechanics you want to see.

i think it'd be cool to have a character shop of sorts where you could buy different skins for characters you've unlocked with coins you've earned from playing tracks (sort of like tour, but not as terrible). that way, gooigi, metal mario, pink gold peach, tanooki mario, cat peach and dry bowser could all be included without having to waste character slots
Little did Tricky Nick know that Mario Kart Tour would be released just a few months after this video! With that and the DLC, Mario Kart 9 is looking less and less likely any time soon. Thankfully, many of these requested characters are playable in MKT. I don't want to go back to an era where Link was not in Mario Kart hahaha. I personally would remove Hellen Gravely, the Broodles, and the Mario Party guy as they are too specific. Never really cared for the Koopalings either. What I really want to see is the Pink Bob-Ombs and King Bob-Omb in MK9. But yeah other than that is this a great list imo!

Donkey Kong is technically Donkey Kong Jr, so I don’t see it happening. But Kiddie Kong I’ve always considered to be DKJ’s spiritual successor, so I’d love to see him added.

I don't think Cappy shoukd be in the roster. He's too small for Mario Kart. It's better if he acts as Mario's hat in the game (his eyes will be visible in the character selection screen and tricking)

Here is what I would love for Mario Kart.
Title: maybe SUPER Mario Kart Double Dash or something like that.
Customization: customization for each combination of characters and vehicles should be different from others, having their own unique parts to choose from. No two combination sets being alike. Each two characters get a variety of parts and paint jobs to choose from.
Coins: Still function in the racing like in 7 and 8, but also, all the coins you collect in the race will also be used as currency to buy more parts and paint jobs.
Courses: Like in 7 and 8, but also maybe add in eventually almost if not all the courses from all past games. And maybe some courses if not all of them go through changes during races
Special Items: Special items should return. Like the bros' fireball bursts and Bowser's giant shell and maybe nee special items for each character like Mario having a cape feather to fly over everyone and gain a good boost in speed. But it would only last shortly or til you slam the ground blowing away all around you. X3
Stats: Stats should also be able to be tweeked some after you select your vehicle parts. Like say if you want to reduce your weight for the sake of more handling or your traction for better acceleration. But only a limited amount to keep the game balanced.
We don't want the speedy cool vehicles like b dasher and P wing to suffer like they did in 8 Deluxe
Trophies: For More difficult classes you finish and win, the trophies should get bigger, shinier and more detailed.
Most importantly, it needs to have all karts bikes mtvs and combos worthy of being awesome in competitive online.
Speed vehicles being REALLY speedy to make up for low acceleration. And MAYBE a decent mini turbo in case they get slammed alot.
Also keep 200cc and all cup tour

I agree for the most part, however, I’d take out Cappy and make him an item, Ms Pacman since Pacman is the main face of his series, fat yoshi since thats just a meme, and make dry bowser a skin to Bowser, I also would remove gooigi since it seems like an alternate skin to Luigi, and finally add hammer bro, good video!

In case youve never played mario kart tour. They have actually added peachette, pauline, hammer bro (ice bro, fire bro, boomerang bro), monty mole, dixie kong, and nabbit. In addition, fan favorites such as funky kong, birdo, and diddy kong have made their return.

Tricky Nick it has great elements that have been watered down by the greedy gacha. The large roster consisting of many new and returning favorites, as well as a large amount of creative skins is one of the positives. I especially enjoy the return of special items for each driver, giving players a reason to choose drivers other than stats. Other then that, the ambition when developing new and retro tracks has been great on some occasions (not so great on others). I believe Tour has the experimental beginnings of what mario kart 9 can build off in the future, obviously excluding all the gacha and greed that comes with a mobile game. For the record I only mentioned these characters because I believe their debut in Tour greatly boosts their chances of getting into MK9

I wish they added a clear kart that is no better than the standard kart but it would be a reference to Mariokart Wii when they drove their invisible cars with just the wheel. The kart could have a slightly visible outline to make it slightly visible but I don’t think it’d break the game too much.

It's been a bit since you've uploaded this video, so I don't know if your choices have changed, but I see two inconsistencies?
1. Metals & babies are costumes for their respected characters, but Dry Bowser & Dry Bones have their own slots
2. The Pac-duo & ROB contradict your Mario-only rule. I think it's either have none or remove the rule & leave it at 2 max, as long as it makes sense. As much as I like Pac-man, he has ONLY cameoed in the GP series & a costume in 8, whereas TLoZ & Super Mario made several cameos in each other's main games, & originating from Miyamoto. Personally, if it were me and I HAD to add guest characters, I'd only add 2, being ROB & Link.
Although I dislike ROB, I'm fine with his inclusion, because other than being a huge part of Nintendo history, but like Link, he's also made several, although much fewer cameos in Mario--er, rather, Wario this time.
+ This one's a fun-fact with your Goomba inclusion. In case you didn't know, Goomba doesn't actually "need" hands to drive, as he can hold a bat with ease in Mario Baseball. Goombella can also easily pull out a book & turn its pages in the Paper Mario games.
Other than that, you've got a pretty decent roster. I really hope I didn't sound harsh in this, I don't mean to, I'm bad with words. I really enjoyed your video!

I like this roster, but I would replace Cappy with Blooper as I think Cappy would be better as an item and we should get rid of the annoying Blooper item. I also think we should add 20 more characters: Paratroopa, Noki, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Yoshi, Gino, Mallow, Monty Mole, Chargin’ Chuck, Glydon, Whomp, King Bob-omb, Pom Pom, Cheep Cheep, Hammer Bro, Sprixie Princess, Penguin (from Super Mario 64), Wart, and Tatanga.
Now I know the babies might be controversial, but the first 3 were babies that actually existed in Yoshi’s Island DS and Partners in Time, so it makes sense for them to be here. And Baby Yoshi was in New Super Mario Bros. U and is kind of cute, so I wouldn’t mind him. I’m also surprised that you didn’t include Hammer Bro and Monty Mole, since they were in Mario Kart Tour.

Also, I am not really a fan of non-Mario characters in Mario Kart, like Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-man, or R.O.B. I’m fine with Donkey Kong, Luigi’s Mansion, Yoshi, and Wario characters though. So I would replace R.O.B with Ashley, and I would replace the Pac-Man characters with King K. Rool and Kritter.
I also think you should talk about other parts of the game, like what items, retro tracks, nitro tracks, battle mode options, and mechanics you want to see.
Would love to have Helen Gravely in MK or maybe even Mario Golf coming soon.

7:36 I completely agree. Mario Kart is a Mario series, unless I start seeing Link ride Yoshi in BOTW 2, third party characters shouldn’t be in Mario Kart.
Toadsworth, Baby Wario, Broodals, Birdo, Funky Kong, Kirby, King Wart, Spike, Dixie Kong, Cat Mario, Ganondorf, Piantas, and Cranky Kong need to be part of MK9.

i think it'd be cool to have a character shop of sorts where you could buy different skins for characters you've unlocked with coins you've earned from playing tracks (sort of like tour, but not as terrible). that way, gooigi, metal mario, pink gold peach, tanooki mario, cat peach and dry bowser could all be included without having to waste character slots

Little did Tricky Nick know that Mario Kart Tour would be released just a few months after this video! With that and the DLC, Mario Kart 9 is looking less and less likely any time soon. Thankfully, many of these requested characters are playable in MKT. As of May 2022, we have Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi, Birdo, Toad, Toadette, Shy Guy, Koopa Troopa, Bowser, Dry Bowser, Bowser Jr., Kamek, Nabbit, all 7 Koopalings, Dry Bones, Pauline, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Funky Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and King Boo, which make up 34 of your 60 characters!
