I’m sure if you look, you’ll find plenty of examples of children born into wealth who have little to no relationship with their parents for whatever reason. Deion had to overcome some demons to grow into what he has become. None of us are perfect. He’s truly blessed to have been able to raise his children for most of their lives as a divorced single father, and to still have a strong bond with them now.

Not all sons or kids in general pull away.. I'm actually confused about that concept? Cus most like myself raised by single mom who don't have a present dad. ALL wish they did, to have that male person they can go to for advice etc.. As a dad sure, there is a point a child excercises or shows the desire to be able to make their own decisions and be free to make mistakes. And we have to maneuver that situation or time with them. But as a father who knows this. I made sure that my kids know I'm there always. Non pulled away just cus. Sure, One has due to HER mom's influence. I didn't have custody of her. But the ones I did raise. My like my SON. Actually the opposite, as they get older they pulled closer. They understand more the struggle of me as a single parent. Some had children young so wanted, needed the guidance and support from me. Hell, they either moved me closer to them or came closer to me. Its about relationships. If you're so overbearing & mean that they can't wait to get away? Well then you lost them of your own doing... On average kids always want mom there. Dads have to know they gata create that same bond.(yes I understand we not always given same right and access to our kids as women) To be something someone the child feels is a necessity to them. It's a sad stereotypical mindset I think to say. Kids "usually want to separate", at any age. When mom is ALWAYS part of their world no matter what. So as men we have to be as valuable to our offspring so we are not deemed so disposable. Also we black men need to stop promoting that negative programming that ALL "kids want to get away" from daddy, at any age. I'm 50 have 5 kids 4 are adult. They all want me with them daily even tho it is not currently possible as they are in different places. We talk and communicate regularly so I get told of the desire to see me. To have me around not only for them but for their kids to know me, be able to benefit from my wisdom and knowledge. And True talk to those who say it ain't about the money. Money would help but I have a value as a father that is PRICELESS!!
