Its an intelligent answer, because its manipulative in a sense. He locks down him being the best to the new players, while still respecting the older players he never played...but lets face it--Jordan would've smashed everyone he listed that he didnt play, and thats because they were completely different eras...Jordans Era was different than Chamberlain, Dr. J, etc...just like Lebron's Era is different than Jordans.
The correct answer is Jordan is the GOAT of 1980-2000, and Lebron is the GOAT of 2000-2020. If i were to sprinkle my opinion in there...i personally believe that Lebron is more athletic, powerful, and has superior court vision. Jordan is a smarter player, works harder, and is the better shooter outside the key. Watching Lebron play though...to me...the things i've seen Lebron do, are much more impressive than what i've seen Jordan do.

In my opinion Michael Jordan is the best athlete of all time. I'm from Europe and still remember old times when I used to get up at night just to watch his game (then back to sleep for 2-3 hours and went to school). His moves, mental were from another planet and he won't be copied by anyone. Still remember when Michael retires, had tears in my eyes and partly stopped watching NBA. I'm still watching NBA of time to time but it's not like in the past anymore. Peace guys

Cleveland had a 52 yr. drought from any sport across the board. Lebron won a title in Cleveland singlehandedly. He was playing with schmucks for years and years unlike Jordan. Also, check the stats, Lebron is a much more well rounded ball player and can do everything Jordan could and more. Jordan didn't have the defensive abilities Lebron does, the passing, the situational awareness, and the long term vision of the game. He was a great scorer, okay passer, okay at defense, but his only "playmaking" was really offensive. Sure, he got a few picks and steals, but not at Lebron's caliber. Wake up ole timer

Idk I think we just hate to accept those we pass the torch too, will always be better. It’s not to say you couldn’t be the same or more in the present if the chance was given but more to say those whom bare the torch now are greater BECAUSE of those whom came before us. In my opinion, Lebron is the greatest, but it’s not gonna be too much longer before another young man shows even greater ability.

You may make the argument that Lebron is the better team player, but Jordan is without a doubt the better individual player and his compete level was off the charts. This is why Jordan is the GOAT.

Watching Jordan watch Lebron makes me emotional. I know the fire inside of Jordan is still burning strong but his age wouldn't allow him to get on the court.
To me, and I'm sure to millions around the world, Jordan will always be the man who not only changed the game but, he also made so many people around the world love and play basketball.

Watch several videos of Wilt Chamberlain. He often didn't even dunk but he could at will. He could shoot, rebound, and defend with the best. He ran track and was an extremely strong man. I hate making this argument bc everyone makes it but Jordan has 6 rings and never a game 7. 6-0. It's the domination. The dude won 3 easily, retired for 2 years, then came back and won another 3 before retiring again. Then came back, 38 years old on the Wizards and is still avg 20 PPG. It's almost like if he wants a ring, he gets a ring. It's on demand. That's domination. It's an auto loss if Jordan was in the finals. You cannot say that against Lebron. Lebron can't win unless he has another scorer avg over 20 PPG. Jordan didn't have anyone who avg that high. He was the offense in a defensive era. It's easy to have Lebron stats in an ear where if you touch someone you're fouled.

Michael Jordan is the greatest player of all time.. the reason I compare to lebron is because jordan had better teammates and got it all without him I wouldn't go through the same championships. But the value of air no doubt greater raised the basket to a higher level!!

So. Guessing that James winning one for Cleveland must have been a great feeling, if he said that put him over the top to be the GOAT. Maybe he thought it could never be done, when he was a Cavalier for the first stage of his career, AND he went to Miami to learn to win so he could come back to Cleveland and win one for his home state. If THAT was his thinking, and pretty sure it wasn't, it WAS a pretty great gesture. Course. He leaves Cleveland, AGAIN, when they couldn't beat Golden State and goes to LA. Individual accomplishments, as a measuring stick, obviously goes to Chamberlain. Dude scored 100 points. And I read about that game in Chamberlain's auto-biography. After he hit 100 points, there was still time in the 4th quarter, and everyone just stopped the game and walked off the court. Pretty sure, Chamberlain didn't make it up, because there were thousands at the game and the players and coaches would have contradicted him. I mean. THAT is definitely THE greatest feeling a basketball player has ever had for an individual accomplishment. I saw highlights of Bryant's 80+ game. You could tell it was great, BUT it wasn't 100. Then you go with personal drama and success and being so good AND charismatic, your teammates screw you over, and that's Bryant. You know? Course. Watching Jordan was kinda weird, because that time he came out, super legends were everywhere, and you just knew he was going to triumph in of all places, Chicago. BUT. If you notice how Jordan looked, rookie year, compared to how he looked when he won his final game as a Bull, his face changed dramatically. No one ever talks about it. If you talk about like . . odd realities . . THAT would be the one that puts Jordan at the top. He was favored by the sports gods. His game play changed his appearance from kinda homely super talent to super handsome super talent. THAT was a weird thing to witness. You don't go from a bit fugly as a dude to super handsome in 2 seasons, without some sort of odd mojo, basketball higher deity thingy working for you.
People are so hung up on who is "the" GOAT. I don't think there are any objective ways to support that claim. I think it is pointless to argue if Jordan is better than Lebron. When I was a kid, Dr. J was flying all over the place in the court with devastating results to his opponents. Wilt was a beast. Len Bias was phenomenal but he never played the NBA. These are "among" the greatest of all time and people should leave it at that.
He didn't say he was the best ever (at least not here), he said he was the best in the world...which he was at the time he said it.
