Hi - I was waiting to see her adjust the air flow from carpet to floor - but she didn't show it. When using this on carpet there are two (2) buttons you have to press; Power AND BrushRoll (Power is upfront, brushroll right under it). Now, I've had an Oreck for 14 years; serviced it twice. But, it was time to go. I got this Shark and have been using it for 3 weeks now - I kid you not - WOW ... the dirt that it picked up! I was amazed. Not whisper quiet, just normal vacuum noise (that Oreck got loud-whew). Just one area filled the canister with dirt. It's not heavy! but not that light either...so far just right. I cringed when she pulled it by the hose - that's a no no (don't need instructions to tell you that). But this lil baby works. I got a lil too close to dog's leash, and quess what? Yep, it got sucked in! I screamed NO! I managed to turn it off quickly and very careful get the leash out. Whew, that was close. Make sure stuff not lying around. A lot came with it too, plus a smaller kit for car cleaning - haven't gotten that far - nor, attaching and using all those extras. The carpets haven't been this 'plump' in years! Hubby always lays on floor and he started to do the angel arm swing (like you do in the snow, ya know) and he said, "Hey, this carpet feels new again." He's right. Now, it's only been three weeks, but I do hope to have it working like this for years to come! After the first pass the rollers had a lot of loose hair and string; I was very careful getting it out (I don't yank on anything, I loosen it or use scissors to cut the stuff away). The canister is easy to remove and clean. I'm actually having fun. It cleans guys. I came here to find more specifics as I haven't gone thru every attachment...and the instructions are more pictures than really describing things for me...but, happy nonetheless. Hope this review helps you decide one way or another.
I somehow feel that a woman that demonstrates these for a living knows a little more than you about how to use it. There is nothing wrong with pulling by the hose. If its that delicate, it's not worth half of what they are charging for it.
There is so much "over-sell" on this vacuum, and and I'm wondering if it's worth all the hype. For one thing, there are multiple model numbers of this particular model. I have the NV552. Additionally, here is the "Navigator" as well as the "Rotator." I wish the Shark pushers would stop calling this vacuum "lightweight." The model I have (NV552) is anything but lightweight! The NV552 does not have the feature that allows you to place the cannister on the caddy when using the vaccum on carpeting. A sales representative for Shark informed me that this feature comes with the next model "up." (Not sure which model no. that would be, though). The sales pitch also includes a rave review on the suction of this machine whereas this is not entirely the case, either. The suction is adequate but not extraordinary by a long shot. When pushing the "power" button and "brushroll" on carpet, the desired result should show that there has been suction, right? The brushroll, if adequately cleaned first, should pick up matter that was on the carpet, no? That has not been my experience thus far with the Shark Rotator NV552. Its suction capacity is fair, but not extraordinary and not even "very good." On the plus side, if you get turned on by a whole bunch of "extras" -- e.g. attachments -- then, by all means, this could be your dream vaccum. But keep in mind, there is also a bunch of promotional b.s. that comes with this vaccum cleaner.
I have loved all my sharks. I kinda but the new models shortly after they are released. Shark vacuums just get better and better. I’m wondering how mark Rosan is gonna beat the duo clean powered lift away. It’s incredible. Don’t know what he can do to make it better. We have 6 cats and a dog so lots of hair. I usually vacuum 2-3 times a day coz of the hair and the sharks never let me down. The new duo clean powered lift away is also so so quiet Regards guys David ( from the Uk)
+Beth Torrey Take every hose that detaches and check very carefully..use a flashlight if you need to. I found a clog on the curved part of the handle where it meets the hose. It was tricky to remove.
Back in 2007, my wife see a qvc advertisement about this small vacuum called Power Tiger. These crooks said it can lift a bowling ball and was so powerful but when my wife got it, it was crap can't even vacuum a hair. When call back for the money guarantee policy, it cost more to ship back then just forget about it. Now, we never buy things from these craps no more. If we want something, go to walmart for target or sam's club.
all reviews: are you kidding me?! I would like to see a real review, dirty house, take the vacuum apart to see how to dislodge a clog, i would like to see the bottom of the machine, the entrance hole where the debris enters, its travel to the bin, how to clean the hepa filters...every review i have seen has been a joke and has left me disappointed. do i really have to do my own review? i watched a cnet review and it was silly. all i am asking is for an honest review. let's get real. thank you.
Und the hose was broken from the handle, regularly used it on 90 sqm for two times only of monthly when bought on Oct 2014. For a nzd$500 appliance used not even 2 years one of the main parts got problem, I doubt very much about your whole range of product. BUT I’ve been used my old one for over than ten years the brand De’Longhi and it still works well. This replacement parts will cost about nzd60 and it is on back order and no ETA…., I can understand that why it’s on back order as too many customer need replace it. Also I saw many product sell on Trademe, people were not satisfied this product. Will not even consider next time and not recommended to all!! And the Shark Rotator Professional Lift Away Vacuum still keeping put commercial advertising on TV for poor quality product. should never trust them!!

I bought this but it didn't come with the canister or small attachments. Why didn't it?

I dont care for them. A commercial vacuum or Kirby will do you good for many years.
It doesn't vacuum under beds unless you use the handheld, which I guess for an upright is to be expected.
I know It's hard to find a good low reaching Upright there's some good ones like Oreck, Riccar and SEBO.
Will it pick up Dog Hair which is in the carpet

I havve this machine, it will not power up. I've checked for blockage and found none. What can I check next? We have it for 6 months.

Correction on my post. I meant to say, "Additionally, THERE is the "Navigator" as well as the "Rotator."

I find the "Professional" rather deceitful. A real professional or commercial vacuum would blow this thing out of the water.
