@@borkboi9445 Most of the people who lived under Brezhnev didn't feel they lived "under actual authoritarianism". Only dissidents who openly called for dissolution of the USSR were persecuted, they were a very small minority. The US treated their own dissidents in a very similar way, especially back in the 50s and 60s.
