I was not familiar with this particular series of Jessie Gussman’s so it was a real treat listening to this first book in this series and I must reemphasize a real treat. And I think it goes without saying but I’ll say it again I loved listening to Jay Dyess many voices and his dramatic emphasis’s in just the right spots. A great pleasure!

I read this story a year or so ago. It was great to experience it again with your voices, Jay! I loved all of it :). Chapter 9 and the last chapter are probably my favorites. I love the reveals and the happy ending:)

The bane of so many love stories is the “misunderstanding” that keeps lovers apart. Thankfully, the one in this book - unlike, say, Romeo and Juliet - doesn’t kill either or both of them, but it persists, improbably, through eight chapters. I’m taking a break, hoping for the best when I return, because the story is otherwise far more mature than the usual romance, including the two I’ve written. The narrator is also different, a seasoned man without a trace of the actor about him, in the best sense.
Another great audiobook, Jessie this is my 3 series and I most say I look forward to hearing the book, I'm on chapter 18 and anxious to see the outcome it seems like there's no way but I'll keep hearing, fingers crossed 🤞

Not perfect people, but perfect characters. The themes in this book of reintegration after incarceration and the stigmas you fight, adoption, and more are all really well done.
