Good video Pierre. I must say I was waiting for you to mention the failed vacuum pods as an additional source of issues in these cars. It is timely as I have been trying to diagnose my 450SEL and found these to be the problem. Fortunately I have George Murphy sending me a new set. Thanks again for your videos, I always enjoy them.

My W116 has a totally different system. The water valve is controlled by a sliding unit, not push button. The AC compressor operates from a rotary switch, as does the fan motor. No push buttons.

I have a 1976 450SEL with no AC. Its been seen by many mechanics but no one explained clearly like you did. Thank you. I will try the defrost option to see if it works for me. I will need help with parts or diagnosis best you can. Thank you, Kali

Rebuilt more than my fair share of these systems... when they work, they are surprisingly good. But one things out of place, and its a challenge... used to have the Chrysler factory tester, but could never figure out how to adapt it to Mercedes wiring plug harness under the dash

Hello Pierre, I have a question for you, on a 1982 MB 300D I'd like to upgrade the steering wheel and horn with a W124 wheel and horn assembly, is this a bolt on? Is there a specific MB steering wheel puller to use? Thank you for your time Pierre.

I am more and more fascinated by the 6.9. Of course, it's legendary for being a money pit and impossible to service because no one knows how to fix it. Am I crazy for wanting one?

You're not crazy for wanting one. Thing is the money pit theme is not correct, & mechanics who can fix them are few & far between. There is nothing hard about repairing them, providing you use common sense. They are easy to service.

Thank you for the valuable information,
Ware can I get the air conditioning vacuumed diagram since my vacuum system in my W116 450SEL looks like spaghetti and with some pulled down lines as well?

@@mercedesclassicswithpierre1753 So i got it to turn off by removing the Blower Motor fuse in the fuse box and then I was able to press the off button to turn it off and I was able to also press the DEF button and it would turn on without the fuse in the fusebox... Now it doesnt work again so I put the Blower motor fuse back into the fuse box and after half an hour it somtimes turns back on or somtimes it turns back on instantly but I have to unplug the fuse to get it to turn off. sometimes I can press thee DEF button and it will turn back on but its not 100% Latley it has not been working again. Any suggestions? Is there a wire loose? What would I check in this situation? I did notice that I had put the fuse back in and it didnt turn back on till I had hit a bump in the road making me think a loose wire but could be a coincidence?
