I saw the barker when I went to Frankfort for the first time. It was amazing to see her.

I get excited when the 1000 footers arrive and depart, The American Century, Edwin H Gott, Paul R Tregurtha and James R Barker are The Great Lakes superstars in my opinion!

If she can do 18mph as is, I wonder how much faster she would be with a sharper bow.

Lakers are built that way for a reason. They're very different than Salties.

@@RealJeep I understand the reasoning. Just wondering out loud so to speak.

@@firemedic5100 Grok says: Ice Breaking: The Great Lakes are known for their harsh winter conditions, where ice can form thick layers. Ships with rounded bows are better equipped to break through ice. The curvature allows the ship to push ice aside rather than ride up onto it, reducing the risk of the ship getting stuck.
Wave Handling: The Great Lakes can experience significant wave action. A rounded bow helps in cutting through waves rather than riding over them, which can make the ship more stable and less prone to pitching in heavy seas. This design reduces the impact of waves, making the journey smoother and safer.
