This guy is unique. I like his style, and his instruction. I remember rocking to this masterpiece in my car, back when it came out. I can't wait to try this song! I rely heavily on the UA-cam guitar/song instruction channel "Shut Up And Play" for most of my covers (excellent instruction), but I think this version may be easier to play. I'm a 58 yr old "couch strummer", and mostly play for friends and family. I'd love to make a little money on the weekends at bars and restaurants, but I'm a little shaky about it😅 I've played drums/sang in several local (non pro) cover bands through the years with ZERO stage fright. That's ZERO stage fright for over a couple decades now. But for some stupid reason, I'm scared as hell to "expose" myself on stage with just me and a guitar (and possibly harmonica). But I think, this year I'm going to give it a go anyway. Hell, they can't eat me! 😂
OMG! This is awesome. Absolutely nailed it for acoustic guitar using the capo and allowing the open strings to ring. I loved this song since it came out all those years ago. It's never lost any of its appeal and never ages. Thank you so much, Mate. Shame you haven't got a special thanks tip option. I'd have put some dosh in. Superb!
Great Vid!!! Just watched with headphones during my lunch here at the office! I can't wait to get home and try it! thanks for posting! I look forward to seeing more of your videos! Cheers!
Superb Kyle….I watch a lot of you tube videos (should probably spend more time playing 😂). I was looking for an acoustic part for my band . Our keyboard player is taking a break and wee need to fill the space and add more depth. I prefer this key to sing to too. Awesome video…you have talent and you are a natural teacher. You can definitely make a career of this. Good luck from France 🙏🙏🙏
Kyle thanks for sharing this! Do you ever play the verses with a combination of picking and strumming in this set up? I ask because this sounds like the cleanest and most vibrant setup I've heard. Gonna try today w/ your setup 🙂I play it now standard E tuning (Am7 + fmaj7/c + G6 + fmaj7/c > chorus C/G maj + G(w/ alternating Gsus4) + Fmaj7/C) with alternating picking and strumming.
Bro, I love how it sounds but your instruction as far as finger placement goes is a tad confusing. Do you have any tablet or that you could upload that would allow us to better understand what you’re trying to do the guitar
Hey man! Thanks for watching. I haven't made tabs unfortunately (nowadays my videos usually include tabs / graphics on screen to help clarify what I'm playing, but when I filmed this a couple years ago I wasn't doing that). However, I did make a short which zooms in pretty closely on the finger placement for the verses (which is the cool part, the chorus is just normal chords, nothing fancy). ua-cam.com/users/shortsG7bTn1N_ylc Hopefully that can help you out a bit more! P.S: When you see me bring my thumb up in the short video, what I'm doing is lightly touching the low E string so that it gets muted and the A string rings out as the bass note for that chord. Hope that makes sense 👌

This is truly a fantastic instructional video. Proof that you don’t need bells and whistles to make great content. Thank you Sir from the UK 🇬🇧
Great arrangement for acoustic, thanks!

On this one I usually just strum, but it would definitely be nice to pick/strum combo it as well!
Sweet!
Seriously.. how do people fit all those fingers so close together? Especially on that very first chord.
