Dude...nice flanger. I almost said Chorus, and I never confuse the two. That's how cool this pedal is!! The dude's right, there aren't any bad settings here.
I just bought one of these based on this review. It's perfect for my purposes. I love the sounds I get out of this unit. It's got a permanent place on my board.
actually, i've heard this a couple of times... with various pedals. the problem is actually with the big muff. i can't remember the technical stuff but some true bypass pedals will greatly boost the volume of a big muff when engaged. the solution is to stick a buffer between the two.
If you look carefully at the image in the video, you will see that there are three cables: instrument in, out to other effects & amp, and a little one which is a power cable. For some strange reason, MXR thought it was a good idea to put the AC adaptor input on its small stompboxes on the side. It sort of makes them seem "special" in my eyes, but they do sound good.
With flange, do you find a usable tone if placed before distortion pedals? The rule of thumb is usually modulation after dirt, but I wonder if flanging into dirt boxes is the answer.
How is using the Micro Flanger as a chorus pedal compared to the Micro Chorus? I liked the way the MF sounded as a chorus effect than in your MC video. I'm looking for that deep watery ambient chorus as opposed to the nirvana sound. I'm just wondering if the MF would do a better job or is the MC capable of that?
It's something you really have to try both ways. I'm finding I like it after, but I don't think that there's a "right" place for a flanger that everyone would agree on.
I hope this is not a stubborn question, but I was looking at the MXR 117r and wondering if this smaller flanger can do practically the same things. Can it work through some Suouxsie's Banshees, Bauhaus; maybe even Roxy Music ('space effects' and all?)
I know this is late but, phasing is like going wah wah with your mouth. Flanging is going wah wah with you mouth but putting your hand closer and further from your mouth. If you google it there are diagrams.
@chcknhntngottaloveit im pretty sure that is a chorus that jerry cantrell used on that song do you have a chorus but you can get good settings out of either i imagine
I really liked that you played "Who can it be now?" by Men & Work- great tune and awesome playing. Really nice sound too.
HUGE points for playing the intro to "Hear About It Later" by Van Halen! Such an underrated song!

i like how subtle you can make the effect, there are a few great sweeping flangers out there but this one gives you better option in my opinion.
What a nice little flanger. My friend has one that he uses with his Rhodes and it sounds amazing. I def want one for my guitar rig.
Yes, one on the speaker (Royer R-121) and one a few feet back for depth (Shure KSM27). Thank you!
PGS
@ojosdeweber - I think we put the overdrive before in this vid. Thanks!

Nice to hear a bit of The Cure in there Andy!
Sweet Robert Smiths sounds!
i have found that this pedal boosts the signal on its own, warmly.
Great song at the beginning!
Yay for playing something The Cure-ish in this demo! They are perfect for demoing mod pedals, don't you think? ;)

Great. You just conviced me, playing "hear about it later"
Because it's actually Overkill by Men At Work. Et viola. A deeply underrated track.
MEN AT WORK!!!!
wow at the start it sounds so chorus-y :D love it
You got this demo up fast! Didn't these things just get in stock? I'm super stoked on this pedal, definitely gonna pick one up.
VH-I don't wanna hear about it later!
Andy, you rule! :-)
Primary(The Cure) at 3:53
yes!! it is capable of reproducing a phased flange sound!! i'm getting this!!
Who could it be now.great song.
andy you are always a man at work

Hey PGS, do you typically record your demos with one or two mics? And which ones? Very curious. Big supporter, thanks.
is there a difference between phasing and flanging?
Can this be used with a 9v power supply? not a 9v battery

finallyyyy iv been waiting so long for this video haha, sick little pedal

thats what rate is. Rate = amount of cycles in a certain amount of time
I'm hearing a little Men At Work if I'm not mistaken? Bit of an 80's fest. Niice....
I hope this is not a stubborn question, but I was looking at the MXR 117r and wondering if this smaller flanger can do practically the same things. Can it work through some Suouxsie's Banshees, Bauhaus; maybe even Roxy Music ('space effects' and all?)
Nice flanger!
Who could it be down under mate? What the heck is bucket brigade? Do these pedals come with power adapter or do we get screwed again?
@ojosdeweber Usually overdrive is early in the chain. Right after EQ and compressor. Delay usually last.
Was that first one Men at Work? This guy should play for the Rockwiz band!
Who Can It Be Now \m/
@Duraan84 wouldn't that be a phase not a flange?
Nice VH.
Is there a setting that removes the sweep?
Is this pedal before or after the overdrive ? thx
I'm getting one with its companion MXR Micro Chorus!!!!!
Can I use this with my 6 String Bass? Will it give me good tones?

Andy, you F'n Rock
Can i play high landrons using this one?
@journeyquest1 Yes I know that's the rule, but the PGS crew prefer their modulation (eg: chorus) before dirt.
Sounds great =)
was the first song from men at work?
@machinegunguitar I'm talking about the manual setting on the MXR Flanger.
What's the song starting at 3:47???
@tolchok89 Yes, it was Who Can It Be Now?
@TheSlugger099 Don't go by me but I think flanging is just a modifiedphase inversion to provide a slightly different effect.
bellissimo suona da sballo grandeeeeeeeeeeee
Van halen! Hear about it later.
does this take 9V batteries? What type of power supply does it take?
Primary - the Cure
Man at work!
This is great, even If I'd rather not use a flanger :D
@Duraan84 my mistake
i just want to see if im right: "josies on a vacation far away!"
@moucon I've always kinda liked EHX pedals, idk though. They make some nice reverbs and Small clone! Although they may not be what they used to -_-
Why does it sound like Who Can It be Now by men at work
@MrBurnyAM a Lovepedal Kalamazoo
@Aehro YES!
can i get a jet flange sound with this? or the flange sound of the song "Lightning Crashes" by Live? Thanks!
@TheSlugger099 yes.
Yea!
@dynamitri sounded like it!
was that "overkill" at the beginning?
BTW, There are several gay guitarists too, you have to accept the reality of the situation. It's not all straight people.
@chcknhntngottaloveit im pretty sure that is a chorus that jerry cantrell used on that song do you have a chorus but you can get good settings out of either i imagine
@jackoliverw1 I love that song so much
@Torrello13
i thought the exact same thing when i first heard it
*sigh* I want MXR to do a two-knob chorus soooooo bad...
@caiaum2 It almost sound like The Outfield at the beginning
my mistake...
Lacks the Reticon chip of the original, not quite as sweet sounding....
the cure! :)
