Evil and sadist lecturers in Nigerian universities and polytechnics. Either sex maniacs or marking down students. A minority are sane but they have to be careful or would be hounded out by other lecturers.

This Zambia 🇿🇲 man is speaking so much common sense 2:46 and this problem doesn't just start from schooling system in African but most African parental upbringing sadly do not encourage children to be critical thinkers nor challenge the narrative. This type of upbringing follows children into the school system that still promotes cramming theories instead of practicals.

It's still much happening in Nigeria. Some will even go to the extent of saying 'A is for God, B is for me, C is for the most serious student...'
The will even send student out of the lecture throughout semester. The lecturers will mark students down claiming that nobody get full mark.
I went through a lot when I was in school. It's such a terrific experience.

Exactly Adeolaaaaaa.... I have told people that we need to move on from blaming the colonial masters for what happened to us and start holding our political leaders and head of organisations accountable. Nigeria desperately needs a system that is designed for us and created by us taking consideration of both the top class citizens and common masses. Our school system has deteriorated. As someone who is still in the University system, I am in my third year. I would say it still happens, lecturers reciting textbook and not teaching. I can remember my first year, I had a lecturer who was branded as someone who had a narrow style. Students failed her course every year because of the rigid style of teaching, after taking her once, I made it a duty to avoid her classes. She only read her material and never gave room for free-thinking.
As she wrote it in her material, you must vomit it for her in the exam, I got points deducted for synonym change. It was a miracle I passed that class.
But as I have moved up, I have had the opportunity to meet some lecturers who take their time to teach and open the floor for questions and arguments but not because the university reformed or anything but from the lecturers own personal effort. If I was to describe the educational system, it would be a lack of options or variety.

@@kennethnwokocha6460 absolutely. It is a waste of effort. I mean it is good to commit some things to memory but a premium shouldn’t be put to that. We need to restructure our education to reflect critical thinking. My lecture use to say “there is no right or wrong answer. All I need is your thought process. When kids ask their parents questions about something that goes against common sense ( "in all things give thanks, for this is the way of ....) they are told to "shut up." Am currently studying sculpture at yabatech, on our first class there was no introduction to the course because the lecturer believe we out to have understood it. There wasn’t nothing like introductions tools and uses.
Last year during lockdown here in Nigeria, I took my time studying online. I subscribed to new masters art academy, Robert Bodem and Eirik Anersen on patreon where I learnt the basis and proper way of sculpting .
I just wish education here too can be standard .

I currently work with a university Academic City University College which is working to improve tertiary education in Africa. Mostly practical classes and forced thinking and encouraging students to open up and exchange ideas. I think we’re on the right track

Apart from Medicine, Nursing , lab science , pharmacy , some science subjects, and Engineering in some universities. Education in Nigeria is in a Very very backward state, and even the above mentioned professions still have alot to of deficiencies, but atleast their teaching is still practically oriented more than many others though there is the issue of lack of funding for modern equipment to aid practical teaching...
