I’ve been so stressed at college due to exams and upcoming finals and to see Comic Pop cover one of my favorite Justice League stories completely made my week!

Stop questioning the Savior! I have suffered on this planet for long enough! I AM NOT GOING TO ANSWER TO A GODDAMN ROCK MAN ANYMORE!" _Lex gets the Omega Effect_ *Rebel Old Man:* "Daaaaah shit."
I was reading Rebirth#1 on the DC Universe app. The comic says WAIT! Read Justice League # 52 first. I say "Sure." It's the last friggin issue of an even I never read. Batman needed a Green Lantern ring to get off some chair, some girl I didn't know died, Darksied was a friggin baby. I died laughing.
Man Sal must be the *God of Telepathy* , because I was just thinking about Darkseid War today at work and when you would eventually cover it on Back Issues.
I have the omnibus of Justice League The Darksied War. While some of the story was good at times and iffy at other times the artwork is amazing to look at
I think I have a problem. Since this dropped I’ve watched this many times. Number 4 now. You guys need more subs wth with people. Keep up the great work guys NJ representn.
It's amazing how many threads from this were in Rebirth books I read & each time I thought "well that was a weird arc." But let's face it the most interesting thing is this Back Issue was that Cat Fact about multiple dads.😊
The end of the new 52. Right about when I started watching your channel. Was looking for someone to explain infinite crisis because i needed to hear someone else say it out loud.
Damn. I remember reading this. It was good art pacing and story. but it was such a missed opportunity that Johns didn't utilize Azarello's Diana. It would have been fun to see how an "Old God" Diana interact with "New God" Batman.
I have been waiting SO LONG to find out what happens in this event but, for whatever reason, it's the one event I refuse to read. Thank you, guys, for not making us slog through Darkseid War alone.
Its weird watching you guys talk about an event that i remember you talking about happening. Sal even says the same things about how batman ask who the joker is. another great episode though
Yes! Been wanting this covered since the off the rack days, hoped by the time it was a back issues we'd know who the three jokers are ..... and yet here we are
You know, much as it could have been named better, "Darkseid War" does *kinda* make sense. But only when you realize that, by the end of the story, it became a war OVER Darkseid, more than it was a war WAGED BY Darkseid.
I just realized something wasn’t the crime syndicate all killed off within this entire story so how are they even in alive in Bendis Superman right now if we all saw them get killed off.
A recreation of what happened while I watched this video Sal: "Oh, shit!" And they are both vaporized by Doctor Manhattan. Ethan: ... Ben: ... Sal: ... Me: ... w h a t
A reason Wonder Woman probably didn't get a one-shot issue was because she was The God of War at the time , after she killed the new 52 Ares/War (Who looked like Brian Azzarello)
iv wanted this one. i actually liked this story but man it was flawed. as expected Sal made it 100% better, great episode as always. P.S. i always thought the story should have been call "The Holy Grail War" since Grail is the real "mastermind" and some of them are after the Anti-Life like its the holy grail. Just "Grail War" would have worked since they probably would't want to say "Holy"
Y'all should do the stories leading up to Superman Final days. Just to have a theme going here cuz this is one of the events that led up to new 52 Supermans death. I remember groaning in the Rao story after I laughed at the room of dead Supermen exchange. But I actually kinda enjoyed the depowered storyline. So it would be cool to see that trend. I own them digitally but I might even buy them and send the physical copies just so I can get the enjoyment of you guys reviewing them
Over here waiting for them to bring up Grid still being inside the Chair when Dr Manhattan smited Owl-Man and Metron in Doomsday Clock... I still think it's going to be the crux of the story or something!
I have to admit, I'm one of the assholes that really loved the JL Gods. If this had been pre-new 52 then the concepts for GL, Batman, Flash, and Shazam are so rewarding for those characters. But regardless I still really love the idea.
So, that summation of the storyline really sold me on picking it up. That sounds awesome (unexplained baby Darkseid sounds dumb, but I can let that slide)
Aye would you ever be able to make it to a Kansas City Comic Con/Planet Comic Con? The one for this year has already passed but if you could make it out here in the future that would be fucking amazing! Gotta meet the gang in person! You all are the shit, keep up the stellar work
Overall...I think that (Trinity War not withstanding) Geoff Johns Justice League run was pretty good. Their where some minor things that bugged me (This being a New 52 era book that's not surprising) but if your a fan of the League and Geoff Johns I recommend it.
Richard Schneider Throne of Atlantis onward (minus Trinity War, but forever evil was awesome) really did it for me. The first year was iffy for me. Not bad, but it just picked up a lot more with Throne of Atlantis imo.
Coming back to this story this whole thing really feels like DC's original sin the superfluous names of the heroes turned "gods" the retcon bombs that are dropped (WW's secret brother, 3 jokers) the big thing being a battle between 2 ancient forces, Darksied and Mobius
I always interpreted Wonder Woman not getting a god power as her not needing it. She's already a bastard child of Zeus in New52 continuity (and forever, now, apparently, because of the movie... goddamnit), as well as Athena's emissary on Earth, so she doesn't really need help to hang with the big boys.
I'd like to know when things changed in the process for this. The story had direction, even if it sucked. So when did the seed of Doomsday Clock take root in Johns and was it worth it considering the outcome?
The premise of Darkseid vs the Anti-Monitor sounds awesome in its own right, but it needs to be done as an Elseworld story that cannot be part of the multiverse or omniverse (or whatever they like to call it). In fact, a lot of problems with these Event Comics can easily be solved if they simply make them non-canon and don't affect the mainstream timeline.
I thoroughly enjoyed Darkseid War, and I'm quite thrilled to watch an hour of Sal tearing it asunder, haha.
Kid Ragnarok Agreed. And an enjoyable hour it will is.
@@mathewsimoes5830 Very much so. As much as I like the story, their scathing commentary was hilarious.
same here
It's what Sal does best.
Then is not good.

sal is on par with kevin smith when it comes to story telling. and yes I do mean it as high praise.
Walt Disney? Seriously?
No joke, I was actually wondering today if Sal was going to explain Darkseid War anytime soon.

Is it wrong that I don't know where the finger guns for Geoff Johns came from, but now I miss it when they don't do it anymore?

😊
YAZ! I love this story. Jason Fabok's art is pure magic.
" . . . and she's Darkseid's daughter . . ."
Uh oh. Darkseid made Darkseid Love not Darkseid War.
“Because that’s $20”
DC Comics Darkseid Wars is Worth Million Dollars.
The batman , deadpool, and Ethan crossover we have been waiting for via comic pop.
Yess I wanted this so bad this series
Please back issue secret empire and rock of ages and dc metal please im dying of wait

What’s Grail gonna do with that Darkseid baby?
SuperComicFanboy 616 well she tried to raise darkside but then darkside got turned into baby and then turned back to Darkseid again

Lol I'm 2 and a half minutes in and Sal already looks like he's gonna blow a gasket. I love it lol
Funny thing about Darkseid War is that all the threads are continued except for Shazam.
This will always be special to me because this is when I officially got into comics weekly
Can we have Tom Kings run on Mr. Miracle
Absolutely.
I remember darkside war it was really interesting and this was a really fun back issues
I like how this book tries to make Steve Trevor remarkable but somehow makes him more unremarkable lol
Ohh! This is the story where Jessica Cruz becomes a Green Lantern. Dope!
On a side note... The Green Lantern One Shot from this series is fucking awesome.
Thank you, Will! MVP!
The commentary during the read threw really makes the show. Tell Danielle I said hi. Lol
This is the story where I learned that, yes, Darkseid fucks.

It's been a very long couple of weeks but i'm always ready to sit down and enjoy some DC comics absurdity
I was just thinking about this story and how Sal needs to do it. Best JL story of the last 8 years
This story was cool, confusing, and kinda insane and Sal captured it so well.
I've been waiting for this day...
This might be one of the few comics that ties together everything Sal can't stand.
BUT THAT TOM KING GREEN LANTERN TIE IN!!!!
I own the same flannel as Ethan! “Pencils in +10 to awesomeness”
I've waited along time for this
And I'm not disappointed
Had a long day stressing about a math test and went straight to work for 5+ on campus. Back Issues is the perfect college escape

Superman becomes the god of trusting Lex Luthor.
Dope. I JUST started the trade last night. Gonna finish it, then come back to this episode with it fresh on the mind. Dope dope dope
YES! I was just reading this again! lol Thanks, ComicPop!
Morbius chair
Wanted more of God Luthor, especially him becoming increasingly frustrated by how much responsibility the powers or a God come with.
I wish I could superchat on back issues
Thanks for doing this you guys. I'm one of the ones who wanted to hear you go over it. I'm not sure why either.
I literally read the entire event yesterday. I am so excited to hear the jokes about it, though.
Imagine if Palpetine & Vader fought, but both of em' are GODS.
Its weird watching you guys talk about an event that i remember you talking about happening. Sal even says the same things about how batman ask who the joker is. another great episode though
I remember really enjoying Darkseid War when it was coming out but... It didn't age well. Jason Fabok's and Francis Manapul's art is gorgeous, though.
I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS VIDEO!!!
This is one of those stories I read as it was coming out and I remember loving despite the fact that I can't tell you for the life of me what happened
Literally just got the full darkseid war run and tie ins in single issues today in the mail lol
