Statue was unguardable.

Lol
Give Anthony Davis a million and he well guard it construction
nice
Ayo_ Ocho ill pay AD a million to teach you English
That one legged fade away helped him to go past the heat in 2011 to win his 1st championship. Nothing but respect. 6th all time on scoring list. Damn !!
Nowitzki is a one trick pony!
Sam Bee he can post up (fade or up and under), shoot the three and play the pick and roll or pop. You dumb lol 😂
Regular season list. Add playoff points onto that and Dirk already passed Wilt weeks ago. Tim Duncan moves up 5 spots to #9, Hakeem is #10 instead of #12 and Jerry West moves up TEN spots. Why are playoff points disregarded? The all-time scoring list is a sham.
@@tonytouch4583 Tell me how many tricks you count here ua-cam.com/video/V5jsRAgjV1Y/v-deo.html
@@tonytouch4583 are you fuckking serious?.... hes a god on post-ups.. back i nthe day he can barrel his way in with his great skills in the post.... that fadeway is just his go to move becaus it is unguardable....
watch his games back then... you'lll realize immediately that you are a fake fan of nba basketball... also just search his accomplishments and achievements taht will help a lot...
Destroyed, Lakers big 3, Thunders’ big 3 and the infamous HEAT big 3, in one playoff run. how badass can you be
Lakers big 3? 💀 they did not have one of those Kobe carried the scoring load pau barely averaged like 16 pts per game and who’s the third??
And swept Trail Blazers with Roy and Aldridge
Spoodermans 17 Lamar Odom tried haha

I’m proud to say that I grew up in the Dallas area watching Dirk play and win us a championship. What a career he had in Dallas. Thank you Dirk 🙏
Be proud moreso his home town in Wurzburg, Germany!
I still miss him. Those 21 years were awesome.
What is the function and apex of Dirk Nowitzki's high arcing shot?
At 7'0'' tall, Dirk Nowitzki towers over almost everyone on the court. To add to that, he has one of the highest arcing shots in the league, which makes it so satisfying to see the ball go in the hoop, as the ball flies so high. In one clip of the 2011 NBA Finals, Dirk Nowitzki's shot goes almost off the screen. So I became curious, how high did this shot truly get at its apex, and if I know the starting and finishing point and the vertex, what is it's function?
I was able to find out that his typical release point is 9.5 ft high! This gave me a starting point with the y-intercept, as the y-axis was the height of his shot, and the x-axis was the distance. I also was able to see in the clip that his release point was roughly half a foot or so behind the three point line, and at this point the 3 point line is 23.9 feet away from the hoop. Thus, I could assume that he was 24.4 feet away from the hoop, giving me the starting and finishing x and y axes: (0, 9.5) and (24.4 , 10) (An NBA basketball rim is 10 ft high)
For the apex, I had to find out how high was at its peak, which would have been at 11.2 feet far (22.4/2). One of the announcers can be heard saying, "that's as high as the shot clock". In reality, it looks even higher. By the fact that an NBA backboard in 42 inches tall, and the top of the backboard is 13 feet high, and a little bit of photoshop on my computer, I was able to estimate that you could stack up 1 and 2/3 back boards above this. With dimensional analysis and addition, I was able to find that the peak height of his shot was 18.83 feet high, about the maximum height of a Giraffe!
I then put my three new values into a 3x3 and 3x1 matrix to find out what this function would be. I plugged it into my calculator, and got y= -.07x² + 1.6x + 9.5.
As Dirk is nearing the end of his career and the hall of fame, this gave me more appreciation for the legend.
note: some parts of this could not be fully accurate due to resources, such as the true heights and distances.

Did you round the coefficients of the function after the quadratic regression? It’s close but it doesn’t seem to contain the vertex or the “hoop” point you mentioned. It does contain the y intercept though. Good job btw I can’t imagine myself being determined enough to search up all those values. 😃
I should mention I created a function of my own using your y intercept, the vertex, and the force of gravity (ft/sec^2). First, I constructed a parametric position vector, with “t” being time (sec) and the “x” and “y” components defining how far and high the ball is. I integrated the acceleration vector twice and substituted your convenient values to do this. Finally, I solved for “t” in terms of “x” and plugged it into the expression for “y” to get it in terms of “x”. Unfortunately, like yours, my function doesn’t contain the “hoop” lmao 😂 .
y = -0.074x^2 + 1.67x + 9.5
I feel that it would’ve been beneficial if I knew the initial velocity of Dirk’s shot, but I guess I’m getting greedy.

This man wrote a whole essay with citations 😂
This man said. Fuck all that oppose me. You wanna bitch on Nowitzki and debate. open the CITATIONS BIYATCCHHHH. untouchable.
damn, I can't even write a single sentence on my essays
That one legged fadeaway carries all the way to his championship against the super team Miami.
Swept the Lakers with Kobe and OKC with 3 MVPs
@@zKMotion okc big 3 weren't mvps back then. Still impressive tho.
A legend, a hall of famer, and one of the most faithful nba player that played for one team. Will miss you Dirk!
“Changed the PF position forever” damn that’s on point
I always watch Dirk play when I was a kid so sad that he will be retiring soon : ((
lmfao bruh hes like 40 +
hes been around way back 2001-2004 with steve nash
and his lesbian hair those days was lit
Don't worry bud he's coming back for 1 more year
Oh, a Date a Live fan and Dirk appreciator, a man of culture I supose
The way Dirk takes and makes his one-legged fadeaway seems to be so effortless and so smooth. A lot of players are adding this move to their arsenal nowadays, but none will ever come close to the original. Long live Dirk!
2006-12 Nowitzki was a monster.
More like 2002-2011
It's actually from 2001 - 2014 he was putting up all-star numbers.
King Namo then his last few years of the league his body was just super tired after all those beast years
How many people would wanna go against the guy now middle aged? Lol. Not counting current professionals or NBA players.
The second most unstoppable shot of all time
Will Taylor what’s the first
GreyMirror Gaming Kareem’s Skyhook
This one legged fade-away is harder to guard than the SkyHook... Taller players with good vertical can easily block the SkyHook. Wilt blocked Kareem's SkyHook several times...
Think about it,,,
"Vertical with a backward Horizontal" is harder to guard than a "pure Vertical"...
@@jcliff8415 no...
# WeTheNorth tell me if it’s harder to guard a fade-away or a hook shot? u can contest more easily more hooks but when they fade-away they gain more space and their bent away so unless you have really long arms or high ass vertical you’re not contesting or let alone blocking it.
0:25 was ridiculous... Dirk will forever be one of my favorite players ever.
The Legend of Dallas!

When i watch the video i got goosebumps.
He is the reason why i love this game.
Legendary one-legged fade away.
Wurzburg, Germany, and the world proud of him.
The most underrated PF in NBA.
Top 6 in the scoring list.
MVP. Finals MVP. A champion.
21 seasons. 1 clubs.
Dirk Nowitzki 🇩🇪
Most underrated PF would be Kevin McHale. Dirk is underrated too though.
I don't know why Dirk get credit for that shot when it was the one and only MJ who created that shit🤦🏿♂️
Dirk was everything to us Dallas kids growing up, seeing him win that championship will forever make him the Dallas GOAT. Even over some legendary Cowboys
If he's the Dallas GOAT, wouldn't he be that over all Cowboys rather than just some? There can only be one GOAT.
@@DaveTheDopeFiend yeah some cuz not every Cowboy is at the GOAT status, only like 4 or 5 are
I implemented this move in my own game when playing ball at the park and even though I was a casual highschooler it helped me rack up points I otherwise couldn't have. I beat taller oppentents with it, beat smaller oppentents, beat big guys, fast guys, it didn't matter the move was so flawless against anyone I went up against. Thanks dirk
Dirk Nowitzki is one of the most amazing 7 foot basketball player’s I have ever seen. Certainly the most versatile 7 footer in terms of shooting. He can play in the post and take defender’s all the way out to the 3 point line and shoot over them. His stroke is pretty good too. I don’t think we’ll ever see another 7 footer like Dirk ever again. He revolutionized shooting for all big men both C and PF.
The one legged fadeaway is legendary.
One of the most underrated legends. Glad to call him my favorite.
Underrated???? Says who? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO
The 1 legged fade just looks so clean. You pull it off the right way and it's definitely something to stash in your bag of tricks.
Dirk will always be real legend for Nba
“Dirk shoots better on one leg than some fellas shoot on two”

Beautiful tribute; wasn't watching a lot of ball when he was at his best but it's great to have these reminders of what a talent he was.
Dirk is a legend! Wish I was alive for more of his career
One of the true revolutionaries the game has ever seen. Without him, how many big men would even think about shooting beyond the paint/ 3 point land? Dude changed the game like few others have
Larry Bird was already doing it before back in the 80's. Dirk is a legend too though.
His one leg fadeaway helped me in my basketball ball career from AAU to high school made me clutch I’m born in 1993 and growing up in DC dirk showed me a sweet shot fadeaway to create space I loved his game glad he gotta ring 💍 in the end he was a beast Legend All-Time Great and Greatest Maverick of All-Time and he top ten scorer of All-Time 🐐🏀💯‼️‼️‼️
Dirk thankyou for inspiring me to play with a heart! ❤️ DIE HARD FAN HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES🙌
Missed my basketball Idol so much! Still my all time favorite! Bleed blue here from Philippines!
Crazy sick edit! MAD respect for that! 🏀
Nothing but respect for the man and I remember when he won his first championship 8 years ago.
Dirk was the first to do it respect I'm still a fan that shit was amazing
Imagine someone who can do the fadeaway and the skyhook perfectly. He would be an absolute BEAST in the post!
As a white boy in the hood playing ball Dirk carved a path of my acceptance lol. I quickly became nicknamed Dirk which gave me great pride Icon indeed
My all-time fave! Hoping he'll be back next year so that I'd have the chance to watch him live. Pleaase.

A real pioneer of the game
Living Legend! In my opinion the greatest german athlete of all times and the hero of my childhood!
I love the traditions from dirk to other players in this... 🥲
One of the most beautiful signature shot in basketball.
The first time I saw him play I was mindblowned.
The man could shoot from anywhere
Dirk was the reason why I practiced high shots from a distance. Love that Man #41
I’ve tried it a few times. So awkward for me since I’m used to jumping off my right leg. Dirk makes it look graceful.
The league will never be the same without Dirk :(
this became my primary move as pointing forward in every game tournament in our streets and won most of it.
Aside from the insane fadeaway, his name is DOPE ash.
This shot was literally unstoppable.
This is art right here.
HE IS LEGEND
The fact that many NBA players copying his one legged jumper proves how deadly dirk's trademark also shows how NBA player respect dirk's ability.
This vid made me cry a bit
The one legged fadeaway allow you to shoot freely because one of your leg hinder your opponent to close in. Very well-thought shot
Those transitions gave me chills.
Most underrated player of all time. Offensive power house. Stayed loyal and got a ring. Did what no players do today. Stayed loyal to his team and on top of that was patient and got a ring with his team beating the original super team. Should have one against d wade in the first finals. Refs cheated but he got his revenge.
No one looked as good as dirk doing it
I love these nba players like lebron and kd showing love for the legend
Every tongue must confess
Every head must bow
He's the best PF
Goosebumps.
One of the greats.
