A long long time ago guys and girls used to get dropped off at Century III or a mall in your hometown to meet one another play arcade games, buy a slice of pizza ........buy the latest music at Camelot Music on cassette "singles" or records then CD's and buy some TDK 120 min. Cassettes to make summer mix tapes buy the latest clothes at Chess King ,County Seat,GAP, DEB, Hornes, Sears for your first socket set to work on your first car with your dad .....etc...interact with each other Real contact " Not Facebook style contact ..........not just starring at our phones" and making real lifelong friends .......The Dental office you were in I believe was called American Dental Centers they had offices all over Pittsburgh......Peace Matt Ross Park mall and this Mall were part of my childhood to adult life Keep Up the videos
Yeah tell me about it... sure wish things would go back to how they were in the day, instead of isolating us from others and this online internet crap like we have nowadays! I would rather meet-up with someone or my friends/homies in-person than via social media websites like Facebook and other shit!
Ace, you and Dan Bell are easily in my top 5 favorite channels! PS: I love the 1970s shopping musak at the end. Really takes me back to when I was being dragged around malls, Sears and Woolco's etc by my parents 40 years ago!
Wow....it must have been blocked off for a while! The main large store you're in that has both level entrance was a furniture store known as Kauffmann's furtinure Galleries.... at time of Closure it was Macy's Furniture Galleries....they sold things off before closure....but amazed to see that some things were never picked up! Mattresses and stuff still in there...crazy! It was originally Hornes until mid 1990s then i think it was Lazarus...then it became the furniture store....i wish i could remember the other stores that were there! been going since A small child! Also that UGLY BLUE GREY carpet used to be a deep rich red through the mall.
God it hurts to see the mall in this state. I live 5 minutes away and used to come down every weekend with my parents.Last time I was there they were down to the Italian Village as the sole storefront in the food court. The JCPenney is also barely hanging on as the only anchor left.
It's so depressing going inside this place. I spent a lot of time there as a kid. My brother and I would play super Nintendo and other video games at Sears while Mom would go shop. We would always visit the pet store but never got anything there. Our big treat was getting a new hot wheels car at KB toys. The food court used to have a Wendy's, Chick-fil-A, and an Arby's plus all of the usual food court stuff. Oh and the dairy Queen downstairs. I got to see Parkway Center Mall totally close up one store at a time. Mom worked at that PharMor when we were kids.
i worked there for 7 years.. believe it or not there is this secret area on the 3rd floor that is used for managment to iron their clothes, relax, etc. me and my old boss had to go in there to install wiring for a security cam..
I am a big fan of both Dan Bell's Dead Mall series and Aces Adventurers Dead Mall series. Thumbs up, guys! Keep those Dead Mall videos coming on You Tube!
your videos are awesome! thankyou for sharing them! i guess mall culture is going the way of the wind! it's a shame when the malls meant so many jobs for people and meant alot of good times for alot of teens awhile ago.
This is fantastic, I watched it twice so far! It brings back a lot of memories... this was the mall I went to growing up. I thought I was the only one who found this kind of stuff fascinating! Loved seeing the stuff left behind inside the store & dental office. Awesome soundtrack too ... love it ALL!!!
Love this... forgot this are existed.. I knew it was smaller than I remembered the last time I was there though. I want the Pepsi machine and one of the phone cases, believe it or not I still have that phone in one of my junk drawers lol.
this is the mall i grew up with! i used to go to the dentist here and get my hair cut here. and i did charity gift wrapping here. sat on santa's lap as a baby here. went shopping for back to school and xmas clothes. was a mall goth here. got caught shoplifting twice (once at 579, once at kaufmann's.) went in secret stairwells with some boy i had a crush on who worked at a cell phone booth. some kid i went to school with's dad had a booth too. i'm trying to picture where the hidden wing is. i wanna go!
As of late April-early May, they’ve now DEMOLISHED the wall separating the “hidden wing” from the rest of phase II, & has been replaced w/ plastic tarp (at least on the lower level), as seen on CIII Memories FB page. Supposedly it’s because a movie production’s filming some movie in there or something. Also the entire food court’s now caution taped off.
not that long, maybe 10. My wife and I bought furniture at Macy's furniture a year or two after we got married and that was 10 years ago. Also right after we got married my step daughter and I were in the Dokktor Pet and wanted a dog they had but it was $900. I would say 8 or 9 years it's been walled off
I was there today and heard mostly 80's, but also some 70's. "Let's Groove Tonight" by Earth Wind & Fire played while I took a video of the abandoned food court and hidden wing areas. I also took another video downstairs in the area near the comic book store, while "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama played.
The music at the end made me feel so peaceful and now I'm bawling. 😭😭😭 It took me back to before 9/11 could have ever have even been imagined, and when the economy was good and my dad was still alive.
I hope this mall gets all the stores back. I loved this mall. I’ll never forget how packed it was around Christmas time. Especially when there used to be the old Kaufman’s there.
I remember the walled off area having a book store, a sit down restaurant with a fountain in front of it, a hobby shop, cutlery world, radio shack & the anchor store was sears
oh ok...I that that Pet Docorx or what ever was called was next to where Champs is on 1....but you may be right....in the old days it had nicer lighting and more fountains
If they would of just kept this mall in atleast decent shape I think people would rather go here than down the waterfront and risk getting shot in a bad area like that. Its such a shame the owners were too cheap to keep this mall in running order.
Videos like this are why you have to be on the mount Rushmore of this genre. Read about your camera bag being lost. I hope you always keep these up. So much documentation wouldn't exist if not foe you.
Ups N Downs had the opportunity to make the "N" backwards so it would follow the name but they didn't take it and that saddens me a great deal more than this sealed off wing. Great video though. I absolutely love your stuff, Ace!
Wards, Hornes, Lazarus, and finally Macy's Furn. is what you are looking at. Did you go upstairs inside the Macy's? As my guess is you'd need a respirator up top considering it's been empty with a leaking roof for 7 years. Right in front of that wall there once was one of the very first Virtual Reality arcades back in 1994. You can kind of see it still next to the Lens Crafters with those black spiral columns.
I’ve walked this area of the mall - however it was still open at that time with stores. I wanna go back before they actually close the doors as this property is officially up for sale now
i recognize that part of the mall. that walling off must've been (relatively) recent. man, this video is depressing though, but mostly because i remember what CIII mall used to be...
I wish I knew about this wing before it closed, I'm glad at least I can see it this way. Also I'm glad I'm not to only one looking up videos on this mall today either lol.
If memory serves me correct, isn’t this the 3rd level? If it is there’s a door at the top that goes outside to the upper parking lot. When you came in the door on the right hand side was the door that went into a sprinkler room and inside there was how you would get on the roof.
Speaking of Crystal Pepsi; I actually liked it, maybe even loved it. Especially when they reproduced it this past summer (summer 2016), that was actually the first time I drank it! I like to call it liquid crystal meth! Sure wish they bring it back next year.
I would have suggested the Fashion Mall in Plantation, FL but they are actually in the process of demolishing it and actually doing something with that property, it was abandoned and dead for a while
When i used to work there a few years before it closed. a co-worker & I would sneak back there & check shit out. so much stuff left behind. boxes of old phone cases. etc.
I was at century 3 mall today had to see it for myself counted maybe 7 or 8 stores at the most that were opened and they were pretty grim looking at best

SurferJoe71 that rumor has been going around for years, but doubt it’s going to happen as their plans seem to be upon the new hospitals they are going to construct
If I every find myself homeless, I'll probably go live in the walled-off area of Century III Mall. Sort of like a modern day Phantom of the Opera.
Liked your comment purely for the Phantom of the Opera reference lmao.
Me too
Good luck he won't last very long

You can still do that, you know...
Ross park is at 100% occupancy! Its doing incredibly well.

Staindwolf94 Me too. I'm too young. I've never been behind that wall, but I do remember when the main concourse was full of stores.
It's so depressing going inside this place. I spent a lot of time there as a kid. My brother and I would play super Nintendo and other video games at Sears while Mom would go shop. I wanna see that too!

wow! its been that long that wing has been shut off almost tweny years!

Also right after we got married my step daughter and I were in the Dokktor Pet and wanted a dog they had but it was $900. I would say 8 or 9 years it's been walled off
1997 was just the last time that minimum wage was increased before it was walled off
I remember the pet store used to be right there
AWESOME! VIDEO! Love Century III! It's a goldmine! The Montgomery Ward wing is looking lonely.
I loved your choice of 80 s music! How appropriate too ! Point of No Return.
I miss this mall so much... :(
Jesus Christ. In 1996 I worked for $4.75 per hour.
They play music only in the dead closed section on the PA PAGING system. Its usually smooth jazz from 1988.
They actually mostly play the hits of the late 90's and early 00's. It is very sporadic though with which parts of the mall you can hear it.
I was there today and heard mostly 80's, but also some 70's. "Let's Groove Tonight" by Earth Wind & Fire played while I took a video of the abandoned food court and hidden wing areas. Always love the music. Nu Shuzz point of no return and Phyliss Hyman I can't take this feeling anymore.
So lucky! Thanks for the video! I've been wanting to see back there forever. I was hoping the old pet store wouldn't be walled off.
I hope this mall gets all the stores back. I loved this mall. I’ll never forget how packed it was around Christmas time. Especially when there used to be the old Kaufman’s there.
2:55 pepsi machine with old logo, how long has that wing been closed off?
ApexKilo 8 years.
It's been almost 20 years!
ApexKilo 2009
So sad. I can remember when this part was open back in the day!
I remember the walled off area having a book store, a sit down restaurant with a fountain in front of it, a hobby shop, cutlery world, radio shack & the anchor store was sears
there used to be a pet store on this side of the mall. they would let the dogs run around a bit
I want to see inside the old pet store so bad!
Rygamer100 Gaming And More! Got our cat there in '03. Unfortunately she was put down last year
oh ok...I that that Pet Docorx or what ever was called was next to where Champs is on 1....but you may be right....in the old days it had nicer lighting and more fountains
OMG SOMOENE REMEBERS THIS TOO! WHEN I WQAS 4-5 MY GRANDMA WOULD TAKE EM AND MY SISTER TO SEE THE PETS OMG OMG IM FREAKING OUT RN
Got the only cat we had that wasn't a rescue there. Sadly he's been gone a few years now too.
Thank You For Sharing This Beautiful Video Vlog
Holy shit! How did you get behind these? I've been wanting to go behind those for soooo long now!
just got lucky and a gate was raised enough to get behind it, risky yes, but whatever it takes to preserve these memories
Ace's Adventures u wasnt scared trespassing laws. Or it's not a big deal
How longs that been closed off?
Like why put all the $$ to block it off instead of fixing roof??
Katie Fine since 2009. The drywall is way way cheaper than repairing the roof.
“Century III Chevrolet. Lebanon Church Road, Pittsburgh! Minutes from the mall!” Every time I hear Century 3 that song gets stuck in my head. 😂
If they would of just kept this mall in atleast decent shape I think people would rather go here than down the waterfront and risk getting shot in a bad area like that. Its such a shame the owners were too cheap to keep this mall in running order.
WastedNRG415 absolutely agree
Lol "bad" area
The waterfront isn't that bad, that's an exaggeration. Now on the other side of those tracks I've seen some violent shit.
@@glaze3979 not really
@@faiththeunknownbeing8126 not really what?

Read about your camera bag being lost. I hope you always keep these up. So much documentation wouldn't exist if not foe you.
how did you get behind the wall?
At 7:34 mark the ramps had fountains on the sides at one point and they all made like a river around the area
Ups N Downs had the opportunity to make the "N" backwards so it would follow the name but they didn't take it and that saddens me a great deal more than this sealed off wing. Great video though. I absolutely love your stuff, Ace!

such a crazy change within 2 years
Thank you for the Great video
2:05 I remember getting my first pair of glasses at the lensCrafters back in the late 90s. at 9:16 is where the pet shop used to be.
I worked at lenscrafters 03 to 07
I’ve walked this area of the mall - however it was still open at that time with stores. I wanna go back before they actually close the doors as this property is officially up for sale now
thanks for sharing...and amazed you found a way to back there!
i recognize that part of the mall. that walling off must've been (relatively) recent. man, this video is depressing though, but mostly because i remember what CIII mall used to be...
I imagine by now this part is as savaged and wrecked as the rest. It's amazing what a few years of destruction, arson, and neglect did to the place.
I wish I knew about this wing before it closed, I'm glad at least I can see it this way. Also I'm glad I'm not to only one looking up videos on this mall today either lol.

I love that those phone cases are still there 2018
the Dentist office I believe you're in is American Dental Centers....my dad went there once in the mid late 1990s for something.
Love the crystal Pepsi photo
Where was that at? Didn't see it.
Crystal pepsi came out in 1993, 0:16
Actually, Crystal Pepsi came out in 1992 and discontinued in 1993. It was released as a limited run in 2016.
Speaking of Crystal Pepsi; I actually liked it, maybe even loved it. Especially when they reproduced it this past summer (summer 2016), that was actually the first time I drank it! I like to call it liquid crystal meth! Sure wish they bring it back next year.
Those photos at the start are amazing!
Great Video. The song starting at 7:15 to the end of the viido, where did you get it? Please let me know. Thanks
the song is in the description
Sweet interesting find!! Enjoying this one!
Keep up the Great work
USD 4.75 per hour!!! Jeez..times were cheaper back then....
How'd you get in and are you trespassing by doing this
I remember when this place was built. Prior to this we used to go to South Hills Village or Allegheny Center Mall.
I would have suggested the Fashion Mall in Plantation, FL but they are actually in the process of demolishing it and actually doing something with that property, it was abandoned and dead for a while
I remember the built in Wall seats in the lower right hand corner
Dan, thanks for this video. I grew up at Century III, and it's so sad to see it dying.
green97probe i am NOT dan bell
Pretty high praise though. Your videos are great Anthony.
This is Dan Bell. I have video of some dead malls you can use.
Awesome videos!! Keep it up! I love the vibes
How did you get into that area?
When thay closed off that part of the shopping mall why didn't thay remove the vending machine
They should just open that area up for an admission fee and save the mall!!!
WOW!!! I have forgotten that was the old dentist office. And other things that was there. Been some years since they blocked it off.
i went back there and your welcome that you got into the store i didn't shut the door and ill upload my video tour there soon
Thats not how we got in
i use to work there i had to take the freight elevator to get there
+Ace's Adventures I can't find it
can't find what
+PAelevators the door :p
Cool video and catching mall music :)
what music starts at 3:30? thanks, awesome video, keep it up. love these !!!! they are so cool
i asked the same ? lol
redbutterflynine "Living All Alone" by the late Phyllis Hyman.
+redbutterflynine It sounds like music from a bargain basement porno flick.
Bargain basement porno..In that case Phyllis wouldn`t have a..nevermind.
Hello To Everyone From California USA
Nice. Did you break in? That would be rad.
They tore the wall down now
knew every inch of that place. that was just down from the food court, in the only place where there were 3 levels
That blocked off part was where parts of Netflix’s mind Hunter were shot
When i used to work there a few years before it closed. a co-worker & I would sneak back there & check shit out. so much stuff left behind. boxes of old phone cases. etc.
I was at century 3 mall today had to see it for myself counted maybe 7 or 8 stores at the most that were opened and they were pretty grim looking at best
i think one of those stores was the old pet store. that was my favorite place to kill time while my mom shopped in other stores
yeah, Docktor Pet, forget how it was spelled
As of a couple days ago century 3 mall is in the early stages of getting demolished R.I.P
How did you get in there?! I go to the mall atleast once a week and would love to get in there!
That is the section down in the right-hand corner used to be a pet store called, " Dr Pet."
Can you tell me the name of the vaporwave track that starts at 3:34 please ? Is it perhaps one of Dan Mason's tracks?
I wondered why the mall seemed so much bigger on the outside in the inside...
Love the music from Lost Horizon lol
It was a beautiful mall. It’s in absolute ruins and has been condemned. Very sad.
do you ( or will you) ever come down south to visit the dead malls down this way? I live in Mobile, Alabama but I figure the malls up north are bigger and I imagine there are more than down here. not saying youre not interested in the malls down here, its a huge country and youre only one man.
I would love to, planing that now, just trying to raise funds to fly down there
+Ace's Adventures Go to Mall of the Mainland
is that underground funeral home they found the bodies left in, in mobile?
Good Retrowave cut
love your videos!
I like the music
I want that Pepsi machine.
They should auction it off in efforts to save the mall!!!
the mall is too far gone to be saved
was there still wood around the outside of that dental office
It's hard to believe that I used to one have keys to the old coffman's furniture store and used to work there when Kaufman's took it over they Shrunk the store that store is so huge you wouldn't believe it Hornes department store was the largest square footage anchor store in that mall
Cool video.
walling it off made the mall look less empty?
There's actually and entire FLOOR u didn't get access to. I remember when they made minimum wage from 4.75 to 5.15 in pa
How did you get back there you know someone from the mall
what song is playing when you go into the store that i presume was a dental office?
Hey! That was made by my producer nick, check out his soundcloud page, search dead malls
haha found it.. titled kauffmans! thanks
Who was the artist, is it on UA-cam ?
Just search d e a d m a l l s on soundcloud
OK ty :0), great videos by the eay
looks like they are splitting the mall into two parts?
Yes thank you
Beaver Valley Mall is definitely next to die. Plan on filming it for my channel very soon!
But the sad part is that will probably be never used again as a department store
n i c e
There's even leftover music from the '80's in there! :-p
Why is Century III the most 80s-90s sounding mall ever?
Update UPMC Hospital group supposedly purchased Century III mall !!!
I used to work for UPMC when I lived in Pittsburgh....
Not surprised.....
SurferJoe71 that rumor has been going around for years, but doubt it’s going to happen as their plans seem to be upon the new hospitals they are going to construct
No. They held a town hall in 2019 at ccac. Ppl were opposed
looks like Kaufmanns stored the fixtures from the main store in there
