I still can't believe that she is not part of Celtic Woman anymore, because she started a career as a soloist. Máiréad Nesbitt, the Tinker Bell of Ireland, I wish her the best of the best!!!
I attended the St. Patrick's Day dinner in New York City from the Midwest which is a preparation for the big parade on the 17th this last March. After the dinner was done and the coffee was passed around, Mairead Nesbitt danced around the room playing her violin. Well done and a lot of fun.
She wasn't known at all when I started playing at a young age. I'm 35 years old now, married with children. She is the reason I pulled it out of the closet and started playing again. I will never let life get too busy for my violin ever again. She has inspired this mom!
I LOVE Mairead...such a JOY to watch and listen to playing her violin.....wonderful talent and cute lady and love Irish music and the people!!! Bless you, dear!!
I love Mairead fiddling talents, just pure joy to listen and observe her dancing, also love the impish expressions she uses when playing jigs, just pure joy.
To my mind she is one of the ultimate violinists. She is so talented in playing many different styles of songs, and she can dance while she's concentrating on the music too
As a violinist! You sing and dance the violin its not just one instrument! As a scot with irish blood, if you can feel the rhythm emotion and dance you can play the best fiddle
Mairead's playing is a complete mastery of violin - launching dreams and setting the heart on fire... her beauty is so blazing I almost have to turn away, but so compelling I just can't..... chasing me through my dreams. Mairead, please let me go, no don't ever let me go, or stop playing your heavenly music !!!
The passion Mairead puts into this song is absolutely incredible...watching it just gives me chills. What an amazing performer. I am so glad I got the chance to meet her. She is just as sweet as she looks, folks. :)
I have been enthralled by Celtic Woman from their first show. I've enjoyed all of the performers but was particularly drawn in by Mearead Nessbits playing and energy. She is a briliant performer in her own right.
I keep coming back to this video - I am from the Shenandoah - nothing is more beautiful to me - thank you Máiréad Nesbitt, you give so much beauty to this lovely landscape
Mairead is just as good live. I remember my mother commenting that some Celtic Woman music made her want to cry. I remember thinking that during some of the more uptempo instrumentals, Mairead almost gave herself whiplash.
I've been playing for about 18 years and only in my wildest dreams could I play the beginning with so much control and intensity, and the end with such playfulness and ease..... This made my day :)
I have a violin that has been passed down to me it is at least a hundred years old. It is in perfect condition . It came to alabama on a horse and buggy. This makes me think i have to learn this.
Shenandoah is one of my all time favorite songs it is such a sad but beautiful song from days long ago. And this was one of the best versions of it I have heard.
Maired Nessbidd is the most beautiful and most talented violenist I have ever seen. She commands the stage with grace and elegance and brings you to a plase of excitement like I've never seen. She is true perfection at her craft. I just love her.
Every since I was little I have loved Irish music. When I found Celtic Woman, and her violin I fell in love all over again. This song has mafe me happy and made cry since I heard the guy sing it- the one who sang Danny Boy in 1964.
Shenandoah, has such a place in my heart. My choir was singing this song on the day my friend took his own life For me I was longing to see him, but now were separated.
Very gifted and talented really enjoy and appreciate your style you should be proud mairead nesbitt keep up the work best wishes to everyone at celtic woman you guys rock take care. Joe
You have no idea how beautiful she is until to meet her in person. I did at a NYC night club this past March.Right after their show at Radio City. OMG looking at her will make you lose your train of thought.
Absolutely beautiful! Love her style, her technique... you can not only feel the music flowing from within her as she plays, you can see it. It's in her face, her movements, she radiates compassion for what she does as she plays..
Music is invented to make the people happy, to bring joy to the people and Mairead Nesbitt is succeeding in this, thank you very much, you are a wonderful person!!!!!!!!
A Beautiful rendition of the American Classic! I recall learning this song for Choir when I was still in school, and it has remained a favorite of mine. Mairead plays so beautifully and without the words she conveys the message of love, loss and longing for home....
me encanta el sonido del violín.. ese instrumento que suena tan dulce, pero que a la vez suena tan desgarrador... tocando lo más profundo de nuestros corazones, llevándonos con su sonido a lugares inimaginables...
I love how she smiles as she plays that last note around 2:24. This is my absolute favorite song by her. Add Sissel to sing and this song would be absolutely even more beautiful
In case anyone is wondering, the (songs)(tunes)(reels) are Shenandoah( Slower; Intro), The faster section starts with The Cock and The Hen a.k.a Dennis Ryan's Slipjig transitioning into The Pacific Slope Reel. And if you are REALLY INTERESTED, like me, the Shenandoah is in Dmaj, The Cock in the Hen is in F#min, and The Pacific Slope Reel is in Amaj. Mairead Nesbitt is a fantastic player!
I played a trumpet and French horn. I LOVE music. I tried to learn the guitar and piano, but I couldn't figure out how to move my hands and fingers differently, at the same time. I don't have this gift, like this woman in the video has, and many others have. I wish did! While I can listen to music, I don't have the ear to play it. I can't "feel" music. I had to read the sheets to play it, and did it well. I played these instruments in a United States Army Band for 8 years. I can learn songs; memorize notes, but I wish I could "feel" it, when playing it. I can't improvise! I don't know how to play music like it's meant to be played!
+Michael Best Your not alone. I was fist chair trumpet every year I played, (five total Symphonic and Jazz) was All County, All State, (FL) Superior Medals in Solo and Ensemble Brass Quartet, Quintet, and Trio. If you took my sheet music away I became mediocre at best. Crazy!
+Iknowwhy 789 You have quite the story, and I'd love to know more about you. Thanks for letting me know there are people like you that can admit this too. Iknow...789, I felt like I couldn't fit in when others could just "play" (let it all out; feel the music; let the fingers do the walking...), yet I couldn't, even though I tried. My brain was wired in a different way. It didn't mean that I didn't understand music. I can, and LOVE music! I still, selfishly wish I had that "ear to hear" thing!
+Iknowwhy 789 I am 70 and for decades have ached from my capacity to produce music, due mostly to a mental block about reading notation. Please keep playing with all your heart, thankful that you have the gift to read music
+Michael Best as long as you play with your heart it will be good thats the most important lesson deep inside and let what you feel get to your fingers don't think about plaing feel it and as always trial and failure but it works i can't read music from a sheet but i can play it by ear and for that i am sad i wish i could read scores but only the simple ones so go for it we all love music and we have what ever talents we have and make the best of it
+Michael Best I play the piano (not professionally), I may tellyou that it takes a lot of effort and practice to be able to move your hands (and fingers) separately ! LOL
Thank you Mairead for all your hard work to be this good, and thank you for sharing it with the world. I know you have heard this many times before but NOT from me. You are most beautiful and gifted.
It's not just her beauty and talent that makes Mairead a pleasure to watch, but the sheer joy she has when playing her fiddle. If she ever left the group she would take a lot of the magic with her. I don't know if CW could survive very long without her.
I think if she left that would officially be it for CW. I think she's really the only reason a lot of people are still following them. Now that all of their best vocalists are gone, people better hope and pray Máiréad stays on, otherwise it's over.
An angel playing violin and dancing
one of the most beautiful songs ever written...
I still can't believe that she is not part of Celtic Woman anymore, because she started a career as a soloist. Máiréad Nesbitt, the Tinker Bell of Ireland, I wish her the best of the best!!!
Sadly, the girl they replaced her with, doesn't even come close.
well put into touring for like 10 plus years prancing about the stage night after night.... cant blame her for leaving
I attended the St. Patrick's Day dinner in New York City from the Midwest which is a preparation for the big parade on the 17th this last March. After the dinner was done and the coffee was passed around, Mairead Nesbitt danced around the room playing her violin. Well done and a lot of fun.

this woman is my idol, ever since i was a little girl i have watched celtic women. and mairead is the reason i started playing the violin.
+Morgan van Bavel same here!
She wasn't known at all when I started playing at a young age. I'm 35 years old now, married with children. She is the reason I pulled it out of the closet and started playing again. I will never let life get too busy for my violin ever again. She has inspired this mom!

I honestly don't get how she can play and dance on high heels. Gets me every time.
She a Little tinker bell who flys around playing the violin 🎻 she’s amazing ⭐️
To my mind she is one of the ultimate violinists. She is so talented in playing many different styles of songs, and she can dance while she's concentrating on the music too
As a violinist! You sing and dance the violin its not just one instrument! As a scot with irish blood, if you can feel the rhythm emotion and dance you can play the best fiddle
She is so very talented. I could sit and listen to her play the violin. I love all their music. So amazing.
Her performance is incomparable . 🍎
Whenever I can't figure out life because of all of its confusion and hardships, someone like this touches my soul and sheds light and strength.
Mairead's playing is a complete mastery of violin - launching dreams and setting the heart on fire... her beauty is so blazing I almost have to turn away, but so compelling I just can't..... chasing me through my dreams. I'd sure like to hope, that we can all agree, this is one talented and beautiful young lady.
Absolutely beautiful. Her vibrato is amazing!
The passion Mairead puts into this song is absolutely incredible...watching it just gives me chills. What an amazing performer. I am so glad I got the chance to meet her. She is just as sweet as she looks, folks. :)

Such beauty is in this song... The piano and the violin are the ultimate pair of musical instruments!

You can't but be over whelmed by her beauty & talent. I'm so lost in Máiréad, she could play any thing & it would sound fantastic.

Violin solo? I hear a piano in there. I knew it was coming. I saw David and Mairead do this piece a year ago. AWESOME!
I was taught how to play fiddle growing up by maireads mother. Two extremely talented women!
That’s really cool
Are you still playing as of now?
