Wonderful two videos. I’m about to do this on my 2002 Z3 Coupe. I’ve watched your videos several times. Bought parts. I think I’m ready now. Thanks to you.

Thank you so much for this video series!! 🙏🏼 These things almost always to intimidate and overwhelm me. Watching your video made it possible for me to tackle this problem myself!

The inner door card is easier to reinstall with the inner weather stripping attached to it. This makes it easier to get into the groove of the window and to properly seat the lock button into the hole. While I agree that the entire window may not NEED to come out, it seems like this may be good idea in order to clean the channels properly where the sliding clips go as well as to regrease them. Great video man.

That was great! You helped me see I too can do this. Did one side, took may 75 minutes and just stopped and started the video and magically I didn't break something and make it worse. Good news my window is working again!
    Thx!

    Great man!
Maybe there is an other way, too.
    1. To replace the 2 clips you only need to lower the window. There is a perfect opening where you can replace them by removing the 2 metal springs and push out the moving arms. BMW's repair set comes with some grease. Put a lot on the new clips (also in the middle hole) and replace the old ones. Also put some grease in the rails. Then push the moving arms in (the metal springs will make a "click" sound).
Last but not least just use silicon spray for the window tracks from top and bottom.
    2. Never ever push the door from top!!! The door is no scale! In worst case it will just bend or break!
    3. The inner water protection (plastic) needs to stay intact. This small plastic will ensure that the car stays dry. Use a thin cord to cut the bitumen glue and/or hair dryer to heat it up. Important: If it isn't sticky any more you need to replace it.
    4. Never open the 3 screws for the fixed window. You are not able to put the window back like it was before -> you would need to re calibrate both windows afterwards.
    5. If you really decide to remove the top inner and outer rubber lips then ... when you reinstall them ... don't push on the door (did I say this already?). Just use some soapy water on the rubber to make it slippy. This will help a lot. Use the same trick for the inner door cover.
    Hope this helps :-)

Put the inner door lip on the panel and THAN hang in back the panel with the lip on it. This way it works easy and you don't have to push it down with force or use any soap or water. That's the way it's in the BMW repair manuals, but even BMW guys often don't know about it and destroys your panels or squeeze it in! ;-)

Great job! how did you learn all this?

    Thanks man!
    1. Do you think this job is possible without removing the vapor/water barrier? The only area I think it may be required is the front bottom part to make sure the washers are in place after removing the bolt for the front window otherwise I didn't see that it helped with anything.
    2. When I replace the door panel I actually put the rubber part that sits on top of the door onto the panel then place the panel on the door. Thanks for showing me a different way to do it!
    3. Here is an idea for possibly easy preventative maintenance on a window before it goes bad. Maybe one could spray some white lithium grease or other lubricant into the window tracks where those plastic sliders sit before they get so degraded without removing the door panel if they can fit a spray nozzle into that area and have good aim. Thoughts?

Thumbs down because you skip how to install the clips which is all I wanted to see. The actual work not an explanation then a fast forward to the finished project.

It's highly unlikely that you can see the actual clip snap into place, BMW windows are an absolute pain in the bottom and the E36 coupe windows would not be easily visible.

I wish he had shown more detail about how he got the window re-installed. That's the hardest part, to me
