I grew up with these guys in the late 70s and early 80s they stand out above the crowd. Super great talent. Miss Ron Tabak's voice. God bless you all from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
I grew up in Vancouver also and I too was a young Prism fan. I'll never forget back in the summer of '84, I was selling ice cream in the PNE parade up Hastings street. Ron Tabak of Prism was in the parade on foot, waving (of course) and handing out Prism buttons. At one point as he passed by me, he gave me a little head shake and put a Prism button in the ice cream cooler I was walking around with. It likely meant nothing to him but I thought it was such a big deal at the time. RIP Ron
84? Hmmmmm must’ve been earlier than that because that’s the year he passed away and he wasn’t with the band. Actually, they were talking about getting back together.
@@juliebedford454 And if Rush had Tabac as a lead singer instead of Helium Boy they would have had more success than they could handle. Tabac had a great set of pipes, and they never sounded better than they do here. But you're right, the comparison is foolish.
I remember in about 2002 (when I was 20) I drove about 4 hours in a blizzard to see Prism in a small town bar in Saskatchewan... when I got there I was told they sold out of tickets... so I stood out in the snow for about 20 minutes listening at the door till the bouncer let me in. The deal was you paid for the ticket and you get a free beer, as he let me in he handed me the beer and I told him he could keep it... I was only there for one thing to see Prism. It was a really good concert.
I live a few blocks from Forest Lawn cemetery where Ron Tabak is buried in Burnaby B.C. Canada. Whenever I pass that place, I think of this video - great song - great band - RIP Ron !
I've never walked foot on Earth at the same time as Ron Tabak, but I got really into prism when I was ten. I was driving back home from Calgary the other day & this song came on the radio. I hadn't listened to it in a few years, & I was amazed how much more I liked it today. The lyrics & the tune just have such a tragic energy to it. It's almost like it was a requiem for Ron before he even died. Maybe I'm a little drunk, but I get a lot of enjoyment from Ron's whacko head gesturing & facial expressions.
My late bro was a high school buddy of a Canuck friend. He bought the Young and Restless album even though he was a new wave fan. He introduced me to the Canadian rock scene. Rush, Honeymoon Suite, Loverboy, Prism. Fun memories.
Fantastic song from a great Canadian band. This group literally cooked playing live and Ron Tabak was arguably the best Canadian lead singer of the day. I saw them open for Cheap Trick in London Ontario in 1979. One of the best rock shows I have ever seen.
I grew up in Vancouver and loved all the local bands that "hit it big": Loverboy, Prism, Chilliwack, Adams, The Headpins, etc. On Christmas 1984 I received a brand new ghetto blaster from my folks--I was 12, I guess. That night I had it tuned to 99.3 C-FOX when I heard the news about Ron Tabak's death.
1st album i ever bought with my own money made from shovellen driveways, Armageddon for 7.99 i believe at Records on Wheels..that Christmas my dad surprised me when he had picked up "all the best from prism" while in the city for a conference.young and the restless..take me to teh kaptin..spaceship superstar..terrific stuff..thanks for posting
Seen Prism in 1978 and I was sixteen in the Calgary Corral. One thing I do not forget about that concert was Ron only wearing one glove and I thought maybe there was something wrong with his hand or he lost that hand, but what a awesome concert.
prism , streetheart , kim mitchell , harlequin , toronto , rush , trooper , helix , frank soda , april wine , chilliwack , loverboy , the kings...you could go on all night long..the canadian music scene was a major player in my life..the late ron tabak and kenny shields of streetheart are my hereos..miss you ron..long may you entertain kenny
Wow this is a great song. I missed out on the early 80's music before and I enjoy this so much now. I had a copy of Your Like The Wind on 45, its lost now. Hope more of their music videos appear in the future. Thanks so much
The first time I heard Guns and Roses' 'Sweet Child of Mine' I thought I was listening to a Prism song I hadn't heard before. There is an amazing similarity between Ron Tabak's and Axl Rose's vocal styles.
Greetings from Vancouver. I have been hoping for a long time that this video would surface on You Tube - I am sooo glad ! Saw them perform this song in Calgary in the early eighties - if I remember correctly, we were all on acid lol !
Canada had some good bands back in the day...Prism, Harlequin, Trooper, Loverboy, April Wine, Streetheart, Rush... I'm sure I skipped a few, but these are the bands that stuck out in my mind for the same time frame - late 70's/ early 80's
As the band was preparing to record their next album in the summer of 1981, Tabak (lead singer) was fired. Various reasons cited were his conflicts with other band members, several run-ins with the law, lack of songwriting ability and his refusal to conduct interviews due to his stutter. Saw them live last year with Al Harlow as lead singer and they put on a great show!
oh thank you.. i'm not familiar with the group, still, thanks to that guy ron(r.i.p.)for that perfect voice on 'i dont want to want you anymore'. hope someone will soon post it here! tnx again, marlene!
I currently live near Ron Tabak's old neighborhood in New West. BC and have visited his grave in Burnaby at Forest Lawn Cemetery. There used to be a Prism CD plastic cover planted face up on his grave. I wouldn't be surprised that a souvenir hunter snatched it by now. Maybe it is time to go by again and see.
Way before their time. Hair metal sound before hair metal knew what it was. If Prism had of been a decade later they would have been international in addition to being Canadian icons.
@wheelzwheela A real Canadian woulda shotgunned the beer and demanded another for having to wait 20 minutes out in the cold!!!! Kudos for the drive though!
Surprisingly relevant song. "and the stand, and say I didn't know what I was doing..." Reminds me that we need to get RID of the Young Offender Act in Canada. Or the Criminal Youth Justice Act, or whatever name it is now. Damn Liberals.
Very underrated Vanc band. Never got their due.

Ron Tabak's voice ruled rest in peace Ron.
See forever eyes and flyin are my Prism favorites
Loved Prism when l was younger. Still love them in 2020!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the most memorable Canadian songs ever from the 80's. Prism, with Ron Tabac (RIP), was an iconic Canadian band.
I love this band but anything from Rush is more memorable.
Why even compare the two (Prism and Rush)? Appreciate both. And Ron Tabak’s voice was definitely memorable. - From a native Canadian 🇨🇦😊
@@juliebedford454 And if Rush had Tabac as a lead singer instead of Helium Boy they would have had more success than they could handle. Tabac had a great set of pipes, and they never sounded better than they do here. But you're right, the comparison is foolish.
briggsquantum; it's Tabak and Geddy Lee is a waaay better singer than you and most of the popular singers out now will ever be.
I definitely love this song people think It's too radical But it just How to stop being a victim And become a victor!

I live in Canada, so this is great for us............
High School was so much more better with these songs!
Perhaps, but it was up to the chicks getting into the same rock and roll man!
I live a few blocks from Forest Lawn cemetery where Ron Tabak is buried in Burnaby B.C. Canada. Whenever I pass that place, I think of this video - great song - great band - RIP Ron !

Opened up for them around 92. Darcy singing and Andy on keys. Still a great band.
What did you open up? Hope they liked it
I saw them with Darcy in the early 00s. It was decent. I was still filling diapers in their heyday 😏
My favorite album they put out, great music...but still really like:Take Me Away and See Forever Eyes
Still fits in today's mix !
I was a total Prim fan/ Have their Prism, See Forever Eyes, Armagedon & Young & restless LP"S

My late bro was a high school buddy of a Canuck friend. He bought the Young and Restless album even though he was a new wave fan. He introduced me to the Canadian rock scene. Rush, Honeymoon Suite, Loverboy, Prism. Fun memories.
So great to see them in video again! Saw them with STYX at Queens in Kingston back in 1979! Have most of their albums..
I love this song,,
You are not alone. Reminds me of being young and restless living in Calgary during the early eighties.

Saw this LIVE, got it on vinyl
Awesome! Great find. Wish there was more like this.

LOVE PRISM /MISS RON! :(
I played this song over and over it was Bret Hart's song when he wrestled with stampede wrestling.
RIP Ron and RIP Rocket Norton !!!
Oh..and LoverBoy.. and Pat Benatar and the 70's Jerry Doucette..he really rocked with Mama Let Him Play...
Way before their time. Hair metal sound before hair metal knew what it was. If Prism had of been a decade later they would have been international in addition to being Canadian icons.
