"if i could, i would let it go, this desperation, dislocation, seperation, condemnation, revelation, in temptation, isolation, desolation.." this is my all time favorite U2 song.
Wow, I have no words, except I will definitely not miss the next time I can see them live. Saw them on the Vertigo tour in 2005. It was a religious experience for me. So wonderfully fantastic!
One of my U2's favourite songs. Please note that at the minute 3:09 Bono incorporates to the lyrics one of the verses of the poem "And did those feet in ancient time" (a short poem of William Blake). This is as a tribute to Glastonbury. """Bring me my Bow of burning gold; Bring me my Arrows of desire: Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold! Bring me my Chariot of fire!"""
man don't be a weenie. bono is an absolute machine. the fact the he can consistently hit a c6 in concert after so many years is an absolute miracle. there are very few singers who even come close. so yah he might've had that "special something" when he was younger, but that shouldn't take away from what amazing singer he is today. i for one am so grateful as a younger u2 fan that there is still the opportunity to see an amazing rock show from such a legendary band.
With the endless covers of this, I get excited at every one of them and slight variations. Come back to Bono, Edge, Adam, Larry, there is just no other way this song can be. My most played song over the decades. Just the biggest song ever.
Love how Bono incorporates one of the verses of Jerusalem into Bad. Afterwards, he said it was a tribute to Glastonbury's historical significance - great touch from a class band!!
While I was born in 1993 the last year of Zoo TV, Long after Live Aid and Unforgettable Fire. One of my fav U2 songs, esspecially live is this one. People who truely follow U2's career know that this song is one of their greatest. Possibly the song that alerted the entire world to U2's existance, sure they played it for too long but it stil sent out shivers."to let it go, so not fade away",incredible. You can tell how well known this song is when the audience helps bono with the falsetto bit.
I love how Bono involves the audience in this song. He does NOT need help singing as some have implied, he can sing almost anything and CERTAINLY U2 songs!! I believe he genuinely wants to involve the audience in the feeling of the music, whatever the case it was performed beautifully.. yes, it's always been ONE of my favorites.
I Never been to any other concert but U2's I must say this if you go to U2 concert you will never go to no other concerts. They know how to put a killer shows.
so beautiful I love this..to let it go..would fade away..will bring you your arrows of burning gold..will bring you your arrows of desire..will bring you your spears..will bring you your chariot of fire..will take you home..will take us home..taking us home..I love you Bono, I love U2
Emotion man, Glastonbury is HUGE. It's the first time U2 ever played at it as well. It's hard to imagine at this stage of their career that they still get emotional about their shows but there is nothing quite like it. To have a career as long as theirs and play such an old song and still have people join in. That my friend is the most incredible feeling in the world. The feeling that your work is loved by others, whether it's effected their lives or not. Trust me, being on stage is incredible.
la lluvia, la voz de Bono a todo pulmón cantando "This desparation Dislocation Separation Condemnation Revelation In temptation Isolation Desolation Let it go And so fade away To let it go "
i die one day but i see this u2 song live,,in lisbon 15 may 1993 i was 14 years no i have 33 but this is my band and my boys,,my life u2,,love from Portugal..paul
Wow, it still works. For me, at least. U2 should listen to this song and think, "we really need to get back to that place." Not in the sense that they should copy their old sound, but in the sense that they need to recapture that feeling. Minimalism, power, beauty.
Hmmm its fantastic like always. Guitar is fantastic, vocal is fantastic, bass is fantastic drumms are fantastic, audience is fantastic, performance is fantastic and SONG IS AWESOME and also fantastic :) Great, great band!
I have to admit i grew up more as a pearl jam/cure/ nirvana/rem fan, but after being too a few concerts i can honestly say that the best band ive ever seen live is u2. I did love pearl jams live concerts, and the early years of nirvanas also , but in terms of just an out of this world epic feel to the show, u2 is the only band other than pink floyd that ive felt that.
Definately agree Shane.. Top 3 gigs i've EVER witnessed are 2"s 89' Lovetown tour, this last 360 tour was seriously close, closely followed by 'the cure' last yr at Sydney Opera House. 3 and a half hours of awesomeness
Too long??? Was over too soon!! Beautiful song, I've always loved it! No one can sing like Bono! No one can play like Adam, The Edge or Larry~ It's why they're the greatest!
1:57 - 2:02 he was nervous about being able to hit that note. You can see where he made the distinct effort to slow down and get his breathing right. The irony is that getting nervous about it is so counterproductive. Which is why he only did it one time and then didn’t do it again.
Is it just me or has Bono fucking nailed this song. Bad seems to work its best at festivals etc. Live Aid = HOLY FUCK Glastonbury 11 = HOLY FUCKITY FUCK!!!!!!
Well he still can put energy in the live versions :) Try this one: watch?v=5XRUmLRJgKU I think he sing alot more emotionely in his later years, a more sad sound. Something he wasnt able to do in the 80s/90s. Just listen to Miss Sarajevo from the Clinton show, when he hit the high note he does it with so much passion. A passion 80s/90s Bono wasnt able to get in his voice.
Bono's voice is actually quite good here. I came here to check it out after listening to old 1980s versions. Is it difficult for a singer who often sings falsetto to preserve that range ? Jimmy Page's declined very quickly, in his mid-20s I believe. And awesome that he worked in Jerusalem....
they played a song that only contains two chords for over 12 minutes. Bono himself knew and admitted that he took it a little too far. It wasn't a bad performance but the song was played for too long. Read my full comment again. I said that it was still a magical live aid performance but it was too long. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. It is a great song but it's not meant to go that long. That's what you'd expect in a Pink Floyd song.
"if i could, i would let it go, this desperation, dislocation, seperation, condemnation, revelation, in temptation, isolation, desolation.." this is my all time favorite U2 song.

quite a stunning version....amazing that the crowd knows the words even though its an older song in the catalogue. Cheers to them!
Prob one of my favourite versions
With the endless covers of this, I get excited at every one of them and slight variations. Come back to Bono, Edge, Adam, Larry, there is just no other way this song can be. My most played song over the decades. Just the biggest song ever.
Been my fav song since it came out and I've never tired of it, I listen to it every week still !
Love how Bono incorporates one of the verses of Jerusalem into Bad. Afterwards, he said it was a tribute to Glastonbury's historical significance - great touch from a class band!!

Well stated, young U2 fan. It's ridiculous trying to rank these songs but this is one of the most important songs they've performed.
Well said !!
Bono has such a seductive voice, intriguing lyrics,i always get the feeling its not quite about what they say its about
Definately agree Shane.. Top 3 gigs i've EVER witnessed are 2"s 89' Lovetown tour, this last 360 tour was seriously close, closely followed by 'the cure' last yr at Sydney Opera House. 3 and a half hours of awesomeness
Yes! Lovetown was awesome. Congratulations 👏👏👏

@Swan269 Its even better because the crowd isnt even all U2 fans and they still know the words!!!

I would love to know how is Bono doing? If i could get an up dates would be great. Thanks
Name one version from ZooTV where Bono hits Wide Awake like he do in 4:21 on this version.
@Stephenkahn1 Honestly I think U2 Bad\The First Time Live Dublin 1993 is the best version. (just youtube it)
Well he still can put energy in the live versions :) Try this one: watch?v=5XRUmLRJgKU

You can tell how badly Bono wants to go out into the crowd
Ok Man
- Guns 'N Roses first versione
- U2
- Queen
@coolmusicization nahh, live aid
Its weird how Bono couldn't do the falsetto here. He could do it fine at most other concerts from that year.
@Hanzey666 That version is awesome, but the Zoo TV Washington version is still loads better.
I wish I was Irish.
1.Pink Floyd
2.U2
3.Powderfinger
2:30 .... sure???

Jimmy Page doesn't sing, so not sure where you got that.
Glastonbury 2011 must have been pretty huge. I'm pretty sure Radiohead did a secret gig. better than all this kanye you get nowadays
I think it was muse on Friday, Coldplay on Saturday and U2 on Sunday. I would've loved it
U2 PLAYED FRIDAY BECAUSE OTHER COMITMENTS

he is not singing, he is talking. Pity he lost all his energy and voice. I go back and listen the 80's live version
