A handsome face, a winsome smile, excellent grasp of melody and laya - what more does one need to attain stardom? I was transported to the 1970s, when, growing up in Delhi, I used to often hear Late Pt Nikhil Banerjee. Soumitra Thakur is the 21st century avatar of the great maestro, it appears. Thank you, Ranjani Memorial Trust, for introducing this fabulous artiste!

His music is meditative and the speed at which he played was really great. The correct word is meditative.

Nikhil Banerjee, such a legend in my opinion, nikhil ji was greater musician than Ravi Shankar.

The demanding and rigorous training of his sitar shows up well.

Though the sitar player has played the raga nicely, the echo has created unnatural sound which is not of his sitar if it is heard properly using the digital amplified speakers. i humbly suggest that these artificial amplification or echoing please be avoided to retain the purity of sound in classical music. i have heard this raga in the rendition of pandith nikhil bannerji, budhaditya mukharjee, ustad shahidji. All have played marvellously without using these artificial technincs.
