    Thanks for fabulous video ---was just about to send car to garage as I didn’t know how to deactivate the electronic braking mechanism. Well done for such a clear comprehensive explanation. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

    Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Nice job! I will be replacing my rear pads and rotors.
    Update: changed rear pads and rotors on 2017 evoque with no problem. No scan tool needed. Although my car never did say that it was in maintenance mode when I used your method to disengage the parking brake it worked great. Took off elec brake motor on each side, used a pair of pliers to gently turn the gear and was able to press the caliper piston back in easily with channel locks. My rover dealer wanted $1100 to do this. I did it for $200, Autozone. I didn't have to replace the wear sensor as it was not wore down enough yet, just cleaned it up. Thanks for your video.

      @@captnjerry4950 Thank you! I ended up getting it thankfully lol. I have had a bad experience with EPB in the past on an F150. I pumped the brakes prior to releasing the maintenance and as soon as i released the maintenance mode it destroyed the EPB and the caliper.

      Hello, the rear callipers are locked, you need to engage the maintenance mode to let the piston wind back - you could remove the motor and push them back however risk damaging the motor this way

    Have you heard of the gawd-awful howling noise that newer RR-Evoques make when going in REVERSE after sitting for a day. Its a resonating noise that's really loud and makes your teeth rattle and the neighbors all wonder what kind of junk is making that noise? It's almost if the pads are dragging on the rotors. I also wonder if its because the OEM pads don't have any chamfers (bevel) on them and they don't have any brake-quiet fluid on them either. Is it possible that the parking brake is slow to release and drags while immediately going in reverse? Aftermarket pads have chamfers on them to reduce noise.
    Its a very common complaint. Do you know of it and have a solution for it? Thanks.

    • @FIXitBUILDitGARAGE
      @FIXitBUILDitGARAGE  3 роки тому

      I think I know what you are talking about, if I place the Evoque in reverse and then into first and pull away I get the grinding sound sometimes from the front end. I thought it was the pads, which have been replaced and still present, wondering if its the coil springs at fault now so planning on swapping them out with new ones in the new year as stating to blister. However I think its more likely the gearbox, which I have no plans on pulling out anytime soon. Maybe I will replace the gear oil, in the new year... found if I full lock left in reverse, then shift into first and full lock right when pulling away, basically turning around in the middle of the road it always makes the noise and can feel it in the steering wheel 🤔

    • @deansimpson6618
      @deansimpson6618 3 роки тому

      @@FIXitBUILDitGARAGE The noise appears in the act of reversing only. It has nothing to do with reversing and then into first and driving away. It happens while simply going in reverse after the vehicle has sat around for a day.

      In that case i would suppect discs or pads, or both, check your discs for a lip, could be catching pads. States on them the min thickness but the old method, place a penny on the disc and if the lip is still higher, swap them out. I always remove my handbrake before pulling away as it wears your pads down faster leaving it on when pulling away 👍

      @@deansimpson6618 hello mate, just wondering if you found a fix for the noisy brakes when reversing. I have the exact same problem as what you described. Only happens after the car has been parked for a day or more. I was going to start with a new set of brake pads and if that doesn’t work I’ll change the rotor too. But thought I’d ask you first in case you found it to be something other than the brakes. Cheers

      Hello, on this car no but need to do the rear wheel bearing asap on this evoque, may film it if able to spare enough time - process is very similar, fronts maybe easier as your can turn the knuckle to get the CV shaft out, on the rear you need to half remove it.

Pls I loosed and removed the two back brake callipers to compress them as the new pads wasn't entering, after fixing them back and bleeding, the brake pedal goes flat at first and comes a bit hard after several pumping but still goes flat when left for few minutes, had tried several means of bleeding, even changed the brake master and ABS Module but still having same brake failure.
