I know a few women who have the newer Victorinox Companion. They love the nail file, scissors, bottle opener and they all really love the package opener. 1 said that they don't even use the knife since the package opener works so good and the corkscrew saved her nails, getting out knots in rope or shoe strings. The 3 available versions made them excited to get them to match clothing.
@Spanky8402 - You know I never considered that the bottle opener would be great for knots? That lady is on to something! I will say you're right about the newer models; while I prefer the iconic red, it is fun to get colors that match outfits!
@ElegantlyEDC Even though I Typically carry all Green EDC, every so often I carry a red Victorinox. My Victorinox Super Tinker has Green Micarta scales and that's my daily carry. After seeing how easy the Corkscrew gets a extremely tight knot out, from a woman friend of mine, I might be changing my mind on Corkscrew vs Phillips.
@ That's fun; you have a very curated set of EDC gear in all green. I agree with you, your friend has changed my perspective on the corkscrew vs Phillips head.
Wife and I both loved our midnite manager@work models when we were teaching. Solved almost any problem other than all of the dry erase markers being dead lol
I carried a Midnight Manager for many years and really liked it. The Phillips screwdriver is excellent and works very well with number one and two Phillips screws unlike Victorinox’s two dimensional screwdrivers which only work on screws that require the very lightest amount of torque. The scissors are great and the selection of tools is very useful. Looks like they must have improved the brightness of the LED by the time you bought yours. Mine was only really useful at illuminating a doorknob to see where the keyhole was. I also found the blade too small for many of the tasks I needed it for. Too small to slice an apple or other picnic tasks. Only really useful in my opinion to open boxes or cut string. That is one of the reasons I switched to an Alox Bantam which has a blade which is just large enough for the tasks I usually need it for when I am out and about, and a Swisscard Nailcare edition. The other reasons being that I can fly with the Swisscard and that the two of them together are slimmer in my pocket than the Manager.
@brucehorn7600 - The Phillips head screwdriver is excellent for its size, and shockingly so! The LED light is great for little things like rummaging around in my purse, looking for something between the seat and console of the car, and illuminating locks on the door, as you said. I like my LED light in a pinch, but I do have a separate, very bright flashlight for most other things. I do wish it was TSA-friendly like the Swiss Card, but alas...it stays home if I need to fly. The size of the blade on the Midnite Manager is excellent for my needs, but I only use it for packages and things of that nature. It sounds like you're more of an outdoorsy person, and I agree, the blade may not hold up to those types of activities, but it works great for me in the suburban jungle! If I need a blade for more significant projects, I have my SAK Climber or my Civivi Elementum, but it's rare that I need either of those. Thanks for watching and commenting!
That's a solid choice, dude. My wife is set up with a custom Classic on her keys and a tactical folder clipped to a purse pocket. She doesn't use the toothpick. Sometimes uses the tweezers. I have to admit that she might use the light enough more to make the extra thickness and weight worth the trouble.
@Smaug1 - It's nice to hear about another lady using a Swiss Army Knife! I prefer using compact, slender SAKs, but if she is using her tools regularly, then a bigger SAK is definitely the right choice! Maybe I'll get myself a custom one in the future!
@donaldcarr8766 - My climber model has the tweezer and toothpick in it. Admittedly, the flashlight on the Midnite Manager does not produce the same lumens as a separate, designated flashlight would, but I like having it nonetheless.
I've seen several people in the comments ask about the Mini models, especially the Mini Champ. I really like the tools offered by that particular model. I'm not too familiar with that one, besides reading about it, but if I buy one in the future, I'll be happy to review it!
I bought the basic manager for my wife when she was first promoted to manager. I thought the torch was a bit useless and added too much bulk. Having heard a review from a lady's perspective perhaps I chose wrongly! It's still a fantastic and extremely compact little multi tool.
@71simonforrester - What a sweet way to commemorate a promotion to manager with a SAK of the same title! The Manager is a close cousin to the Midnite Manager; You still picked a pretty good one! How often does she use hers? Does she still like it for everyday use?
Great video - really clear, well presented and with a thread of humour. I've got the normal Manager (tweezers instead of the light) and it comes in handy almost every day and disappears into my pocket.... although I'm a man so I do get proper pockets!
@stevenhodgson834 - Thank you, I really appreciate the positive reception! I use any of my SAKs daily, although I am biased towards my Midnite Manager, haha! I miss the tweezers, though; my Climber model has that instead. Women's fashion has yet to catch up to men's pockets, but in the meantime, I like that Victorinox has smaller options for us ladies to work with.
I am very much into EDC and I have two recommendations that I think you will love one of them is the Fenix ECP torch/power bank. I have that and it's brilliant because it's a powerful battery bank and also a very powerful torch within a small design with the strobe option. It's absolutely worth it and is very high quality. The other one is the victorinox mini champ alox version. That is tiny I wear it on my keychain and many useful tools, even a nail file and it's package opener is fantastic.. It is also very cute and beautiful. Sometimes I just take it out and open the tools and look at them. 😅 It's really is beautiful. Go for the silver version because that way the colouring won't rub off. It's 2 years old I'm still looks like brand new on my keychain
@andrea-dawn - Those are fantastic recommendations, and I will be sure to check them out. I've seen many people recommend the mini champ alox version specifically, so much so that I've got one in my cart online! I appreciate the heads-up about the silver version. I absolutely love that you mentioned just opening the tools to look at them and admire them; I do the same thing!
@@ElegantlyEDC The alox minichamp is not thick either, the scales are slim. I stay away from the plastic scales as they are chunky and unfortunately scratch and get damaged easily. I have a number of Saks, a hunter, a pioneer x alox, a ranger, the minichamp alox and the army issue one. The minichamp alox looks even better in real life. It's like a jevellery. If you get that in silver, you will know what I mean. 😉 I actually bought it for my boyfriend, he wears it, but I want one too, it's so good and fancy if I had a backup gift, I would have kept it for myself. 🤭When I first opened it, I was constantly looking at it, kept it opened on my table.
@ I must confess, I have personally held off on obtaining a SAK with scales because I was worried (even though I know Victorinox makes quality stuff) that the scales would break off or feel cheap. But by reframing it as a piece of jewelry, I can see no higher compliment for a woman's SAK. Thank you for commenting and sharing!

Great video 👍🏻 I agree, the Midnite Manager is a great sak for women. But I think the Alox collection can also be a great choice: I bought a yellow Pioneer X (2023) for my wife, and she loves it 😊 I carry an Alox Cadet at work (office environment), and several female colleagues were surprised by it, finding it cute and useful (especially the file 😁). Same for the Alox Minichamp that I carry as well: very women friendly!
Thanks for sharing; very insightful! Have any of your coworkers been inspired to purchase a SAK for themselves, especially after seeing the Alox Cadet? I've seen a lot of people recommend the Alox Minichamp as well; it's truly a fan favorite!

@ I don’t think so, or they didn’t tell me. But after seeing me open a coffee bag with the Cadet in the kitchenette, another colleague told me that she had a Compact in her drawer, "just in case" 😊
@donaldcarr8766 - That's true! I've seen people open the bottle opener or the nail file tool to make the pen a little bit longer. For me, I'm comfortable with it either way.
@OliveHugh2 - haha, thank you! Someone in the comments informed me about a little sub-community of Swiss Army fans who mod their knives. If done correctly, the keyring could become a tool! Unless I modify mine, my headshake is still in effect! lol
as an EDC guy for years, i've bought myself (first) and my girlfriend (later) the 65mm victorinox nail clipper. combined with the nitecore tube (also a gift from me to her lol) she's pretty happy about them as a combo. she carries them everywhere
@donaldcarr8766 - I've seen a growing fanbase for the Swiss Cards, so much so that I would love to talk about them on the channel. Do you have one in particular that you like?
@ElegantlyEDC The Swiss nailcare card is the newest and TSA friendly for those that like to travel also as mentioned combines well with alox models providing the additional tools.
Glad to have found your channel. The SAK line is on my list of EDC and collectible knives. I enjoyed your selection of Victorinox knives from the tiny manicure model to the midnite manager (that is on my list) I lean toward the models with the corkscrew. Thumbs up and subscribed
I Really, Really Really enjoyed your video! It was very well presented from a woman's perspective. (as a guy, we sometimes over-look the other side of the coin) (Yes, admittedly, we can be Neanderthals) I would love to see more women carry SAK's. They are so incredibly versatile tools! I never leave home without my SAK. It was my Grand Father's and I cherish it..and yes, I have had to use the cork screw;
@johnduffy6546 - I'm really, really, really glad that you enjoyed this video! I've encouraged sisters, friends, cousins, and just about anyone else I know to invest in a SAK- I would love to see more women carrying them, too! SAK's are just so useful! I think it's sweet that you have one that's been passed down to you. It's truly special to have one that already has a story; thank you for sharing that memory in the comments!
Skipped the “getting the hang of things” part of channel ownership and right to “polished, precise, and prim presentation”, huh? 😋 I’ve been using and loving the Midnite Manager for about 8 months now. It has saved me in a pinch more times than I can count, especially the pen! Thanks for mentioning the SR1130W batteries specifically! It’s not too obscure of a spec to find if searched for, but a lot of reviews don’t mention it and I appreciate you spending the extra breath to cover a new owner. Keep at it! This is awesome work!
@Digspig - Oh, believe me, my team and I are still getting the hang of things on this channel, ha ha! I appreciate the kind words about our production quality. It's funny that you mention the pen being a lifesaver because, for me, the pen is also the best tool on the Midnite Manager. You never know when you need a pen until you need it! As for specifying the battery in the video, I'm glad that it was helpful!
Love your video. I carry SAK everywhere in the bush. Soldier model. When I was a soldier way back in 92 we got issued a Farmer model SAK we used for everything. Excellent thanks and hi from New Zealand 🇺🇸 🇳🇿 (ps I did a video on SAK’s if you would like to check it out)
@shawnashley4938 - I love how everyone has their own personal model that they absolutely love; I think that's neat about the SAK fans. May I ask about what makes the camper so special to you?
@elegantlyedc it was the first KAS I bought with my money. I do wish it had pliers and a Phillips. But for the most part it covers everything I need. I’ve definitely used every tool on it more than once and if it had those other two tools i wouldn’t have to look for my leather man. lol
Excellent review, though a dedicated keychain flashlight, that's rechargeable, perhaps paired with the now-discontinued Manager (or Signature) would have a bit more utility because the SAK light is fairly basic, especially when most will use their phone to better effect. The SD Classic is still a great choice and an always-useful toolset, however that SAK combi-tool is an incredible Phillips screwdriver for its size.
@Probeionic - I'm in the same camp with you when it comes to a dedicated flashlight. I use the RovyVon Aurora A3, and I've got family members who use the Olight S1R II. I do like that the Midnite Manger has a flashlight in case I forget to bring my A3, but it's not built to be the brightest or have the longest run time.
@jorgerosero1745 - Yes, I did! I can use the pen comfortably both ways. Though I guess it would have been better to model the pen function with the tools fully extended, ha ha!
@BiteSizedEDC - The black models are super sleek looking...but I just can't give up that iconic red! The Swiss Card is an awesome tool too. I like like how compact it is.
@@ElegantlyEDC nah specifically those huge ones that have like 80 tools in them or whatever. Sure, it can do it, but its not going to be good at it. Like imagine trying to turn a screw with a driver thats wider than it is long.
To bad they are discontinued. Can only find 2nd hand now. Vagabond is the all around 58mm smaller than mini champ with everything one will actually use.
@otis3357 - I found mine, which was brand new when I bought it, on Amazon! I like the Vagabond as a runner-up to the Midnite Manager. Unfortunately, the Vagabond doesn't have a pen or flashlight, though.
@phaserrifle3 - on the flip side, Leatherman products are hard to give up. They are quality pieces of kit too. For as long as I can remember, my dad has had a Leatherman on his belt.
@@ElegantlyEDC my dad carried one too - I inherited it after he passed, so it's a bit special to me, and it still graces my belt/pocket on the occasion I'm doing something that warrants a full size multi-tool.
@ How sweet! It's nice to keep our loved one's legacies alive, even with something so small as a multi-tool. Sincerely, thank you for sharing that memory.
@@ElegantlyEDC the good thing is the ones that fit on your keyring we have used them in bars and restaurants in Scotland where everything illegal and nobody around you bothered it doesn't look like a weapon
For my purposes, I just don't get much use out of scissors that small. Granted, I am not your primary focus for this, as a man who works in a library, but at that size, I get as much utility out of just cutting things against a hard surface with the knife as those dinky flimsy scissors. Otherwise, I completely agree with you about the lack of usefulness in the utility of the "legacy features" like a corkscrew, an awl or a "parcel hook", which are all at this point in history so niche that if you actually need them, you probably own a dedicated tool already. They're like how on "big knives" they add a completely useless poorly-tempered glass breaker or a bottle opener you'll use MAYBE twice a year. Multi-tools adding tools that are either out-dated or were never useful just to keep the feature count up or for "tradition" are a pretty big pet peeve of mine. This tool seems perfect for your use-case, though, for sure!
@mikececconi2677 - The scissors are quite small, and I totally understand if they're not your cup of tea; I only use the scissors myself for small things. To your point about tradition and legacy features. I love a small piece of history here and there, but you are absolutely right, the outdated features just get in the way of the tools that I need for the here and now. I almost want one that's "historic" for display only, and then have a separate "everyday" one ready to go in my pocket. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!
Ooh, pretty near perfect presentation, but you didn’t show the use of the pen by extending the Phillips head/bottle opener as a stabilizer. But I agree, this is probably the best multi tool for most women I know 👍
@ManoliKvideos - For me, I'm comfortable using the pen function both ways; stabilizer out or not. Though in hindsight, I didn't do the Midnite Manager proper justice 😭😂
@vladspb_ -- The Rambler and Classic SD are thinner for sure, but I like the premium features (the flashlight and pen) that the Midnite Manager has. Depending on how you want to carry your Swiss Army Knife, I can see how the thickness of the Midnite Manger is a valid concern.
@@ElegantlyEDC well, I had MiniChamp, but it seemed to me too thick and I changed it to Rambler. As of right now I am thinking of bying MiniChamp alox.
@dvdaltizer - That's what my thoughts were too! I learned this from another commenter: apparently, there is an underground community that mods and finds new ways to make their Swiss Army tools do so much more, including the keyring!
I'd recommend a regular manager, Minichamp, alox Minichamp and rambler. Which are what I would recommend to anyone. I myself cycle between my alox Minichamp, rambler and manager. I don't recommend victornox's flashlight models. A small triple AAA flashlight works great with my recommended swiss army knives and is better then those button battery flashlights.
@zackezzo2636 - I totally understand why you wouldn't recommend SAKs with the flashlight function; after all the lumen output isn't nearly the same as separate designated flashlight. However, I think the Midnite Manager is a great way to ease women into the EDC lifestyle because it combines many tools that they're likely to use into one gadget. I think its a great start until they're more comfortable branching out and looking for other gadgets that better suit their needs and are in accordance with where they are in their EDC journey. Still, I appreciate you sharing your valuable insights.
Is it just me, or does the whole premise of “a Women’s multi-tool” seem sexist? As though the assumption being that a woman couldn’t use a man-size multitool, or wouldn’t need as practical a tool as a man would carry? And the phrase, “But most women are not going to need most of these tools”, really has a patronising sting. And then you see the “best tool for women” chosen and, of course, it’s one of the models that sports a kind of Micky Mouse main blade, because, obviously, most women would feel intimidated opening even a medium size main blade. (That was me being sarcastic). Now -also being honest here - it’s my experience that a lot of women are intimidated by sharp objects, and especially knives. However, I think this is entirely a nurture/nature issue. Women are brought up to think that it’s womanly to be wet about practical things, unless they’re raised in an enlightened environment that empowers them to get stuck in and enjoy the practical pastimes that so often women are deprived of experiencing as they develop.
That's a fair question! Sometimes, I think it can be sexist, and other times an asset. In this case, I feel like this particular multi-tool celebrates Victorinox's engineering with the female audience in mind. It fits comfortably in my smaller, feminine hands. My channel is not designed to draw a line in the sand and encourage a mindset of, "women can't do something", or "women can do something". But rather, I wish to draw attention to items that may be helpful in certain situations. Thanks for commenting.
@ Yeah! I thought it was a fair question worth answering 👍 I'm no Nostradamus, but hopefully my response was able to highlight the reason I post the kind of content that I do!
Just watched your review of the Civivi Elementum. To quote Bill Hogan, “Now, THAT’S a noif!” It’s on my wish list. A great knife at a reasonable price.
What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments if you think the Midnite Manager is the perfect SAK for women!
I bought a midnight manager for my wife in 2005. It's older than 2011. I don't think she ever used it.
Awesome information on a great tool, my SAK of choice is the Huntsman. Thanks for sharing.
@harunomiya - Another excellent choice! That's the model inspired by the original Officer's Knife, right?

@ That's good to know- especially about the TSA friendly model. Thanks for sharing.
Glad to have found your channel. The SAK line is on my list of EDC and collectible knives. I enjoyed your selection of Victorinox knives from the tiny manicure model to the midnite manager (that is on my list) I lean toward the models with the corkscrew. Thumbs up and subscribed
@Wcquick - Thank you so much; I really appreciate it. Since you enjoy SAKs, may I ask which one is your personal favorite?
@@ElegantlyEDC the Waiter model for EDC
I will have to check that one out!
I Really, Really Really enjoyed your video! It was very well presented from a woman's perspective. (as a guy, we sometimes over-look the other side of the coin) (Yes, admittedly, we can be Neanderthals) I would love to see more women carry SAK's. They are so incredibly versatile tools! I never leave home without my SAK. It was my Grand Father's and I cherish it..and yes, I have had to use the cork screw;
Bring Top Gear back!
@caitlin68285 - I miss it so much!
Skipped the “getting the hang of things” part of channel ownership and right to “polished, precise, and prim presentation”, huh? 😋
I’ve been using and loving the Midnite Manager for about 8 months now.
Excellent thanks and hi from New Zealand 🇺🇸 🇳🇿 (ps I did a video on SAK’s if you would like to check it out)
@david6920-r6z - Hello to you all the way in New Zealand! I would be happy to watch your video! Do you talk about your soldier model in the video?
I have Gerbers, Leathermans and various other knives but my swiss army camper will always go in my pocket first.
I’ve definitely used every tool on it more than once and if it had those other two tools i wouldn’t have to look for my leather man. lol
@ That's awesome! Everyone's swiss army knife has a story; thanks for sharing!
I gave my wife a pink Classic SD alox as a purse carry. She asked: "Why do I need it?" I replied: "For when you need it."
@JopieHaargel - That is the only correct answer; yes I agree!
I like the mini champ.
@alanlansdell7533 - Another excellent choice for a SAK by Victorinox!
Did you know that you can take out the screwdriver when using the pen and it makes writing much easier and similar to a full size pen.
@jorgerosero1745 - Yes, I did! I can use the pen comfortably both ways. Though I guess it would have been better to model the pen function with the tools fully extended, ha ha!
I swear by the victorinox classic sd and the victorinox Swiss card, both in black!
@BiteSizedEDC - The black models are super sleek looking...but I just can't give up that iconic red! The Swiss Card is an awesome tool too. I like like how compact it is.
“Most women arent going to need all these tools”
No one needs all those tools.
To each their own; I understand not everyone will use these tools, but I like mine and use them quite often!
@@ElegantlyEDC nah specifically those huge ones that have like 80 tools in them or whatever.
Sure, it can do it, but its not going to be good at it. Like imagine trying to turn a screw with a driver thats wider than it is long.
@@pretentiousname01 Agreed, the massive beheamoth ones just aren't for me personally. It's like trying to work with a cinderblock lol!
Much as i am firmly wedded to my leatherman micra... You're not wrong.
I bought one each for my wife and her sisters that attached to their keys
@alexblue6991 - How wonderful! Are they using their Swiss Army knives often?
@@ElegantlyEDC they mostly use the scissors
@@alexblue6991 Same for me! I use the scissors all the time!
You mean you haven't seen Felix Immler's videos on using both the keyring and loop as tools? 🙂
@PhillipBicknell - Nope- But I'm going to go check it out right now!
I prefer either Rambler or Classic SD. Midnite Manager is too thick
As of right now I am thinking of bying MiniChamp alox.
the keyring is a 7th tool!? how!? lol
@dvdaltizer - That's what my thoughts were too! I learned this from another commenter: apparently, there is an underground community that mods and finds new ways to make their Swiss Army tools do so much more, including the keyring!
😂💍
Cześć.Witamy nową koleżankę w naszej nożowej społeczności. Powodzenia 👋
@Jansy311 - Thank you! I am happy to be a part of the ever creative EDC community!
@ that’s a great reply. And thanks for taking my query seriously 👌💪
@ I love my Civivi! I share the same sentiments- great knife + reasonable price = happy camper!
