About 3 yrs ago we woke up to my 12 yr old chihuahua paralyzed too. Nothing happened that we know of. And she couldn’t pee either. I rushed her to the vet & they recommended we put her down. I refused & begged to have bladder relieved & get muscle relaxers/pain pills. We got the pills & later that day got in at the VCA animal hospital for MRI. Couldn’t afford $8000 MRI but my baby finally peed there on her own after 1st round of drugs.I was so happy. The 2nd vet said in addition to 1st vets drugs, she added 1/4 omeprazole pill so she wouldn’t get an upset stomach & bumped up pill frequency to every 6 hours instead of 8 . Also told to get a harness to hold her upper body up when she goes to bathroom. It was recommended to carry her as much as possible. After 2 days she was taking shaky steps and a week later she could walk on her own. I don’t know what happened but here we are 3 years later. Yes she is thriving, getting around on her own and as scrappy as ever. She still falls over sometimes and walks a little crooked but I don’t care as long as she is still here. Don’t put them down, give them time and have patience. She is my walking miracle.
Aww I’m so happy she can walk again! We definitely won’t put her down she still has so much spirit in her to get better we’re very hopeful. She still isn’t walking or standing. Can I ask what harness you got her? We use a sling now so she can use the restroom
@@DuckytheYorkie Thank you & I hope your baby gets better quickly too. I’m so sorry you are going through this because I remember how scared I was for my dog. I thought it was the end. I picked up the harness at Petco. It’s small fabric/cordura that you put on the back & wrap the Velcro straps around the neck & under belly. It’s made by “Top Paw”. The vet wanted me to support her upper body to take pressure off the spine during bathroom breaks. And to carry her as much as possible until she starts walking on her own. This happened 9-1-20. The pills really helped relax her and let her go to bathroom and take some steps. She got 1mg diazepam and 1/4 omeprazole and I can’t remember pain pill - maybe galiprant. I hope this helps. If it doesn’t get better please consider a doggie wheelchair so she can move around on her own. It might stimulate nerves & muscles so she can walk soon. @Kenzie13744 If there was a god why would that god make such a sweet innocent little dog suffer like that in the first place? Not to mention the anguish and stress that was placed on the wonderful people who rescued her and the multiple thousands of dollars it surely cost them for the mri and all the treatments. Any god that is supposedly all knowing and all powerful and creator of the Universe and everything in it but does nothing to prevent all the pain and suffering endured by innocent, loving, creatures of his own creation would not be a god worthy of worship anyway. The sooner everyone realizes that there are no gods of any religion the sooner this world can be a much better more peaceful place for all of us to live in harmony without hating and killing one another simply because someone believes in a different god.

Poor little Barb, I pray that she heals and recovers quickly. It is sad to see her not walking. But therapy will get her up and about again. So precious. 🙏✨️💖
The way she looks at you... so much trust.
She has not had an easy life but this time she's not alone but instead has a family that helps her in her recovery and a smiling/concerned face to turn to while doing the work to recover. ❤
Thank you for rescuing and taking care of this beautiful life❤
When Maltese are happy you know it. She loved that sling.

@Kenzie13744
If there was a god why would that god make such a sweet innocent little dog suffer like that in the first place?
She’s so beautiful I hope she is walking again soon I Fr already love that doggy sm ❤
She's so beautiful.
God bless you. Truly!!! having had a lady multipoo, this really hits home. Can't imagine my Angel being left alone a single minute, let alone in pain. Miss you so much, Angel!
My Maltese, Daisy, was such a good girl. They’re truly are one-of-a-kind. I hope your puppy feels better soon 💗

Her eyes look into your heart. ❤ Sweet face.
I’m so sorry that happened! Thank you for taking good care of her! We love you guys! ❤
Thank God she was with you when this happened and not on the street. I hope she makes a full recovery. ❤
If she was on the streets she wouldn’t have been playing with their dog for this to happen
@@yup_im_tiffOmg are you dumb? If it was a situation where both of the dogs were playing outside while the owner was somewhere else and didn’t know for awhile it would be bad.
She is such a precious Angel! I love you sweet girl!
Bless this whole family. Amen 🙏🏻
I hope she makes a full recover. She’s adorable ❤
A neighbor of mine takes his paralyzed doggie out for walks in a doggie wheelchair. Just know that your baby still can lead a happy life 🙂
