Exhuma (Korean: 파묘) is a 2024 South Korean supernatural horror film written and directed by Jang Jae-hyun, and starring Choi Min-sik, Kim Go-eun, Yoo Hae-jin and Lee Do-hyun. The film includes mystery and occult elements, and follows the process of excavating an ominous grave, which unleashes dreadful consequences buried underneath.[3]
Exhuma premiered in the Forum section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on February 16, 2024. It was released in South Korean theatres on February 22 by Showbox.
On accounting for its box office performance, the film opened at number 1 at the South Korean box office and mobilized 336,114 admissions, which was the best opening for a Korean film in 2024 till then. The film has earned US$95 million at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing film of 2024 at the South Korean Box office.[6] It also figures in the List of highest-grossing films in South Korea at 6th place on Domestic films by gross and at 16th place on the Domestic films by admissions as per the Korean Film Council.

Fun fact, actress Kim Go Un, playing Shaman in this movie, had summoned a real spirits while performing the rituals. Because you can't use fake chants as it may disrespect the spirits, real chant was used, thankfully a real Shaman was overseeing the ritual and she helped out to quickly send back the real spirit but everyone on the set scene had felt chill down their spine.

One question that can spoil the whole plot- Jasune could have cleverly selected the second best spot for grandfather's grave rather than this last sword's grave place. This would have saved the samurai/flaming sword for ever in the ground there. Then also plotted a stone above that place leaving the risk that someone may dig this place in future.
I think the point was that the grandfather was buried there itself to ensure that no one would dig up his grave, thus the rod underneath it. He was a rich important person, thus his grave was protected from authorised excavation but at the same time the grave was ordinary looking enough that grave robbers won't find it worth digging.
Ok but how do you think they found the other rods? There must've been a way to locate them just like that they could've found its location regardless of how nicely it would've been hidden and in the movie they already found the location they just couldn't find the rod and that's exactly what jasune wanted
I don't know if it is a translation mistake but when I watched the movie it was:- "The fox has broken the tiger's spine." Tbh this statement fitted more according to the situation they were dealing with.

One correction, during cremation of grandfather sang didn't call abroad to take permission as everyone except his granddaughter in law was dead, he called the grandfather's daughter who was in Korea and was against cremation (she wanted her dad to be buried). That's the same daughter that sang called and asked about the coffin after finding the vertical coffin. (He mistakenly called her park's mother but she's actually his father's sister)

Another reason to put matel road in Samurais body is no matter what happened The spirit will always comes back to it's burial place so if anybody remove Samurai's coffin it will always travel back and in this way the metal road will always be there only destroying the Samurai body is the option to remove the last metal road which exactly happened.. That Japanese Saman was extremely clever he knew that it will be difficult to identify the last metal... I enjoyed this film and You're explanation solved the all confusing. Thanks

Haunting tube is indeed the best. i have watched this movie but couldn't understand many things, probably because of all the culture references, you have explained everything in such a detailed way, it was easier to understand, specifically the theory section
This is purely my guess but it is said that the fox demon loves to eat human liver and as you said that Japanese onmyoji's spirit is still there and it's safe to say that it was controlling that samurai and as you can see that onmyoji was called a fox spirit then I'm guessing that samurai was attacking those livers due to the influence of that fox spirit
