Manufacturers who employ CVT clutch systems on their ATVs and UTVs are in a tough spot when they set up the clutch for their units headed for the showroom: they don’t know how the eventual end-use customer is going to ride it.
As a result, the manufacturers tend to tune their CVT clutches a little “white bread,” so not the best top-end they could get, not the best torque you could get, but something in the middle that everyone can live with.
John will walk you through some of the ways you can tune your CVT clutch on your ATV or UTV to better suit how YOU ride. Changing the weights and springs in the clutch can help you get better top end if you’re riding the sand dunes or better toque if you’re climbing the rocks.

I have a diesel 2018 Caterpillar 102D UTV that idles at 1,000 rpm but doesn’t start moving till you hit about 1,600 rpm. Any suggestions on what’s causing that issue?
